Today's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation filled out the rest of the roster and revealed all of the fighters that will be in the game upon release. But more are coming, as the presentation also noted that more fighters will be added post-launch as DLC.
Each fighter pack will include one fighter, one stage, and multiple music tracks, for $6. Nintendo is planning to release five packs, and you can purchase a bundle "Fighters Pass" for $25 that will include all five fighters, five stages, and all the music tracks. Nintendo noted that it hasn't begun active development on the fighters yet so it may take up to a year to complete the full Fighter's Pass. Purchasing the Fighter's Pass will also get you an outfit based on Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Another piece of post-launch content is coming for free. Piranha Plant will be available for free for early purchasers. If you buy Super Smash Bros. Ultimate digitally or register your physical copy by January 31, 2019, you'll get the fighter at no cost around February 2019. It will be available for purchase separately sometime later.
Today's presentation revealed the final two roster characters: Ken and Incineroar. It also took the wraps off the final mode, Spirits, which allows you to take part in special challenges to earn equippable buffs for your characters. This also serves as the story for the game, as Nintendo teased that there will be a plot explanation for the characters being turned into apparitions. You can read about every announcement and watch the highlights of the Direct in our news round-up.
Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7. Check out our pre-order guide for more details.
As was to be expected from a 40-minute presentation, the new Nintendo Direct centered on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was a big one. It featured a ton of news about the game, and among the most important bits were the final members of the roster being revealed. We now know everyone who will be available on release day, and as you'd probably expect, the lineup will only grow post-launch through DLC. But even that isn't quite as simple as you might have thought.
The Direct started out with the reveal of two new characters. Street Fighter's Ken is an echo fighter of Ryu but is faster and has some other points of distinction. Pokemon's Incineroar also joins Ultimate's full character roster and boasts an array of pro-wrestling-inspired moves.
Although the video stated these two characters rounded out the final roster of 74, it didn't take long for that to prove not to be the case. Later in the stream, it was confirmed that DLC characters are on the way, and that these won't be echo fighters. Work hasn't yet started, so we'll be seeing these new characters added all the way through February 2020.
Nintendo has plans for a total of five DLC fighters, with each one being sold in a bundle alongside a new stage and music for $6 in the US. There will also be a $25 bundle called the Fighters Pass that gets you all five of these. Alongside a small discount over buying them individually, the Fighters Pass entitles you to an in-game outfit based on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 protagonist Rex.
But even that still didn't represent all of the character news we got. As a pre-order bonus of sorts, yet another fighter will be available: Piranha Plant. By purchasing the game digitally or physically (in which case you have to register the game card online) before the end of January 31, 2019, you'll get access to the character for free once it's ready "around" February 2019. A Piranha Plant stage and music are also in the works, and for those who don't qualify for the freebie, it will be available as DLC at some point in the future.
Alongside all of this character news, we learned a lot more about Ultimate, including details on the new Spirits mode and how online multiplayer works. Ultimate is due for release on December 7. There's no word on when we'll learn the identities of the DLC characters, but hey--at least there's reason for hope if you want to see Waluigi or Geno make the cut.
One of the many things that is shuffled as part of Destiny 2's weekly reset on Tuesdays is the slate of bounties offered by Spider in the Tangled Shore. The big new update makes some of these more desirable than in the past by offering the newly renamed Masterwork Cores as rewards. But there's one in particular that has been worth doing since the launch of Forsaken because of the Powerful gear it offers as a reward. The new weekly reset has brought us back to Wanted: Gravetide Summoner. Here's what to know before diving in.
Gravetide Summoner is one of the bounties we've seen repeat more than once, but spread across two different Lost Sectors. Your goal, as always, is to do an Adventure on Titan, but the Lost Sector this time is found on The Rig, located on Titan.
To begin, you'll take five Ghost Fragments to Spider on the Tangled Shore to buy the bounty. This unlocks the Adventure on Titan, which has you complete a Lost Sector. At the end you'll find Gravetide Summoner, which is initially immune to all damage.
To make it vulnerable, you'll have to kill the nearby ogre. It has a large health pool, but you deal increased damage to it by taking out special thrall enemies (the ones with yellow health bars that periodically attack in waves). Taking these out grants you a temporary buff that causes you to deal more damage to the ogre. With the ogre down, finish off Gravetide Summoner to complete the bounty, which gets you some Powerful gear.
Alongside this refreshed Spider bounty is a new Ascendant Challenge. This presents you with a repeat Ascendant Realm area to tangle with; it amounts to some careful platforming and a boss you have to kill, but the associated bounty from Petra offers another piece of Powerful gear.
The wait for the eighth and final season ofGame of Thrones is almost too much to handle. A new episode of the series hasn't been seen since August 2017 and there's still plenty of time to wait as Season 8 won't arrive until sometime in 2019. However, in a newly-released interview with showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss, it's revealed that a final season wasn't always in the cards. Instead, they considered releasing three theatrical films to wrap up the series.
A new Entertainment Weekly cover story that dives deep into the final season of the HBO series features a previously unreleased interview with the duo that took place during filming of Season 3 back in 2012, in which they discuss their plan for the finale at the time. Knowing the epic battle the show planned to feature in its final season, neither Weiss or Benioff believed HBO's TV budgets would be able to handle the cost. "We have a very generous budget from HBO, but we know what's coming down the line and, ultimately, it's not generous enough," Benioff said at the time.
That's when the idea of converting the final episodes into three theatrical films to tell the end of the Game of Thrones story occurred to them. "It's what we're working towards in a perfect world," Weiss explained. "We end up with an epic fantasy story but with the level of familiarity and investment in the characters that are normally impossible in a two-hour movie."
If they shot them as films, rather than episodes of TV, the showrunners believed they'd have access to the time and money they needed to make the final season everything they knew it had to be for fans. Of course, there was one major force that disagreed with them: HBO. The network was less interested in releasing movies than serving its customer base, meaning Game of Thrones was destined to end where it began--on TV.
However, according to EW, executives at HBO assured Weiss and Benioff they would get everything they needed to craft their ending. And, in the end, the network came through with its end of the bargain. With a price tag of $15 million on each of Season 8's episodes and nearly two years to complete them, the showrunners are happy with the end product. "They put their money where their mouths are--literally stuffed their mouth full of million-dollar bills, which don't exist anymore," Weiss joked.
Now, with filming wrapped on the final season, fans are eagerly awaiting the show's return. Game of Thrones will return in 2019 for its final season. Still, while we're learning the first details about the last episodes of the series, fans should be prepared for an ending that may not be as satisfying as they are hoping for. That should be fine, though, as the Game of Thrones universe isn't slowing down. HBO has a prequel series in the works, starring Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse. It's titled The Long Night. Meanwhile, we all continue to wait for the day that George R.R. Martin, the writer of the novels Game of Thrones is based on, finishes his series.
A big chunk of the experience of Red Dead Redemption 2 is crossing the wide-open spaces and rolling plains of the Wild West on horseback. The world is huge, and while there are a lot of things to grab your attention along the way no matter where you're headed, getting anywhere is going to take time. That's not always a bad thing; the world of RDR2 is beautiful, and it's kind of nice to just sit on your horse and take it all in.
You can further lessen the tedium of travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 by letting your horse take the lead when you ride. The game includes a feature that lets you set your horse to automatically take you to a destination by sticking to trails and roadways. Your horse is pretty smart, and once you've given it the right instructions, it can be trusted to do the traveling--you just need to pay attention to any events happening on the side of the road that you might want to check out, and to watch for any bandits who might try to get the drop on you.
In order to set your horse to autopilot, you first need to define where you want the horse to go. Do that by pulling open your map and setting a waypoint marker at your destination. The game then lays out the route to your location by way of trails, like a GPS would. That's the path your horse will follow to your destination.
When you mount up, start riding your horse like normal, and press the button to spur it (X on PlayStation, A on Xbox One) until you get up to the speed at which you want to travel. Once you're going fast enough, hold down the spur button to maintain your horse's speed, same as when you're matching speed with a companion during a mission.
While you're holding the spur button, press and hold the button to switch camera perspectives (the trackpad on PS4, View on Xbox). You'll see a small meter filling in the corner of the screen marked Cinematic Camera. Once that activates, your horse will follow the trails to your final destination with no further input from you. In fact, you can lay the camera down and watch as the camera swings around to give you different perspectives on Arthur's ride and the world around him.
Once you're going, you can tap the spur button again in time with your horse's gallop to speed it up, and touch the slow button (R1 on PS4, RB on Xbox) to reduce your horse's speed without canceling its autopilot. Pressing in the right Analog Stick switches the camera to a new angle, should you not like the one the game picks for you. You can take back control just by touching the control sticks, and you can switch the camera back to normal by tapping the camera button again.
The Cinematic Camera trick is nice when you've got a long trip and you don't want to bother steering your horse around every tiny curve in the trail, but it has some drawbacks. For one thing, you won't be able to quickly see things on the side of the road until you turn off the Cinematic Camera, should you happen to ride past an optional activity. You'll also be a bit vulnerable if you're letting the horse do the driving, should bandits, outlaws, or lawmen attack you while you ride.
Generally, though, letting your horse take the reigns is a nice way to relax as you get around Red Dead Redemption 2 and enjoy the scenery. Just be sure to keep your revolver handy--just in case.
Fortnite's spooky Halloween-themed event continues. Fortnitemares has rotated in a new set of challenges with a new reward waiting for anyone fearless enough to complete them all. Following Kevin the Cube's heel turn, "his" offspring are still running amok. The Cube Monsters are still the centerpiece of many of the challenges, along with dealing with segments of the Cube and visiting corrupted areas.
For this part, you'll need to destroy 10 Elite Cube Monsters, Damage 2,500 Cube Fragments, Destroy 3 Cube Fragments, visit 4 Corrupted areas in a single match, and deal 1,000 damage to Cube Monsters in a single match.
Fortnitemare Part 4 Challenges
Destroy Elite Cube Monsters (10) — 500 XP
damage Cube Fragments (2,500) — 500 XP
deal damage to Cube Monsters in a single match (1,000) — 500 XP
Completing all of those will earn you progress toward completing Fortnitemares challenges, which will contribute to earning the epic Dark Engine Glider. You'll need to complete all four parts of the Fortnitemare challenge set to get this. If you just can't wait to outfit yourself all spooky-like, you can purchase the Deadfire skin in the in-game store. It's the first of a new "reactive skin" type, which will change during a match based on your performance. Two more reactive cosmetics, the Shackled Stone Back Bling and Dark Shard pickaxe, also change throughout a match.
The beta for Fallout 76 has officially begun, but as you read this, you likely can't actually play it. That's because Bethesda only has its servers available at certain times; trying to get in outside of these specific windows will yield a "login failed" error. Below, we've got all the details you need to know regarding exactly when you can play. At the time of this writing, the next test takes place on November 1 with the next session that will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Read on for the full schedule (so far).
Fallout 76's debut test was available only on Xbox One for a four-hour window on October 23. That has since passed, with Bethesda deeming it an "amazing start." Additional test periods will continue to be available for a limited time. The purpose of this is to force players together at a specific time to stress test and put the game through its paces. Sessions will typically last 4-8 hours in a given day, and then the beta will be inoperable again until the next session. The process will repeat between now and the game's release date on November 14.
A beta code is available to anyone who pre-ordered the game across Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Pre-loading is available on all platforms. You'll receive a code with your physical pre-order to enter into the accounts page, or you'll be entered into the pool automatically if you pre-order a digital copy. Note that those codes don't grant you access. Rather, they put you into the potential pool of players to get a distribution code later, since Bethesda is rolling out the invites in waves.

Rockstar Game's latest release, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, is a game where you'll want to spend a great deal of time uncovering all of its secrets and details. You can spend 50-plus hours just completing the main story, slowing accumulating wealth and honor. But if you're someone looking for a shortcut--who wants to find a quick path to success while living the life of an outlaw in the last days of the wild west--we've got you covered. Much like the original game and GTA V, Red Dead 2 features an assortment of cheat codes that unlock additional resources, with some injecting odd gimmicks and quirks into your game.
To find the Cheats menu, press the pause button and select the Settings option. In this menu, press Triangle or Y (on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively) to pull up the Cheats menu. From here, you'll find a long list of locked cheats. Initially, you won't know what any of these do or how to unlock them. Many of these codes can be activated by putting in the correct phrase, but others will require some extra time and effort.
In addition to finding passwords while exploring the world, some of which are written into the ground, throughout the game you'll find newspapers for sale in towns, and some of these offer clues as to how to unlock these extra fun options. More newspapers will become available after completing main missions, which you'll see detailed in news articles. While many of these cheats introduce some mostly benign bits of fun--such as keeping your character, Arthur Morgan, perpetually drunk--activating these codes at any time will have some consequences for your save game. Once you activate these codes, all Trophies and Achievements will be deactivated on this particular file. As a result, before trying any of these codes, be sure to make a separate file for your main save.
With over 30 codes to unlock, some of which have some specific requirements, we've collected a list of cheats that we've uncovered thus far. We also have a separate feature discussing some of the most entertaining and best cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check back with GameSpot as we update this page with new codes, and how to find them.

For now, take a look at our round-up of fascinating and interesting facts the game doesn't outright tell players, and along with other useful tips you should know.
As part of Fortnite's 6.20 update, developer Epic Games rolled out a spooky new event for Halloween. Fortnitemare sees the floating cube affectionately known as Kevin turning a little malicious and spawning Cube Monsters, which are essentially zombies. There's also a few new cosmetics to unlock and, of course, you'll need to do challenges to get many of these. Challenges are being split over multiple parts, and you can find details on it here. Day 2 is now available, and you can read about them below. [Update: The full set of Fortnitemares challenges are available; be sure to get them done before the upcoming one-time-only event.]
For Part 2 you'll need to kill 150 Cube Fiends, do 5,000 points of damage to them using Shotguns or SMGs. On top of those, you also have to kill three enemies in Corrupted Areas and destroy a Ghost Decoration in seven different named locations. Complete those four challenges and you'll unlock a new spray.
Fortnitemare Part 2 Challenges
Destroy Cube Fiends (150) — 500 XP
Deal damage with Shotguns or SMGs to Cube Monsters (5,000) — 500 XP
Eliminate opponents in Corrupted Areas (3) — 500 XP
Destroy a Ghost Decoration in different named location (7) — 500 XP
Completing these will also get you one step closer to getting the Dark Engine Glider. You'll need to complete all four parts of the Fortnitemare challenge set to get this. If you're looking for a more immediate Halloween-themed unlock you can get the Deadfire skin in the in-game store now. This is a new kind of outfit that changes as you progress in a match. This, Epic says, will let players "show off [their] skills in style."
The skins change depending on the damage you deal to your enemies and also how long you're able to stay alive. The skin also comes with the Shackled Stone Back Bling and the Dark Shard pickaxe is also available in the store. These are also reactive cosmetics.
Epic Games has also detailed the contents of Fortnite update 6.20 which, along with giving players Fortnitemares, adds the new Six Shooter weapon to the game. It also gives players the ability to redeploy Gliders after they've landed on the Island. This feature is something Epic is testing, so it's available in all Battle Royale game modes
At the end of the latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct event, Nintendo debuted a new cinematic trailer that provided a little tease of its Adventure mode story, known as World of Light. This time around, the excuse for having everyone literally kick and punch each other into outer-space revolves around Spirits, which are characters that have been separated from their physical forms by a mysterious force. It all happened on one fateful day, and the Smash Ultimate will explore exactly how and why, as well as who is responsible.
Accompanying the cinematic was perhaps the biggest surprise of the Direct--a Smash Bros. Ultimate theme song with vocal lyrics. Now, putting lyrics to songs in video games is a tricky endeavour. Sometimes it can go really well, like with Portal's Still Alive, Persona 5's Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There, Metal Gear Solid 3's Snake Eater and, of course, the single greatest video game theme tune of all time, Daytona USA's Let's Go Away (better known as Do-da do-da do-do-do-do do-do-do).
Other times you can get turds like the heavy metal Chocobo theme from Final Fantasy X-2, Eternity from Blue Dragon--which is bad despite the fact that it was sung by Deep Purple's Ian Gillan--or that vocal version of Ryu's theme that is jaw-droppingly bad.
Nintendo has a decent track record, most notably Jump Up! Super Star, the jazzy little ditty that was in Super Mario Odyssey. It absolutely knocked it out of the park with that one, and was no doubt given confidence to take another crack at it by the universal praise it got. The Smash Bros. Ultimate theme, however, doesn't seem like another [pause for impact] smash hit.
While the orchestral arrangement is appropriately epic, the actual lyrics are a bit on the nose--and not in the cheesy but catchy way Snake Eater does it. It sounds like a direct translation of a song that probably sounded way better in Japanese. Take a look at the lyrics (which we've transcribed to the best of our abilities) and listen to the song below for yourself.
Colours weave into a spire of flame,
Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed,
Bear this torch against the cold of the night,
Search your soul and reawaken the undying light,
On that day, when the sky fell away,
Our world came to an end,
In our eyes, did a fading sunrise in the dark, glimmer shadows
Silence grows, in the spaces between,
Stretching out beyond time,
Rising up, as a chorus of souls finds a [voice?],
Flickering through the void,
These little sparks,
Cling onto life, everyone caught in the struggle,
And then the storms of change, they fan the flames scattering ashes to the wind,
Every soul contains a whisper of light, gleaming faint beyond the dwindle from [sight?]
No escape no greater fate to be made,
in the end the chains of time will not break,
Colours weave into a spire of flame,
Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed,
Bear this torch against the cold of the night,
Search your soul and reawaken the undying light
Of course, musical tastes are subjective, so maybe the theme totally rocks your eardrums, in which case, great! Also while you're here why not watch the misheard lyrics video for Super Smash Bros. Brawl's theme, which is a classic.
In related Smash Bros. Ultimate news, two new characters have been revealed for the game: Ken and Inceneroar. Nintendo has also provided a wealth of information on how Spirits work in the game. Inn addition to being a part of the story, they factor into the gameplay in a big way. Although the core character roster is now complete, more characters will also be added to Smash Bros. Ultimate via paid DLC.
While Game of Thrones is like a game of chess, more than anything else, as characters slowly try to take down various regimes and place themselves in positions of power, the series is just as memorable for its large-scale, epic battle sequences. During the upcoming final season of the HBO series, there will be a battle unlike any other fans have seen on the show, the largest in the series' history.
The most notable battle sequence from Game of Thrones is the "Battle of the Bastards" which took place in Season 6, Episode 9. Jon Snow fought Ramsay Bolton, each accompanied with their own armies, in an intense and bloody fight which was the highlight of that season. However, Season 8 has its own war that is going to be even bigger, according to Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister on the series. "It's brutal," Dinklage told Entertainment Weekly for its Game of Thrones cover story. "It makes the Battle of the Bastards look like a theme park."
Originally, the "Battle of the Bastards" fight took 25 days to shoot. This new sequence shot outside for 55 nights, then continued filming in the studio for weeks afterwards. Just how long they filmed in the studio wasn't publicized, but it sounds as if it's easily the largest sequence in the show's history. It's directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who also directed the "Battle of the Bastards" and some of the other top battle sequences in the show, like "Hardhome."
The battle will take place at Winterfell, and while the "Battle of the Bastards" primarily focused on two characters--Snow and Bolton--this next fight will jump between multiple members of the cast. It will feature a giant fight fans have been waiting to see for quite some time. "Part of our challenge, and really, [director Miguel Sapochnik's] challenge, is how to keep that compelling… we've been building toward this since the very beginning, it's the living against the dead, and you can't do that in a 12-minute sequence," showrunner David Benioff explained.
To make the sequence feel grander, Winterfell's set was expanded. A larger courtyard, a tower castle exterior, and more rooms were added. Everything about Winterfell and this battle is turned up to 11. "Everything feels more intense," explained Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen. "I had a scene with someone and I turned to him and said, 'Oh my God, I'm not going to do this ever again,' and that brings tears to my eyes."
The final season of Game of Thrones, which was almost released theatrically, returns to HBO sometime in 2019. While you may be sad all things are coming to an end in Westeros, don't fret, as the Game of Thrones prequel series is pushing forward, recently casting its lead role.
New details have slowly been trickling out about HBO's first Game of Thrones spin-off series, even as we're finally learning something about the hit fantasy epic's final season. The biggest reveal about the Game of Thrones prequel series, though, is probably its name: The Long Night.
Author George RR Martin, who penned the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books on which Game of Thrones is based, revealed the title on his blog following news that Naomi Watts had been cast as the lead of the new show, which is being run by Kingsman and Kick-Ass writer and producer Jane Goldman. For Game of Thrones fans, the name is a huge piece of information that had previously been the subject of speculation, because it suggests the prequel will hinge on a very specific, and very terrifying, moment in the history of Westeros.
The Long Night refers to a time around 8,000 years before the current events of the show, during what's known in Game of Thrones lore as the Age of Heroes. It was specifically a very long winter--the world of Game of Thrones has weird seasons that can last years, and the Long Night lasted a generation. It was so bad that, according to the Starks' servant Old Nan, "There came a night that lasted a generation, and kings shivered and died in their castles even as the swineherds in their hovels. Women smothered their children rather than see them starve, and cried, and felt their tears freeze on their cheeks."
What was extra awful about the Long Night was the arrival of the Others, or White Walkers, for the first time in Westeros. Descending from the North, the White Walkers led an army of the dead that, Nan says, routed armies, swept through castles and towns, and showed no mercy. According to Westerosi legend, it was only when an unknown figure called the Last Hero sought out and allied with the magical folk called the Children of the Forest that the White Walkers were defeated.
So it definitely seems that The Long Night is going to cover a lot of that legendary ground, likely upending fan expectations by showing a truer version than the stories that were passed down around Westeros. From previous rundowns from HBO, we also know that The Long Night will deal with a few legendary figures, specifically Bran the Builder, the founder of House Stark (who also built Winterfell and the Wall), and Lann the Clever, the founder of House Lannister.
There's also the Children of the Forest, who we know from Game of Thrones were the original creators of the White Walkers. The Children of the Forest made the first of the undead creatures in response to the original humans to settle Westeros, the First Men, basically kicking them off their land and cutting down their forests. The Long Night creates an uneasy truce in the wake of that conflict.
Finally, there's likely to be some interesting things going on across the Narrow Sea in The Long Night, as well. The generation-long winter didn't just befall Westeros, it impacted the entire world, and the eastern civilizations have their own legend about what happened. That's the story of Azor Ahai, the hero in the Lord of Light religion, who used the glowing sword Lightbringer to battle "the darkness." It's not clear what exactly that means, or whether Azor Ahai and the Last Hero are one and the same.
Martin didn't reveal any other information about the show, but he did write that there still are other Game of Thrones prequels in "active development." Without revealing any potential stories for the other shows, he mentioned that "the readers among you might want to grab a copy of Fire & Blood," his upcoming book, when it's released on November 20. That story is also a Game of Thrones prequel, but goes back through the 300 years before the original books to detail the history of the Targaryen family--another fascinating time in Martin's world, filled with intrigue, war, and dragons.
Meanwhile, we do know that Season 8 of Game of Thrones made at least one cast member cry, and that it'll have the biggest and most brutal battle in the series' history. There was also a least a short time when showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss were considering trying to make three standalone movies out of the final season. And while there aren't too many details out there about what to expect from the end of Game of Thrones, a recently released tie-in video game might hold some clues.
The latest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate presentation was chock full of new announcements, including word of a special dedicated service coming next year. Dubbed "Smash World," the free service will let you post and watch videos of your glory moments.
Game director Masahiro Sakurai teased that the service will boast other unnamed features as well, and that it will be given regular updates throughout its lifespan. The brief glimpse at the UI shown during the presentation had a large array of video captures appearing on a mobile device.
Smash World isn't the only extra coming to Smash Bros. in 2019. The presentation also revealed plans for DLC characters, stages, and music to come throughout the year. There will be five packs in all--each of which grants one character, one stage, and some music tracks--for $6 apiece. Nintendo is also offering a Fighter Pass for $25. In addition to those five characters, Piranha Plant is being added as a playable character, and he'll(?) be free for anyone who registers their copy of the game by January 31, 2019.
The onslaught of new content for Fortnite continues, as developer Epic Games has released the game's latest patch. Update 6.21 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android (iOS may have a short delay before an update hits the App store), and its headlining feature is a new type of item in Battle Royale: balloons. Here are the patch notes and everything that's new.
[Update: Epic has notified users of issues involving the new update. On Twitter, it wrote, "We are investigating a few issues with the v6.21 patch, including problems with performance and matchmaking. We will post an update as soon as we have more information." There's no word yet on when the issues will be resolved.]
Balloons may sound mundane, but they look as if they could introduce some wacky, tactical fun into the game. As you can see in the brief video below, holding onto balloons allows you to float or rise up into the air. They're classified as Epic rarity, and when you pick them up, you'll get a total of 20 that can be deployed. You can hold as many as six at once; you inflate balloons by hitting the primary fire button and let go of one by hitting secondary fire. Balloons are found in an assortment of places--chests, supply drops, supply llamas, vending machines, or as floor loot--but you'll want to be careful when using them. The patch notes warn, "Don't float too high for too long; balloons only last so long at max build height."
Another significant change involves glider re-deploying, a feature that entered testing with the last patch. Epic won't be removing this after all and has plans to continue monitoring feedback and testing the feature due to the "positive results" that it's seen.
Update 6.21 vaults a number of weapons. In standard matches, you'll no longer encounter the semi-auto sniper, guided missile, and dual pistols. These may return in the future, but for the time being, you'll only be able to use them in Playground mode.
Regarding the grappler, Epic has tweaked it so that when it's used by the passenger of a vehicle, the vehicle's velocity plays a factor in increasing your grapple force. Also, grappling out of a vehicle will no longer cause it to move in an arc; the vehicle will instead continue straight forward.
On the Save the World side, you'll find a new type of cache, a new hero, and an assortment of other fixes. As always, this co-op mode is only available to those who have purchased access; Epic recently revealed it won't be available to everyone as a free-to-play mode (like Battle Royale) until sometime next year.
The release of update 6.21 comes just days before the Halloween event Fortnitemares is set to end in Battle Royale. Coming on Sunday, November 4, is some kind of one-time-only event to cap off the ongoing festivities. In the meantime, new Week 6 challenges will soon be available, and you can check out the full patch notes below.

It's the Destiny 2 patch we've been waiting for. The October 30 patch for the game, which dropped alongside the weekly reset, brings a load of quality-of-life improvements to Destiny 2, including a handful that should make getting the best loot in the game a little less frustrating.
Along with Update 2.0.5 itself, Bungie released patch notes that detail some behind-the-scenes alterations that won't be super obvious to players, but should lessen the grind for some Exotics and unique weapons a little less grindy.
The change that's likely to affect the most players is the alteration to Exotic drops. Right now, there's a low chance that players will get Exotic engram drops from enemies while they play through the game, but the item that comes out of those drops is random, which results in a lot of duplicate Exotics. Bungie has altered those drops so that Destiny 2 takes your collection of Exotics into account when determining which item is in the engram you receive. Exotics you don't have will be weighted higher than those you do, which should increase the chance of getting something new out of random drops. Bungie also changed things so that when you do get a duplicate Exotic, the chances that it's a piece of armor, rather than a gun, will be higher--because armor has random perks and guns don't. That way, even if you do get a duplicate Exotic armor, there's a chance it'll be different or better than what you already have.
More players should have a chance at getting another new Exotic that came with Forsaken, Destiny 2's latest expansion: Malfeasance. The Exotic hand cannon can only be earned through a series of quests, and those quests only kick off when players happen to encounter and kill a specific Primeval enemy when playing Gambit matches, called the Ascendant Servitor. Update 2.0.5 ups the likelihood that the Ascendant Servitor will appear in Gambit matches, which should give more players a chance at unlocking Malfeasance.
In the area of non-Exotic unique loot, Bungie has made grinding Nightfall Strikes more fruitful. Each Nightfall has specific loot that only drops in it, but the chances of receiving that stuff are usually pretty low. Destiny 2 now tracks how many Nightfalls you've played without receiving a unique drop, and each time you don't get one, the chances you will in the next Nightfall are increased.
There are a bunch of other balancing and rule changes that come in Update 2.0.5, which you can read about on Bungie's website. They also include a nerf to Sleeper Simulant, a gun that has dominated Gambit and Crucible matches since Forsaken came out, that's sure to bum out a few players--and probably make several more happy to use a different weapon for a change.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features a whopping 74 playable characters in the base game, with a handful of others coming down the line as DLC. However, players who pre-order or purchase the title soon after launch will be treated to one additional character for free, and it's a very unexpected one: Piranha Plant.
The potted Mario enemy will be added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a full playable character. It is able spit poison, fire a spiked ball at opponents, and even extend its neck (stem?) to perform a long-range attack. For its Final Smash, Piranha Plant summons Petey Piranha onto the battlefield to attack other players.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai says that Piranha Plant isn't yet finished, but it will be available around February 2019. In order to receive it for free, you'll need to register Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via your My Nintendo account by January 31, 2019. This will be done automatically if you purchase the game digitally from either the Switch Eshop or Nintendo's website. If you opt for a physical copy, you'll need to press the plus button while on the game's icon in the Switch menu and select the My Nintendo Rewards option.
If you register your copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate before the cutoff date, you'll receive a download code for the character via email. You'll need to redeem this code by 11:59 PM PT on June 30, 2019. Piranha Plant will also be offered as a paid DLC character separate from those included in the Fighters Pass.
The aforementioned Fighters Pass can be purchased for $25 USD and gives players five DLC fighters, as well as their corresponding stages and music tracks. Nintendo hasn't revealed who these characters will be; Sakurai says development on them hasn't yet begun and that it may take a year for them to all arrive. Each character/stage/music set will also be offered up individually for $6.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. In addition to Piranha Plant, Nintendo revealed two other new characters for the game during its latest Direct presentation: Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon. The company also shared more details on the mysterious Spirits mode. You can read about all the announcements and watch the Direct's highlights in our news round-up.
With Diablo III set to make its Nintendo Switch debut later this week to coincide with the start of BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard has revealed another notable piece of news for Nintendo fans. Diablo is getting its very first Amiibo figure, and odds are, it's probably not any of the characters you would guess.
As Blizzard shared on Twitter, the figure is not Diablo himself, nor any off the other Prime Evils. It's also not Tyrael, Malthael, Deckard Cain, or any of the playable classes. Instead, it's the mischievous loot goblin who gets the Amiibo treatment. (Separately, we're also getting some new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo figures.)
The loot goblin Amiibo launches sometime in December; a specific release date and price wasn't shared. But it's notable for featuring a unique design, both in terms of the figure itself and the box. The box looks more like a Funko Pop than the standard Amiibo packaging we're accustomed to, while the figure has a cartoonish look. It actually appears to be the same design as an earlier Cute But Deadly figurine.
The figure's exact function in the Switch game isn't detailed, but Blizzard teases that you may be able to use it to access The Vault, a secret treasure goblin area filled with loot.
While certainly not imposing foes or significant characters in the lore, loot goblins do embody the loot chase that makes Diablo so enjoyable. Treasure goblins are a type of enemy you can happen upon in Diablo III. When first attacked, these will begin to run away, but as you continue hitting them, they drop various loot--gold, gems, blood shards, weapons, armor--depending on what type they are. It's a real treat, but also an intense race to ensure you kill it and earn the maximum lot before it can summon a portal and jump through.
Diablo III's launch on Switch represents a great new way to play the game, even if it does lose some of the visual fidelity of the PC version. You can read all about what to expect in our Diablo III Switch review.
If it wasn't clear enough that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on Switch was set to be the biggest entry of the series, then the recent Nintendo Direct showcasing the new game modes and massive roster offered the most comprehensive look at the game yet. In addition to the new Spirits gameplay, we finally saw the game's new story mode, which aims to tie together everything that Ultimate offers. In this new adventure called World of Light, players will explore a large world in order to save friends and foes alike from mysterious corruption.
During the closing trailer for the Direct, we saw the entire lineup of 75 fighters preparing to face off against a new threat. However, things don't go over well for our heroes, and every character is overtaken by this new foe--all except for Kirby. After recovering from the chaos, the sole survivor sets out to find his allies and cure them of their newfound corruption, all the while collecting the spirits of many supporting characters and friends who will aid him in combat.
From the trailer, World of Light looks very similar to a board game, a la Mario Party. However, it eventually expands into a broader adventure, where you'll see new sights and face off against evil versions of popular characters. Many of these battles also introduce some strange conditions, like facing off against oversized versions of fighters. These situations will make engagements a bit more challenging, which will gradually escalate into more intense fights.
While similar to the Subspace Emissary mode from Super Smash Bros. Brawl and the adventure mode from Smash Bros on 3DS, World of Light also incorporates the new Spirits gameplay--support characters that offer buffs and other attributes to your main fighter. Over the course of your journey, you'll trek across land, sea, and even the depths of outer space to fight and collect new Spirits and fighters to play as. It definitely aims to showcase many diverse locales and references to several past Nintendo games, including Kid Icarus, Star Fox, and even the Pokemon series.
Over the course of the extended Nintendo Direct, we also got to see the debut of upcoming fighters including Incineroar, Ken--Ryu's echo character--and the surprise appearance of the Piranha Plant, who will be the first post-launch fighter. Furthermore, the Direct also offered a breakdown of how online battles will work, which includes access to elite battles for the more skilled players, and along with a new companion app for the game called Smash World. If you had any worries about Nintendo's upcoming fighter being an update of the previous game, then this Direct should definitely put you at ease.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is set for launch on December 7 for the Nintendo Switch. If you want to know more about the game, including just how the online mode will function, who Incineroar is, and what the upcoming Season Pass for post-launch DLC will offer, be sure to check out our news round-up of the Direct.
With the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate only a few weeks away, Nintendo has unleashed a lot of new info to both entice nostalgic Nintendo fans and to provide them with concrete details about the game's more technical details. These include info on how online matchmaking and local multiplayer will function, and how they differ from previous Smash Bros. games.
The most notable change being introduced to Smash' online structure is the abolition of the "For Fun" and "For Glory" options. Rather that choosing to opt in or out of a binary casual/competitive system, you will instead choose whether to search for opponents who reflect a configuration profile of your choosing, dictating options such as the use of items. Alternatively, you can opt to matchmake with players regardless of their preferences.
Beyond the type of battles you can search for, you will also be able to configure how Nintendo's servers pair you up with other players, either by Global Smash Power (tied to an online leaderboard) or by geographical proximity.
Players will be able to jump into the online matchmaking manually, fight after fight, or they will be able to activate background matchmaking. This will allow you to play most of the game's modes in between fights while you're waiting for a new battle begin. Finally, if you've got a friend with you in the same room, you can fight other pairs of friends online as team, rather than as individual fighters.
Communication with other players online will be possible in two ways. The first is through the use of Nintendo's Switch Online smartphone app--this is the only official way to play with voice chat. Alternatively, players can use a pre-selected assortment of stock messages to send emotes and other brief signals to the competition. Players will also have the option to customize online profiles, known as a Smash Tag, to show off their various accomplishments and rewards from the game at large.
Once a player has proven themselves to be a capable online competitor, they will be granted access to exclusive in-game battles against elite opponents. These are reserved for the "best of the best," according to Nintendo--there are no other specifics regarding qualification for these "VIP" matches.
Online details are just a piece of the overall puzzle revealed today during the new Nintendo Direct. To stay up to date, check out the following stories to find the latest on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has grown even bigger. During its final Smash Bros. Direct presentation, Nintendo unveiled the last pair newcomers making their debut on the base roster: Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon. [Update: It turns out these aren't the final characters; Piranha Plant will be available as a pre-order bonus, and five other fighters are coming as DLC.]
Ken is an Echo Fighter of his rival Ryu, Street Fighter's previous representative in the Smash series. His appearance in Ultimate is based on his look in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. He's a bit faster than Ryu and has a handful of other differences, such as a different shaped Hadoken. He also has two Final Smashes: Shinryuken and Shippu Jinraikyaku.
The other new fighter joining the roster, Incineroar, is one of the starter Pokemon from the series' latest installments, Sun and Moon. Incineroar's moves are inspired by pro wrestling; it has powerful throws and, like a wrestler, poses after every attack. Its neutral Smash attack is Darkest Lariat, while its Final Smash is Max Malicious Moonsault, a more powerful version of its Z Move from Sun and Moon.
With Ken and Incineroar's announcement, there are now 74 playable characters on the Super Smash Bros. roster. Along with every fighter who has ever appeared in a previous Smash Bros. game, Ultimate introduces a number of other newcomers to the series such as Ridley from Metroid, Simon and Richter Belmont from the Castlevania series, and Animal Crossing's Isabelle. You can see everyone who is playable in our full Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster list.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. Nintendo is also releasing a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle more than a month before the game's release date. The bundle launches this Friday, November 2, and comes with a Smash-themed Switch dock and set of Joy-Con controllers, as well as a digital copy of the game--although the game won't unlock until December 7.
After 20 years (and counting) of books and nearly a decade of TV episodes, Game of Thrones fans might expect a satisfying conclusion when Season 8--the final season--airs next year. But according to a sprawling new report from Entertainment Weekly, that won't necessarily be the case.
"We want to stop where we--the people working on it, and the people watching it--both wish it went a little bit longer," co-showrunner David Benioff reportedly said. "There's the old adage of 'Always leave them wanting more,' but also things start to fall apart when you stop wanting to be there. You don't want to f*** it up."
The report implies that Benioff and his fellow showrunner, DB Weiss, had to work to convince HBO to end the show with Season 8. Just like fans will when it's over, HBO wanted more.
But there are just a few more tiny hints about where Game of Thrones Season 8 will end. After making it through several increased security measures, reporter James Hibberd actually witnessed filming of the show's final episode inside the massive hangar where the Titanic was reportedly painted. Here's an excerpt:
"What's being filmed here is episode 6, the series finale. Like Harington going into the table read, I don't know anything about the final season's storyline. I look around at a meticulously constructed set that I've never seen on the show before. Several actors are performing, and I'm stunned: There are characters in the finale that I did not expect. I gradually begin to piece together what has happened in Westeros over the previous five episodes and try not to look like I'm freaking out."
He goes on to say that "the drama builds to a confrontation with the Army of the Dead that's expected to be the most sustained action sequence ever made for television or film," of which Benioff said, "We've been building toward this since the very beginning, it's the living against the dead, and you can't do that in a 12-minute sequence."
When it comes to the finale, that's all we know--although the feature also revealed some hints about how Game of Thrones' final season will begin. Naturally, we're eager for it all to finally be over in 2019.
We're past the halfway point of Season 6 in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Week 6's challenges are now available and consist of the standard mix of tasks for players to complete as they seek a Victory Royale. Three challenges are offered to all players for free, but four others are reserved for Battle Pass owners, including landing in particular locations and finding sets of sheet music. Also available are Fortnitemares challenges, which are tied to the game's ongoing Halloween event. All four sets of these are now live; unlike standard challenges, however, you have a limited time to complete them all and earn some spooky rewards.
As Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale rolls on, new challenges continue to roll out on all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Those feed into the latest Battle Pass, and as with previous seasons, you level that up by playing the game and completing challenges. Every week there will be a new set of tasks for players to complete that unlock Battle Stars and level up the Battle Pass to unlock goodies.
Like in Season 5, weekly challenges are split into two categories. The first is a free set, which are available to all Fortnite players, while the second is for Battle Pass owners. To get a Battle Pass you'll need to cough up 950 V-Bucks in game. If you haven't bought the Battle Pass, you'll be able to complete certain objectives and earn some rewards, but some of the coolest unlocks are locked behind the paid Battle Pass, so if you plan on sinking lots of time into Fortnite, we recommend picking that up.
Although you can pick up a Battle Pass later and go back to unlock any premium rewards you've earned based on the tier that you've already reached, there is one major advantage in doing it at the start of the season. Namely that you'll get bonus XP, which is dished out for just playing the game either alone or with buddies. This XP levels you up and translates to Battle Stars that also level up your pass, so it may be a good idea to get in early if you can.
Alongside the standard challenges, there are also Hunting Party challenges for those who buy the Battle Pass. These operate similarly to the Blockbuster and Road Trip objectives of past seasons, where each one tasks you with completing all challenges from a single week during the season. The reward for each is a loading screen that reveals the location of a hidden Battle Pass tier you can then obtain. Additionally, by completing seven of these, you'll earn a Legendary skin that will remain a mystery for now.
Each week we'll have guides on the trickiest challenges to make things quicker and easier for you. However, this article will serve as a hub for all our guides so, as the season goes on, you'll be able to keep coming back here to get the latest guides as well as ones for previous weeks. This will be especially helpful if you decided to pick up a Battle Pass part of the way into the season. If you're wondering if it's worth the effort, you can take a look at all of Fortnite Season 6's new skins, cosmetics, emotes, sprays, and other items to unlock in this gallery of Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass rewards.

Nintendo's November Direct is the last confirmed pre-release showcase of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate prior to the game's launch. The video revealed the final new characters included in the base game of Ultimate, while also detailing the new story mode, extra features, and post-launch content.
Our full coverage of the Direct and everything announced is listed out below. Ultimate is the fifth mainline game in the Super Smash Bros. franchise, incorporating every character seen in the series to date and adding a few more. Although most of the tried-and-true Super Smash Bros. formula returns in this most recent installment, Ultimate does make a few changes. Stage selection now occurs before players pick their fighters, for example. Also, certain characters, like Dark Pit and Daisy, have been made into Echo Fighters--meaning they're basically a reskin of another character, but certain attributes like speed or attack damage have been slightly tweaked.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7 for Nintendo Switch. The game also has an Ultimate Special edition--comes with a steelbook case and Super Smash Bros. styled Switch Pro controller--that's available for pre-order.
Final Two New Launch Characters
During the Direct, Nintendo announced the final two fighters that will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at launch--Ken and Incineroar. This finalizes Ultimate's starting roster of playable characters at 74.
Ken is an Echo Fighter of his Street Fighter rival Ryu. His default appearance is his Super Street Fighter II Turbo look. Although his attacks are similar to Ryu, Ken is a bit faster, has a different shaped Hadoken, and uses two different Final Smashes.
Incineroar is the final evolution of Pokemon Sun / Moon's fire starter, Litten. In Pokemon, Incineroar is a fire and dark type, but its appearance is based off that of a wrestler. As such, in Ultimate, Incineroar attacks with a flurry of powerful punches and throws, which are either bathed in flame or dark energy. Its Final Smash, Max Malicious Moonsault, is a variation of its Z-move from Pokemon Sun / Moon.
Story Mode
Ultimate's story mode is called World of Light. It's played similarly to a board game, where landing on certain spaces sparks an event that transports you to another area or into a battle. World of Light begins with the entire roster of fighters going into battle against a new, unknown threat. However, every fighter--except for Kirby--is easily defeated. Now on his own, Kirby has to track down and save his friends so the fight can be taken up once again. The story incorporates spoken dialogue and an anime-like soundtrack.
Spirits Mode
Spirits mode is a new addition to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The mode allows players to equip unique "Spirits" to enhance their chosen fighters.
Each fighter can equip one Primary Spirit to increase specific stats. Support Spirits can be assigned to Primary ones to account for any weaknesses. Each Spirit comes in one of four rarities--Novice, Advanced, Aces, and Legend--and are one of three types--Attack, Grab, and Shield. Attack Spirits are best against Grab, while Grab defeats Shield, and Shield trumps Attack.
Post-Launch Character
Nintendo also announced the first post-launch fighter to come to Ultimate. Piranha Plant will be available for download around February 2019. The character is free, and downloads automatically if you choose to buy the digital version of Ultimate prior to January 31. If you buy the physical version, then you'll need to register online by January 31 and go into My Nintendo Rewards to get the character for free.
Additional DLC
Nintendo has promised more fighters, stages, and music tracks will be made available as post-launch DLC. There are five packs currently scheduled, each one including one fighter, one stage, and a few musical tracks. Each pack will cost $6 USD, but a $25 USD Fighters Pass can also be bought that bundles everything together.
The Fighters Pass will also include an outfit based on Rex--from Xenoblade Chronicles 2--for your Mii fighters. Nintendo is still developing all of the fighters included in the Fighters Pass, so players can expect each DLC pack to trickle out throughout 2019. Piranha Plant is not a part of any of the five DLC packs or the Fighters Pass, but it will eventually be sold as DLC if you don't download it while it's free.
We're another week into Season 6 of Fortnite, which means a new set of challenges is now available to complete on your platform of choice, whether that be PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, or mobile. As usual, Week 6's challenges are broken up into two categories--Free and Battle Pass--and consist of some fairly straightforward tasks. However, there is one that may give you a bit of trouble if you don't know where to look, so we've put together this handy guide on finding the sheet music and pianos.
One of the Hard-level challenges for Battle Pass owners in Week 6 is to find sheet music in Pleasant Park. This itself is simple enough; you'll see a stand with the sheet music in one of the houses in the area, and you'll need to collect it to unlock the next step of this four-stage challenge. Once you've found the sheet music, you'll need to play it on two giant piano keyboards scattered around the island.
You won't need to travel very far to make it to the first piano; it can be found on the hill just to the west of Pleasant Park, fairly close to where the sheet music was located. Once you've made it to the piano, you'll need to jump on the keys in the right order to move on to the next step. Fortunately, you'll see a stand with the sheet music near the keyboard, so all you need to do is follow the order written on it to complete this step. However, you'll need to be alone in the area before you can play the music, as other players who also try to use the same piano will interrupt your progress.
Once you've completed this step, you'll be tasked with collecting another piece of sheet music, this one located in a building in Retail Row. After you've found it, you'll need to head just east of the area to find the second piano. Just as before, play the keys in the right order and you'll complete the challenge. For a closer look at exactly where you need to go, you can watch us complete the challenge in the video at the top of this guide.
With that done, you'll be one step closer to unlocking the new Season 6 cosmetics and rewards. The other challenges from Week 6 are all fairly straightforward. Most require you to either eliminate opponents with a particular weapon or place the new Chiller trap in different matches, all of which can be accomplished with a little persistence. You can see the full list of Week 6 challenges below. For tips on previous missions, be sure to check out our complete Fortnite Season 6 challenge roundup.

November is here, and although Black Friday 2018 isn't until November 23, some retailers have already begun pulling back the curtain on the deals they'll offer on the big day. Target has released its Black Friday ad, which means you can start preparing for what video games, consoles, accessories, TVs, tablets, and other items you'll to want to buy on the biggest shopping day of the year. You can find the full Target Black Friday ad here, but we've gone in and pulled out all of the gaming deals below.
You can get these sale prices online or in store, but as always, stock will be limited. If you want to brave the crowds and get your hands on the items in person, Target stores will be open and offering these deals from 5 PM Thursday, November 22 to 1 AM Friday, November 23. Then--presumably after spending a few hours cleaning up and re-stocking--they'll re-open Friday, November 23 at 7 AM. It's possible certain stores will use different hours, so you might want to double-check closer to Black Friday.
A few video game items are listed as doorbusters in Target's ad. For starters, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on both PS4 and Xbox One will be on sale for $45--not a bad discount for a game that just launched last month. Another recent game is getting an even bigger price drop; the starter pack for the toys-to-life space shooter Starlink: Battle for Atlas will be on sale for $40, down from $75.
In terms of hardware doorbusters, you'll be able to get a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB console with Spider-Man for $200 (for a savings of $100). Also $100 off is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with the headset, camera, and two Move controllers, as well as copies of Superhot VR and Creed: Rise to Glory, all for $250.
Now it's time for the big list. All of the following games will be available at the prices listed below on Black Friday, but Target says even more games will also be on sale. We'll update this article when we find out what those are. In the mean time, check out the full list and start planning your Black Friday 2018 purchases now.
We're still a ways off from the final season of Game of Thrones, slated to air sometime in the early part of 2019, but some information about the show's last six episodes is finally starting to come out. Specifically, we know how the final battle for Westeros against the White Walkers will begin: with the Mother of Dragons arriving in the North.
Entertainment Weekly released a long cover feature full of tidbits about the final season, and while HBO has been extremely protective of spoilers and secrets, showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff did give a few hints about what we can expect. Up first is the beginning of the final season, in which at least a few of the leaders of Westeros converge on Winterfell, the seat of House Stark and the fortress that's the centerpiece of humanity's defense against the Night King's undead army.
The opening of Season 8 will mirror that of Season 1, with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) riding to Winterfell with her armies in preparation for the arrival of the Army of the Dead. It's a deliberate call all the way back to the first episode in 2011, when King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) rode to Winterfell to ask his old friend, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), to return to King's Landing as his Hand of the King. That request kicked off years of warfare and led to many tragic deaths, and given that this is Game of Thrones, it's definitely not unreasonable to expect Daenerys's arrival could result in the same.
"It's about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death," co-executive producer Bryan Cogman told EW. "It's an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season, and I think it honors very much what George set out to do--which is flipping this kind of story on its head."
Season 8 in general will be about characters we've been following throughout the show finally meeting each other, and the results of those interactions, and potential conflicts. Game of Thrones has always had the threat of the White Walkers looming in the distance, but the show is really about the characters and politics of Westeros and their endless battles for power. Those dynamics still exist in Season 8; for one thing, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), the Lady of Winterfell, is not super happy that her brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) bent the knee to Daenerys last season.
Regardless of whether the humans work out their differences--there's still the treacherous Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) down south in King's Landing, likely plotting something awful--the dead are coming. EW's report also discusses the massive battle that will inevitably take place in Winterfell, noting that one episode is going to be wall-to-wall action in Winterfell. According to Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, the battle in Season 8 makes the massive Battle of the Bastards at Winterfell in Season 6 "look like a theme park." In fact, the epic scale of Season 8 once led Benioff and Weiss to speculate about releasing it as three standalone movies instead of a season of TV.
Other than the broad strokes, the rest of what might happen in Season 8 is still largely unknown. There might be a few clues in the recently released Game of Thrones tie-in game, Reigns: Game of Thrones, but we're stuck speculating until the show's 2019 release. Game of Thrones won't end there, though--the show's first prequel, set thousands of years before the current series, is now casting.
We don't exactly know when in 2019 Game of Thrones Season 8 will arrive, but we do know it will be the final batch of episodes for the hugely popular fantasy show. It's set to be an emotional ride for fans of the show, and it seems it was just as moving for the cast when they first read the script together.
In a new feature in Entertainment Weekly, some details of the full cast read of Season 8's scripts have been revealed. The article states that showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss started the session by asking the cast members to avoid doing anything that might give away any of the new season's secrets, no matter how small. One unnamed actor is quoted as saying they were told: "Don't even take a photo of your boots on the ground of the set."
The article goes on to state that it was a particularly emotional experience for Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow. Unlike most of his fellow cast members, Harington didn't read the scripts prior to the table read, so he was experiencing the show's ending for the first time. He reportedly cried twice during the table read, and although we don't know the reason for the first time because of potential spoilers, EW reports that the second time was when they reached the end of the final episode. "The second time was the very end," he said. "Every season, you read at the end of the last script 'End of Season 1,' or 'End of Season 2.' This read End of Game of Thrones."
EW have also revealed that at one stage Benioff and Weiss were considering finishing the show with three theatrical movies rather than six episodes. Season 8 will contain the biggest battle of the show's history and the pair were concerned that HBO's budget might not allow them to do what they wanted.
In related news, details have started the emerge about the Game of Thrones spin-off show, which starts production next year. According to Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, the series will be titledThe Long Night. It will star Naomi Watts and Joshua Whitehouse, and the pilot is written by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, the Kingsmen movies), who has created the series with Martin and will serve as its showrunner. It's set to take place thousands of years before the current series, during the Age of Heroes.
We're now in November, and Amazon Prime Video will have many new movies, TV shows, and original series for its subscribers to watch throughout the month. On top of the traditional fair, Amazon is also offering NFL games, streaming live on Thursday nights.
Easily the best movie to arrive on Amazon on November 1 is the 1985 classic Weird Science. In the John Hughes film, a couple of high school nerds use computer technology to create what they think is the perfect woman. Somehow, their creation comes to life, but she ends up making them better and more confident people. While the technology in the movie may not speak well to a younger, contemporary audience, the themes of fitting in and being cool still hold true today.
Speaking of coming-of-age movies, the 1991 feature My Girl also launched on Amazon on November 1. Anna Chlumsky plays Vada, a young girl who is about to become a teenager and living with her widowed mortician father. She learns a bit about life and relationships with her friend Thomas, played by Macaulay Culkin. Sure, it's more of a family drama, but there are still some fun, comedic moments that make this a classic flick.
If horror is your thing, there are a few solid choices for November. Candyman: Day of the Dead, Hostel, and Child's Play are all out now on Amazon. Yes, it's a weak month for horror, but you may want to mark your calendars for November 15 when Season 3 of Syfy's The Expanse hits Amazon, as it is a spectacular series.

November is officially here, and that means it's almost time to spend the day gorging yourself on turkey, making sure to avoid the family you're forced to hang out with. What better way to avoid forced conversation than sitting around the television, watching Netflix, together? Netflix has revealed what is coming to its service for the full month, as well as what is leaving the subscription service.
Kicking off the month, Netflix brought a slew of movies on Thursday, November 1. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll need to watch From Dusk Till Dawn. The 1996 action/horror film is by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino and follows two criminals on the run who take a family in an RV hostage. They all end up at a strip club in Mexico that's filled with vampires. Also now on the service is Cape Fear, Marvel's Doctor Strange, and Sixteen Candles.
If Netflix's originals are more up your alley, then you're in luck, as there are 46 movies and series coming in November. Most notable is the return of House of Cards, for Season 6, which will be its final season. This time around, Kevin Spacey won't be involved after sexual abuse allegations came out against the House of Cards star. The final season will follow Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as the President of the United States, which was revealed in the first trailer.
There are plenty of other original series to get excited about as well. Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns for another season to make fun of some terrible, old movies, coming November 22. Also, She-Ra--He-Man's superpowered cousin--is getting a fun and bubbly reboot on November 16. Along with a new collection of The Great British Baking Show on November 9, you'll have a ton to watch.
The full the list for Netflix is below, and make sure to check out what's coming to Hulu and Amazon for the month of November as well.

Alongside the ongoing Fortnitemares challenges, Fortnite: Battle Royale players have reached Week 6 in Season 6. The Thursday weekly reset means a whole new batch of weekly challenges to complete. Completing the weekly challenges is crucial to earn Battle Stars and level up your Battle Pass, which in turn will earn you cosmetic items. We have a breakdown of Week 6's challenges, but if you want to catch up on all the still-active quests from previous weeks, take a gander at our comprehensive Fortnite Season 6 challenge guide.
As always, the challenges are split into two tiers. The free section, available to all, tasks you with placing Chillers in different matches, searching for a Chest in different named locations, and getting three shotgun eliminations.
The higher tier challenges available only to Battle Pass owners give out stars as well. You can get rewards for landing at Shifty Shafts, dealing pickaxe damage, finding sheet music, and elimination with a common weapon. The landing, sheet music, and elimination challenges are all multi-stage quests, so you'll have other challenges open up after you complete the first phase.
