Destiny 2 Is Free On PC For A Limited Time

By Chris Reed on Nov 03, 2018 12:18 am

During Blizzcon 2018, Bungie announced it's giving away Destiny 2 for free on PC between now and November 18. All you need is a Battle.net account to download the game. Once you do, it's yours to keep and play forever. Note that this is the vanilla version of Destiny 2, so it doesn't come with the numerous expansions that have arrived since the game launched last year. Even so, there's plenty to do in it.

While it doesn't include Forsaken, the big Year 2 update Bungie launched in September, buying Forsaken gets you all Year 1 content as well. And if you want a taste of what comes in Forsaken, you'll be able to try out Gambit, one of Forsaken's major new modes, during a free trial that runs November 9-11. Gambit is a mode that combines PvE and PvP, so you can take down computer-controlled enemies or, at certain points, invade the opposing team's side and battle against them.

No Caption Provided

Destiny 2 is a shared-world first-person shooter that's packed with PvE and PvP content you can take on to level up your character and amass a collection of armor and weapons. In our original PvE and PvP content, Kallie Plagge wrote, "In true Destiny fashion, if you do something once, you'll probably end up doing it many more times. The difference with Destiny 2 is in the variety and accessibility of what's available, which cuts down on a lot of the frustration associated with grinding." And if you're interested in the expansions, you can read our Destiny 2: Forsaken review as well.

If you've been holding off on trying Destiny 2, you might as well give it a shot now. Just make sure to download it before it goes back up to full price on November 18.

BlizzCon 2018 Opening Ceremony News Recap And Stream

By Chris Pereira on Nov 03, 2018 12:17 am

Blizzard's annual fan convention, BlizzCon 2018, is officially underway. Today brought with it the opening ceremony, which effectively serves as a press conference for the company where it tends to make many of its big announcements for the year. The ceremony is ongoing, and you can watch it below. It started out with former Blizzard president Mike Morhaime, a fixture of these events, speaking to the crowd before handing things off to his successor, J Allen Brack.

Below, we've also rounded up all of the major news Blizzard has shared so far; it'll be updated as more news hits. While it likely won't have anything huge to share over the course of the weekend, we'll report back with any other big news, along with interviews and more.

New Heroes Of The Storm Character

Heroes of the Storm is expanding with a wide variety of content, much of which is coming in 2019. But most notable among the game's BlizzCon reveals was that of a new character, Orphea. Significantly, she is an original character for HotS--the very first one to be designed for the game, rather than being imported from another of Blizzard's franchises.

Destiny 2 Goes Free On PC (For Now)

Just prior to the opening ceremony getting underway, Activision announced that Destiny 2 on PC--which is available through Blizzard's Battle.net client--is now free to download. This isn't a permanent change, but if you claim it before it returns to its regular price, you can keep it permanently. You'll need to buy the Forsaken DLC to make the most of it, but it's still a nice freebie.

Lúcio-Ohs

During the pre-opening ceremony segment, Blizzard confirmed it is indeed set to release a breakfast cereal based on Overwatch in partnership with Kellogg's. It plays on a joke from the game itself and is called Lucio-Ohs. You can get a look at it in the video below.

Heroes Of The Storm Gets Its First Original Character, Orphea

By Chris Pereira on Nov 03, 2018 12:15 am

Heroes of the Storm, while functioning as an independent game, has also served as a mash-up of all things Blizzard. Its characters and levels all hail from Blizzard's franchises, whether those be its most well-known ones--Diablo, Warcraft, Starcraft--or older classics like The Lost Vikings. Now, for the first time, it's set to introduce an entirely original character.

The first big announcement during BlizzCon 2018's opening ceremony was the reveal of the newest addition to the HotS roster, Orphea. She's a white-haired character who is the daughter of the Raven Lord. She carries a large shield on her back that's adorned with a skull and was introduced with a cinematic trailer establishing her back story. That was followed by a gameplay montage showing off her abilities, which seem to center around summoning giant demonic entities to attack foes.

Orphea will be free for everyone attending BlizzCon, as well as everyone who purchased this year's Virtual Ticket.

Blizzard also teased some of the new content to come to the game in 2019. This includes a catapult update along with new quests, brawls, and skins. One new look that was showcased prominently was a janitor's outfit for the Skeleton King, as well as a floating soap bar mount. You can see these in the video below.

More details on what's to come for HotS are set to be announced over the weekend at BlizzCon.

True Detective Season 3 Trailer Reveals A Dark, Haunting Mystery

By Dan Auty on Nov 02, 2018 11:44 pm

The first season of HBO's True Detective was one of the most acclaimed new shows of recent years, and while Season 2 was a bit of a disappointment, expectations are high for Season 3. The series returns in January and the full trailer for the new season has now been released.

Unlike August's first teaser, this new trailer reveals a bit more about the plot. It's set across three decades, and stars Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage, House of Cards) as a cop who investigated the disappearance of a child in the Ozarks and is clearly still haunted by the case many years later. It certainly seems to have the dark and mysterious atmosphere that made Season 1 such a hit--check it out above.

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has written the entire season, with Deadwood creator David Milch lending a hand. The cast also includes Stephen Dorff (Blade), Ray Fisher (Justice League), Carmen Ejogo (Alien: Covenant), and Scoot McNairy (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Hold the Dark and Green Room director Jeremy Saulnier helms the first two episodes.

In a recent interview with Indiewire, Pizzolatto spoke about the striking setting for Season 3 and explained that the surroundings were vital to the season's story. "The mystery of the deep woods," he said. "The fog over the mountains. The rivers. The water. The sense of scale when you get out to some of this nature. Also, what the buildings say about the lives behind them. I feel like people will see it as an extension of character, something that embodies characters' emotional journeys while influencing those journeys."

"Sometimes we found things that seem to come straight out of the imagination, like this particular house that I don't want to go into it too much because of spoilers, but once we found it we couldn't believe it existed. It was almost exactly what I had written, and it needed to be very specific."

In Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Fight Alongside Origins' Protagonist In Naval Combat

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 02, 2018 11:32 pm

Ubisoft has announced that Bayek, the primary protagonist for Assassin's Creed Origins, is now available as a Legendary lieutenant for Assassin's Creed Odyssey. He's available as a Ubisoft Club reward and costs 40 Units.

In Odyssey, lieutenants can be assigned to sail with Kassandra/Alexios on their ship, the Adrestia. Assigned lieutenants provide certain perks for naval combat, talk to the Adrestia's crew when the ship is docked, and join Kassandra/Alexios when boarding enemy vessels. The strength of a lieutenant's perks and the amount of damage they can do in combat is determined by their rarity. Legendary is the strongest level, followed by Epic, Rare, and then Common.

Lieutenants can also serve another purpose. In Odyssey's skill tree--under the Stealth branch--there's an ability called "Call to Arms." Equipping and using this skill allows Kassandra/Alexios to summon one of their lieutenants while on land. At its weakest level, this skill will cause summoned lieutenants to distract enemies so Kassandra/Alexios remain undetected. At its strongest, summoned lieutenants will kill enemies.

Bayek isn't the first protagonist from a previous Assassin's Creed game to be an Odyssey lieutenant. Evie, one of the protagonists from Assassin's Creed Syndicate, is also available as a Ubisoft Club reward. She too is a Legendary lieutenant, and she increases javelin damage by 9%, fire javelin damage by 15%, and--when the Adrestia has low health--all damage by 18%. She uses a spear in combat. If you upgrade the Adrestia, you can assign multiple lieutenants and sail with both Evie and Bayek.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Undertale Creator Talks About Deltarune, Says New Game Is Far From Finished

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 02, 2018 11:12 pm

Toby Fox released the first chapter of a new RPG, called Deltarune, on October 31, 2018. Fox admits this three-hour chapter is all of Deltarune that he currently has, and the rest of the game is still years away from being finished.

Prior to the game's release, Fox wrote down his answers to questions about the new game that he thought people might have. He released his answers only after Deltarune: Chapter 1 came out, so his opinion on certain aspects of the game's development might have changed in response to the positive reception.

Regarding when when fans can expect the next chapter, Fox said that Chapter 1 took "a few years" to make, which is longer than development of Undertale's demo. As of right now, Fox doesn't want to spend more than seven years on any one project, so finishing Deltarune is "actually impossible" unless he recruits more people. "So I'm going to try making a team," Fox said. "Because I really want to make this. But I may not be able to succeed because I have no experience successfully directing a team and I have no idea who I'm going to work with."

Fox currently has no timetable for Deltarune, but he promises that he'll release all the chapters at once if the game is made. "I'm not doing pre-orders because I don't like those," he added. "It just seems like the best way not to burn anybody."

In his Q&A, Fox also addresses whether or not Deltarune will have multiple endings like Undertale. "No matter what you do the ending will be the same," he said. He also iterated that Deltarune's world is not the same as Undertale. Despite the two's similarity in setting and characters, Deltarune is a game featuring "different characters, that have lived different lives." He does add that Deltarune is "just a game you can play after you complete Undertale" though, so future chapters of the game might make more sense or take on additional meaning if you complete Undertale first.

The rest of the Q&A mostly deals with Fox's own complaints with Deltarune: Chapter 1--namely the battle system--and his affirmation that he's never going to use Kickstarter again. Fox took to Twitter after the Q&A's release to thank those who helped him on Deltarune: Chapter 1 and clarify a few more details. Most noticeable is his tweet about his inspiration for Deltarune. Although Undertale came out first, Deltarune was the original game he wanted to make.

Deltarune: Chapter 1 is available for PC. Undertale is available for PS4, PS Vita, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct News Recap: New Characters, Story Mode, And More

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 02, 2018 11:02 pm

Nintendo's November Direct is the last confirmed pre-release showcase of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate prior to the game's launch. The video revealed the final new characters included in the base game of Ultimate, while also detailing the new story mode, extra features, and post-launch content.

Our full coverage of the Direct and everything announced is listed out below. Ultimate is the fifth mainline game in the Super Smash Bros. franchise, incorporating every character seen in the series to date and adding a few more. Although most of the tried-and-true Super Smash Bros. formula returns in this most recent installment, Ultimate does make a few changes. Stage selection now occurs before players pick their fighters, for example. Also, certain characters, like Dark Pit and Daisy, have been made into Echo Fighters--meaning they're basically a reskin of another character, but certain attributes like speed or attack damage have been slightly tweaked.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7 for Nintendo Switch. The game also has an Ultimate Special edition--comes with a steelbook case and Super Smash Bros. styled Switch Pro controller--that's available for pre-order. New Amiibo figures are also on the way.

Final Two New Launch Characters

During the Direct, Nintendo announced the final two fighters that will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at launch--Ken and Incineroar. This finalizes Ultimate's starting roster of playable characters at 74.

Ken is an Echo Fighter of his Street Fighter rival Ryu. His default appearance is his Super Street Fighter II Turbo look. Although his attacks are similar to Ryu, Ken is a bit faster, has a different shaped Hadoken, and uses two different Final Smashes.

Incineroar is the final evolution of Pokemon Sun / Moon's fire starter, Litten. In Pokemon, Incineroar is a fire and dark type, but its appearance is based off that of a wrestler. As such, in Ultimate, Incineroar attacks with a flurry of powerful punches and throws, which are either bathed in flame or dark energy. Its Final Smash, Max Malicious Moonsault, is a variation of its Z-move from Pokemon Sun / Moon.

Story Mode

Ultimate's story mode is called World of Light. It's played similarly to a board game, where landing on certain spaces sparks an event that transports you to another area or into a battle. World of Light begins with the entire roster of fighters going into battle against a new, unknown threat. However, every fighter--except for Kirby--is easily defeated. Now on his own, Kirby has to track down and save his friends so the fight can be taken up once again. The story incorporates spoken dialogue and an anime-like soundtrack.

Spirits Mode

Spirits mode is a new addition to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The mode allows players to equip unique "Spirits" to enhance their chosen fighters.

Each fighter can equip one Primary Spirit to increase specific stats. Support Spirits can be assigned to Primary ones to account for any weaknesses. Each Spirit comes in one of four rarities--Novice, Advanced, Aces, and Legend--and are one of three types--Attack, Grab, and Shield. Attack Spirits are best against Grab, while Grab defeats Shield, and Shield trumps Attack. You can see all the Spirits we saw in our full list.

Post-Launch Character

Nintendo also announced the first post-launch fighter to come to Ultimate. Piranha Plant will be available for download around February 2019. The character is free, and downloads automatically if you choose to buy the digital version of Ultimate prior to January 31. If you buy the physical version, then you'll need to register online by January 31 and go into My Nintendo Rewards to get the character for free.

Additional DLC

Nintendo has promised more fighters, stages, and music tracks will be made available as post-launch DLC. There are five packs currently scheduled, each one including one fighter, one stage, and a few musical tracks. Each pack will cost $6 USD, but a $25 USD Fighters Pass can also be bought that bundles everything together.

The Fighters Pass will also include an outfit based on Rex--from Xenoblade Chronicles 2--for your Mii fighters. Nintendo is still developing all of the fighters included in the Fighters Pass, so players can expect each DLC pack to trickle out throughout 2019. Piranha Plant is not a part of any of the five DLC packs or the Fighters Pass, but it will eventually be sold as DLC if you don't download it while it's free.

Where Is Xur Today? Destiny 2 Xur Location And Exotics Guide (Nov. 2-6)

By Chris Pereira on Nov 02, 2018 10:50 pm

With Festival of the Lost nearing its end, Destiny 2 players have a new murder-mystery quest to take part in that could lead to a new Exotic, Thunderlord. But while that is a multi-week affair, those in a hurry to get their hands on an Exotic now can hit up Xur, the tendril-faced merchant who has popped up once again. As always, he has a slate of Exotics for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards. Here's where to find him and what he's selling right now.

For this latest appearance, Xur is located on Nessus. Spawn in at the Watcher's Grave landing zone and hop on your sparrow, then go straight ahead. A giant tree will be positioned just ahead; simply navigate to its base, hop on its lowest branch, and walk up. You should see Xur right in front of you, as pictured in the map below.

His lineup of Exotics, as per usual, includes one weapon and one piece of armor for each of the three classes. The weapon is the pulse rifle Vigilance Wing, which fires a five-round burst and--if a teammate dies--gives you health regeneration and increased movement speed. It also has the Last Stand perk, which provides you with further buffs if you're the only member of your fireteam left alive.

On the armor side, Warlocks can pick up the Starfire Protocol chest armor, which gives you an extra charge of Fusion Grenade and causes your grenades to recharge your Rift ability. Hunters can buy the Frost-EE5 leg armor (annoyingly styled as FR0ST-EE5), which causes sprint to give you energy and improves your sprint speed after dodging. Finally, Titans can get the Armamentarium chest armor, which gives you an additional grenade charge regardless of which grenade type you're using.

  • Vigilance Wing (Exotic pulse rifle) -- 29 Legendary Shards
  • Starfire Protocol (Exotic Warlock chest armor) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • Frost-EE5 (Exotic Hunter leg armor) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • Armamentarium (Exotic Titan chest armor) -- 23 Legendary Shards

Alongside the direct-purchase items above, Xur has the Fated Engram. This is guaranteed to decrypt into a Year One Exotic you don't already own, making it a good way to fill out your collection--if you can afford it.

Even if you can't, the latest Destiny 2 update mercifully makes Exotic duplicates less likely to drop. The game now accounts for the items you've already discovered when determining what drops. Although duplicates are still possible, dupes are more likely to be armor than weapons, because armor pieces feature random perks, meaning there is a potential upside to finding something you already have.

Xur is here until the weekly reset on November 6, which is also when the Halloween-themed Festival of the Lost event wraps up. If you haven't already, it's worth taking part in, as you can get a 600 Power level auto rifle called Horror Story for doing so. You can see all of the Festival of the Lost items in our roundup, and get some Haunted Forest tips to help you make the most of your time in it.

Smash Bros. Ultimate: All The New Amiibo Announced

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 10:50 pm

Nintendo is releasing a new line of Amiibo for each of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new and returning characters. We've already gotten a look at figures of Wolf, Ridley, and Inkling, and during the final Super Smash Bros. Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed another handful of Amiibo and when they'll arrive.

The aforementioned Wolf, Ridley, and Inkling figures are launching alongside the game on December 7. King K. Rool and Ice Climbers Amiibo will follow next year on February 15, while figures of Young Link, Daisy, Pichu, and newcomers Isabelle and Ken will all release sometime in 2019.

On top of those Amiibo, Nintendo announced it will release a figure of the surprise DLC character Piranha Plant, which game director Masahiro Sakura says has a "nice curved form to it." The Piranha Plant Amiibo is likewise launching on February 15, while the character itself is slated to join the game "around" February.

In addition to the new figures, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be compatible with all existing Smash Bros. Amiibo. A number of these figures will be re-released near the game's launch. However, as before, some will only be available at certain retailers. The reprinted Pac-Man Amiibo, for example, is exclusive to Best Buy stores.

We learned a ton more details about Super Smash Bros. Ultimate during the game's final Direct presentation, including who the last two characters on the base roster are: Street Fighter's Ken and Pokemon's Incineroar. Nintendo also announced its DLC plans for the game and shared some new information on its Spirits and Adventure modes. You can catch up on all the biggest news from the broadcast with our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct roundup.

Smash Bros. isn't the only upcoming Switch game to receive Amiibo. Blizzard also announced a Loot Goblin Amiibo figure for Diablo III: Eternal Edition. This figure is notable for having a unique design and packaging than other Amiibo, and it's available exclusively at GameStop.

Smash Bros. Ultimate Adds Ken And Incineroar To The Roster

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 10:45 pm

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has grown even bigger. During its final Smash Bros. Direct presentation, Nintendo unveiled the last pair newcomers making their debut on the base roster: Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon. [Update: It turns out these aren't the final characters; Piranha Plant will be available as a pre-order bonus, and five other fighters are coming as DLC.]

Ken is an Echo Fighter of his rival Ryu, Street Fighter's previous representative in the Smash series. His appearance in Ultimate is based on his look in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. He's a bit faster than Ryu and has a handful of other differences, such as a different shaped Hadoken. He also has two Final Smashes: Shinryuken and Shippu Jinraikyaku.

The other new fighter joining the roster, Incineroar, is one of the starter Pokemon from the series' latest installments, Sun and Moon. Incineroar's moves are inspired by pro wrestling; it has powerful throws and, like a wrestler, poses after every attack. Its neutral Smash attack is Darkest Lariat, while its Final Smash is Max Malicious Moonsault, a more powerful version of its Z Move from Sun and Moon.

With Ken and Incineroar's announcement, there are now 74 playable characters on the Super Smash Bros. roster. Along with every fighter who has ever appeared in a previous Smash Bros. game, Ultimate introduces a number of other newcomers to the series such as Ridley from Metroid, Simon and Richter Belmont from the Castlevania series, and Animal Crossing's Isabelle. You can see everyone who is playable in our full Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster list.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches for Nintendo Switch on December 7. Nintendo is also releasing a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle more than a month before the game's release date. The bundle launches this Friday, November 2, and comes with a Smash-themed Switch dock and set of Joy-Con controllers, as well as a digital copy of the game--although the game won't unlock until December 7.

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct revealed plenty of new details and announcements. You can watch the presentation again and check back on GameSpot for more coverage.

Pokemon: Final Free Legendaries Available Now, Here's How To Get Them

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 10:35 pm

Since February, The Pokemon Company has been giving away a new Legendary Pokemon for free every month as part of its massive Year of Legendary Pokemon campaign. We've now reached the final month of the promotion, and for the last giveaway, The Pokemon Company has saved two Legendaries from the classic Gold and Silver versions: Lugia and Ho-Oh.

For a limited time, you'll be able to get one of the Johto Legendaries in any of the seventh-generation Pokemon games on 3DS, but the way to claim them differs depending on where you live. Those in the US will, once again, need to visit a certain retailer to pick up a download code for the Pokemon; this time, the code will be available at GameStop from November 2-25. UK residents, meanwhile, will need to go to a participating Game store to pick up a code, while those in Canada can get one from EB Games.

As before, which Legendary you receive depends on which version you own; those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Lugia, while players with Moon or Ultra Moon will get Ho-Oh. The Pokemon will also come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap in the Ultra games, have a higher level, and know different movesets. You can see the full details below.

Once you've picked up a download code for the Legendaries, you'll need to redeem it using the Mystery Gift feature from the games' main menu. Select that, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Connect to the internet when prompted and input the download code; your Legendary will then be downloaded into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.

While you're at GameStop, you also still have a chance to pick up a free download code for the new Mythical Pokemon Zeraora, which is starring alongside Lugia in the latest Pokemon animated film, The Power of Us. The Zeraora distribution is scheduled to end on November 9. You can see all the other Pokemon giveaways going on now in our roundup of all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Spirits: Rarities, Affinities, Special Abilities, And More

By Steve Watts on Nov 02, 2018 10:15 pm

A final Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate introduced a whole new mode, which pairs hand-in-hand with its revised way to include beloved characters from a wide variety of new and retro video games. The new "Spirits" system replaces Trophies, letting the company give power-up attributes to still artwork rather than attempt to render 3D models of every character it wishes to reference.

You earn Spirits by battling in Spirits Mode, and then they can be used to buff your character. The Spirits come in two varieties: Primary Spirits, which mostly have stat increases, and Support Spirits, which attach to Primary Spirits and imbue you with special skills or abilities. Spirits are ranked by rarity: Novice, Advanced, Ace, and Legend. They also come in three power types: Attack (Red), Grab (Green), and Shield (Blue), in a rock-paper-scissors circle of vulnerabilities.

The presentation showed dozens of Spirits rapid-fire style and with some attributes obscured by the various menus. While this list isn't complete, it shows several of the Spirits shown so far, with their special attributes, color affinity, and rarity. Check out the list to see just how deep Nintendo is reaching with its references.

Get 4 Free PC Games In November With Twitch / Amazon Prime

By Chris Reed on Nov 02, 2018 09:57 pm

It's November, which means a new set of PC games is available for free to anyone with an Amazon Prime account. All you have to do is link your account to Twitch, and you'll get a new batch of PC games for free each month. The number of free games varies, but this month you can download four games at no additional cost.

The biggest title on the list is Overcooked, a game that involves up to four players working together to prepare meals as orders come in. Each level takes place in a different kitchen, and as you progress the layouts become less and less hospitable for cooking. For instance, one level is set on a slippery iceberg and another on a busy street.

Not to be confused with Overcooked is Overload, the next free game for November. It's an exploration-based first-person shooter that's set in zero gravity. Then there's AER: Memories of Old, an adventure game that takes place on a series of islands that are floating in the sky. Luckily, you can turn into a bird to travel between them. Rounding out this month's freebies is the 12th century point-and-click adventure game The Pillars of the Earth.

You can claim all of these games here, but note you'll need the Twitch desktop app for Windows to download them. While you're on the site, make sure to grab any other free items for Prime members you might have missed, including cowboy gear for PUBG and a Golden Loot Box for Overwatch.

Diablo 3 Switch Gets An Amiibo, And It's Not What You'd Expect

By Chris Pereira on Nov 02, 2018 09:06 pm

With Diablo III now available on Nintendo Switch (coinciding with the start of BlizzCon 2018), Blizzard has revealed another notable piece of news for Nintendo fans. Diablo is getting its very first Amiibo figure, and odds are, it's probably not any of the characters you would guess.

As Blizzard shared on Twitter, the figure is not Diablo himself, nor any off the other Prime Evils. It's also not Tyrael, Malthael, Deckard Cain, or any of the playable classes. Instead, it's the mischievous loot goblin who gets the Amiibo treatment. (Separately, we're also getting some new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo figures.)

No Caption Provided

The loot goblin Amiibo launches sometime in December; a specific release date wasn't shared, but a listing for $16 on GameStop's website is live and lists it as an exclusive. But it's notable for featuring a unique design, both in terms of the figure itself and the box. The box looks more like a Funko Pop than the standard Amiibo packaging we're accustomed to, while the figure has a cartoonish look. It actually appears to be the same design as an earlier Cute But Deadly figurine.

The figure's exact function in the Switch game isn't detailed, but Blizzard teases that you may be able to use it to access The Vault, a secret treasure goblin area filled with loot.

While certainly not imposing foes or significant characters in the lore, loot goblins do embody the loot chase that makes Diablo so enjoyable. Treasure goblins are a type of enemy you can happen upon in Diablo III. When first attacked, these will begin to run away, but as you continue hitting them, they drop various loot--gold, gems, blood shards, weapons, armor--depending on what type they are. It's a real treat, but also an intense race to ensure you kill it and earn the maximum lot before it can summon a portal and jump through.

Diablo III's launch on Switch represents a great new way to play the game, even if it does lose some of the visual fidelity of the PC version. You can read all about what to expect in our Diablo III Switch review.

Game Of Thrones Season 8's Scripts Made This Cast Member Cry

By Dan Auty on Nov 02, 2018 08:55 pm

We don't exactly know when in 2019 Game of Thrones Season 8 will arrive, but we do know it will be the final batch of episodes for the hugely popular fantasy show. It's set to be an emotional ride for fans of the show, and it seems it was just as moving for the cast when they first read the script together.

In a new feature in Entertainment Weekly, some details of the full cast read of Season 8's scripts have been revealed. The article states that showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss started the session by asking the cast members to avoid doing anything that might give away any of the new season's secrets, no matter how small. One unnamed actor is quoted as saying they were told: "Don't even take a photo of your boots on the ground of the set."

The article goes on to state that it was a particularly emotional experience for Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow. Unlike most of his fellow cast members, Harington didn't read the scripts prior to the table read, so he was experiencing the show's ending for the first time. He reportedly cried twice during the table read, and although we don't know the reason for the first time because of potential spoilers, EW reports that the second time was when they reached the end of the final episode. "The second time was the very end," he said. "Every season, you read at the end of the last script 'End of Season 1,' or 'End of Season 2.' This read End of Game of Thrones."

EW have also revealed that at one stage Benioff and Weiss were considering finishing the show with three theatrical movies rather than six episodes. Season 8 will contain the biggest battle of the show's history and the pair were concerned that HBO's budget might not allow them to do what they wanted.

In related news, details have started the emerge about the Game of Thrones spin-off show, which starts production next year. According to Game of Thrones creator George R. R. Martin, the series will be titled The Long Night. It will star Naomi Watts and Joshua Whitehouse, and the pilot is written by Jane Goldman (Kick-Ass, the Kingsmen movies), who has created the series with Martin and will serve as its showrunner. It's set to take place thousands of years before the current series, during the Age of Heroes.

The Meg Sequel Is Happening, Producer Confirms

By Dan Auty on Nov 02, 2018 08:53 pm

The giant shark thriller The Meg was one of this summer's biggest box office surprises. While the movie, which stars Jason Statham, was expected to do well, it far exceeded industry predictions and made more than $521 million at the worldwide box office. It has now been confirmed that the sequel is in development.

As reported by Variety, producer Catherine Xujun Ying told attendees at the US-China Entertainment Summit in LA that a follow-up to The Meg is "definitely the plan." Xujun Ying went to state that "it's still very early stages right now, but we're working or starting to work on it. We'd like to keep it a secret at this time." The Meg is the most successful US/Chinese co-production ever made, and Variety states that there are also plans for theme park attractions based on the movie in China.

There is plenty of existing material that filmmakers can dip into for a second film. Steve Alten's novel, on which the movie is based, is the first of five books. In a recent interview with Slashfilm, Meg director Jon Turtletaub spoke about the challenges of making a sequel. "We have a whole series of books with a whole series of ideas, so there's all kinds of stuff in there to do," he said. "Jaws becomes a template of things to do and not do. The sequels to Jaws very quickly became real stretches to try to find another way to do this movie."

"Part of [the problem] is in your first movie, there's the mystery of what it is," he continued. "And by the time you get to your second movie, you don't have that. And you can very quickly go too big, too fast. Unless you have something bigger. And then you need something big and next thing you know there's a movie called Super Megalodon Versus Super Duper Megalodon. And no one wants to see that."

In related news, Statham will next be seen in the Fast and Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw. The film sees Statham and Dwayne Johnson reprise their roles from the last couple of Fast & Furious movies, and it hit theaters next August. Last month, Johnson revealed a moody new image from the production.

Red Dead 2 Legendary Hunting Tips: Where To Find Legendary Animals And Pelts

By Alessandro Fillari on Nov 02, 2018 08:50 pm

In Red Dead Redemption 2, hunting is an important part of exploration and survival in the vast open world. In addition to finding food and other necessary supplies, you'll be able to use materials taken from fallen prey to craft outfits and talismans, which unlock special perks that amplify Arthur's main attributes. As you travel, you may even stumble upon an elusive animal that other explorers have rarely seen. Your first encounter with such a beast will be the Legendary Grizzly Bear, which can offer up a legendary bear pelt if you're able take it down.

These Legendary Animals can be found across the many regions of the map and take some extra effort to hunt. While some of these are small in stature, there are many that tower in size over Arthur and are quite dangerous in a fight. But if you're able to take them out, you'll acquire the means to craft some of the game's most valuable accessories and outfits. These particular animals offer the rarest pelts and materials you can find, which can be turned in to the local Trappers and Fences--those shady, black market dealers offering up some of the rarest goods. But rest assured, any materials that can't fit in your bags will be sent straight to the respective merchants.

In this feature, we're giving you all the details you need in order to track and hunt each of the game's Legendary Animals. If you want some extra tips for general survival and even fishing--which has its own set of Legendary Fish--be sure to check out our guides and features relating to each of Red Dead 2's most involved gameplay systems. Furthermore, be sure to check out our new weekly series QuickDraw, which focuses on the game's numerous gameplay features and along with a broader look on the impact of the Red Dead series.

Pokemon Ultra Sun / Ultra Moon: Every Free Legendary Available Right Now

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 08:45 pm

Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon launched for 3DS back in November, marking the mainline series' swan song on Nintendo's dual-screen handheld. As it did for the original Sun and Moon versions, The Pokemon Company is continuing to support the pair in the months following their release with free items and Pokemon. The company has a lot of giveaways lined up for 2018, which it has dubbed the Year of Legendary Pokemon, though those certainly won't be the only freebies players can expect to find this year.

We've rounded up all of the free distributions currently running for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon below, many of which are also open to Sun and Moon players. We'll be updating this list as more giveaways are announced, so check back often to see what free items and Pokemon you can get. In the meantime, you can learn more about the latest Pokemon games in our rundown of everything new in Pokemon Ultra Sun And Ultra Moon. We also break down the differences between Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, if you're still unsure of which version to pick up.

Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Free Gifts

Zeraora -- Ends Nov. 9

No Caption Provided

Players will have their first chance to get Zeraora, the new Mythical Pokemon debuting in Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us, from October 19 - November 9. The Thunderclap Pokemon is being distributed via a download code at various retailers; those in the US can pick up a code at GameStop, while UK residents will be able to get one at Game stores. The Pokemon is level 50 and comes equipped with an Air Balloon, which allows it to avoid Ground-type attacks during battle until the balloon is popped.

Lugia/Ho-Oh - Ends Nov. 25

The Johto Legendaries Lugia and Ho-Oh are the final giveaways as part of the Year of Legendary Pokemon. Once again, players in the US will need to travel to a GameStop store to pick up a free download code for the Pokemon, and the one you receive depends on which version you're playing: those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Lugia, while Moon or Ultra Moon players will receive Ho-Oh.

Magearna

Unlike most other gift Pokemon, the Mythical Steel/Fairy-type, Magearna, is not available through the Mystery Gift feature, but via a QR code, which is compatible with Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon. After defeating the Elite Four and completing the main story, you can use the QR Scanner to scan the code below. Once you've done that, visit the Antiques shop in Hau'oli City and pick your Magearna up from the deliveryman waiting there.

Dialga/Palkia -- DONE

Kicking off the Year of Legendary Pokemon are the Space and Time Pokemon, Palkia and Dialga. The two are being distributed in the US at GameStop from February 2-28, while UK residents can pick them up from participating Game stores. The Legendary you receive will depend on which version you have: players with either Sun or Ultra Sun receive Palkia, while those playing either Moon or Ultra Moon get Dialga. You'll need to redeem your download code by May 23 to claim the Legendaries.

Regigigas/Heatran -- DONE

The Year of Legendary Pokemon continues with another pair of Legendaries originally from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl: Regigigas and Heatran. As before, the Pokemon you receive will depend on which seventh generation title you're playing: Sun and Ultra Sun players will get Regigigas, while those with a copy of Moon or Ultra Moon will receive Heatran.

Unlike the Dialga and Palkia distribution, The Pokemon Company is giving away the download code for Regigigas and Heatran in the March Pokemon Trainer Club newsletter, so you'll need to create a free Trainer Club Account here and opt-in to the newsletter before March 1 in order to get the code.

Entei/Raikou -- DONE

The Johto Legendary dogs Entei and Raikou are April's free gift for Pokemon players. The Pokemon are being distributed in the US via a free download code from participating Target stores, and as before, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you're playing: those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Entei, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will receive Raikou. In Europe, the Legendaries are being distributed as a free online Mystery Gift until April 25.

Xerneas/Yveltal -- DONE

Pokemon X and Y's cover monsters, Xerneas and Yveltal, are the free Legendary Pokemon available in May. From May 4-27, US players can snag a download code for the monsters at no charge from GameStop stores, while those in the UK can grab one from Game. As usual, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you're playing: Sun and Ultra Sun players will get Yveltal, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will end up with Xerneas.

Shiny Zygarde -- DONE

The Kalos Legendary Zygarde is June's free Pokemon. Regardless of which game you own, you'll get the Order Pokemon, although its moveset will differ depending upon which version you're playing. What makes this particular Zygarde special is that it's a Shiny. Players in the US can pick up a free download code for the Legendary at GameStop from June 1-24, while those in Europe and Australia can get it via Mystery Gift over the Nintendo Network.

Tornadus/Thundurus -- DONE

Tornadus and Thundurus from Pokemon Black and White are July's free Legendary Pokemon, and as usual, the one you receive will depend on which version you're playing. Those with a copy of Sun or Ultra Sun will get Thundurus, while players who have Moon or Ultra Moon will receive Tornadus. To get the Legendaries, US residents will need to pick up a free download code at Target stores from July 13-28, while players in Europe can download the Pokemon over the Nintendo Network via Mystery Gift.

Groudon/Kyogre -- DONE

The cover monsters of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, Groudon and Kyogre, are the two free Legendaries available in August. In the US, the Pokemon are being distributed via a free download code, which can be picked up at a participating GameStop store from August 3-26. As with previous giveaways, the Legendary you receive depends on which version you own; those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Kyogre, while players who have Moon or Ultra Moon will get Groudon.

Celebi -- DONE

No Caption Provided

Players who purchase either Pokemon Gold or Silver from the 3DS Eshop by September 21, 2018 will receive a bonus download code for the Mythical Pokemon Celebi. The code can be redeemed in Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, or Ultra Moon. We've outlined the steps you need to take to find and redeem the code here.

Latios/Latias -- DONE

September's freebies are the twin Eon Pokemon, Latios and Latias. Once again, the Legendaries are being distributed in the US at a specific retailer--this time Best Buy--from September 2-29, and the Pokemon you get depends on which version you own: Sun and Ultra Sun players will receive the more defensive Latias, while Moon and Ultra Moon players will get the more attack-oriented Latios. Players in Europe and Australia can download the Legendaries from the Nintendo Network until September 23.

Shiny Poipole -- DONE

No Caption Provided

To celebrate the release of Pokemon TCG's new Dragon Majesty expansion, The Pokemon Company is giving away a Shiny Poipole for a limited time. US players will be able to pick up a download code at GameStop stores from September 17 - October 7, while those in the UK can grab one at Smyths until October 15. Unlike a typical Poipole, this one is white and gold, and it already comes with Dragon Pulse, the move it needs to know in order to evolve into Naganadel.

Reshiram/Zekrom -- DONE

Pokemon Black and White's cover monsters, Reshiram and Zekrom, are the free Legendaries up for grabs during the month of October. Players who live in the US will need to pick up a download code from them at the electronics section of participating Target stores from October 19-28, while those in Europe and Australia can download them over the Nintendo Network from October 5-21. If you have a copy of Sun or Ultra Sun, you'll receive Zekrom, while those with Moon or Ultra Moon will get Reshiram.

Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina -- DONE

Players who have a Pokemon Bank account can receive the final forms of all three Alola starters--Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina--as a free bonus for using the cloud storage service. What sets these three Pokemon apart from the ones you can obtain in-game is that they each come with their Hidden Abilities, which aren't typically available through normal play. You'll receive a notification about the gifts the next time you access Pokemon Bank, and they can be picked up in your game of choice from the deliveryman waiting in any Pokemon Center.

New For Netflix (November 2018): Movies, TV Shows, And Originals Coming And Going (US)

By Mat Elfring on Nov 02, 2018 08:42 pm

November is officially here, and that means it's almost time to spend the day gorging yourself on turkey, making sure to avoid the family you're forced to hang out with. What better way to avoid forced conversation than sitting around the television, watching Netflix, together? Netflix has revealed what is coming to its service for the full month, as well as what is leaving the subscription service.

Kicking off the month, Netflix brought a slew of movies on Thursday, November 1. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll need to watch From Dusk Till Dawn. The 1996 action/horror film is by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino and follows two criminals on the run who take a family in an RV hostage. They all end up at a strip club in Mexico that's filled with vampires. Also now on the service is Cape Fear, Marvel's Doctor Strange, and Sixteen Candles.

If Netflix's originals are more up your alley, then you're in luck, as there are 46 movies and series coming in November. Most notable is the return of House of Cards, for Season 6, which will be its final season. This time around, Kevin Spacey won't be involved after sexual abuse allegations came out against the House of Cards star. The final season will follow Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as the President of the United States, which was revealed in the first trailer.

There are plenty of other original series to get excited about as well. Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns for another season to make fun of some terrible, old movies, coming November 22. Also, She-Ra--He-Man's superpowered cousin--is getting a fun and bubbly reboot on November 16. Along with a new collection of The Great British Baking Show on November 9, you'll have a ton to watch.

The full the list for Netflix is below, and make sure to check out what's coming to Hulu and Amazon for the month of November as well.

All Fallout 76 Beta Dates & Times (PS4, Xbox One, PC): When And How Long Is The Next Test?

By Array on Nov 02, 2018 08:37 pm

The beta for Fallout 76 continues, but as you read this, you likely can't actually play it. That's because Bethesda only has its servers available at certain times; trying to get in outside of these specific windows will yield a "login failed" error. Below, we've got all the details you need to know regarding exactly when you can play. At the time of this writing, the next test takes place on November 3 with a test that will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Read on for the full schedule (so far).

Fallout 76's debut test was available only on Xbox One for a four-hour window on October 23. That has since passed, with Bethesda deeming it an "amazing start." Additional test periods will continue to be available for a limited time. The purpose of this is to force players together at a specific time to stress test and put the game through its paces. Sessions will typically last 4-8 hours in a given day, and then the beta will be inoperable again until the next session. The process will repeat between now and the game's release date on November 14.

Pokemon Go Guide: How To Catch The Legendary Giratina

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 08:15 pm

Pokemon Go's third annual Halloween event has recently ended, and it brought a handful of new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon to catch--including another Legendary Pokemon. For a limited time, you'll be able to encounter the cover monster from Pokemon Platinum, Giratina, as a Raid Battle at Gyms, making it the first Gen 4 Legendary to arrive in Pokemon Go.

While the Halloween event concluded on November 1, Giratina will be available in Raid Battles until November 20. This likely won't be the last time it appears; Niantic frequently reintroduces previous Legendaries to the game, although that typically isn't until some time after their initial run, so you'll want to add a Giratina to your collection soon while you still have the opportunity. Here are some tips for catching one.

Battling Giratina

Like most of the other Legendary Pokemon to appear in Pokemon Go, Giratina will occasionally spawn as a Raid Battle at Gyms. In order to catch one, you'll first need to travel to a Gym where a Giratina Raid is taking place and battle it. Giratina is a tough opponent to bring down, however, so you'll need to team up with other players in real life if you hope to defeat it. If you've hit Pokemon Go's level cap of 40, you should be able to bring Giratina down with a team of 6-8 players, although the more players you have around, the better your chances of success are.

Giratina is a dual Ghost/Dragon Pokemon, which is a unique combination due to the fact each of those types is weak against itself in battle. Dragon Pokemon in particular fare very well against Giratina, so you'll want to bring monsters like Dragonite, Salamence, and Rayquaza along if you've managed to obtain any of them. Gengar and other Ghost Pokemon are also effective, although their typing and generally frail defenses make them susceptible to Giratina's attacks as well.

Outside of those choices, Dark-type Pokemon are likewise effective against Giratina, particularly if the one you encounter during the Raid knows Ghost attacks, which Dark Pokemon resist. Tyranitar, Absol, and Houndoom in particular will fare well against it. Mewtwo is a great choice to bring along as well if it knows Shadow Ball, and Pokemon with Ice or Fairy attacks are a decent alternative.

Catching Giratina

If you've managed to successfully defeat Giratina, you'll be rewarded with a ton of XP, Stardust, and items. You'll also receive a handful of Premier Balls, the only type of Poke Ball you can use to catch Legendaries. The number of Premier Balls you receive will vary depending on which Pokemon you use and if you battled it alongside your friends.

Much like Mewtwo, Giratina will be standing fairly far in the distance when you're trying to capture it. It will also attack often, so you'll need to time your throws very carefully. To maximize your chances of catching one, use a Golden Razz Berry before each throw. Giratina is slated to leave Raid Battles at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on November 20, so good luck!

October has come and gone, but if you hurry you can still get your free PS4, PS3, and PS Vita games for the month, assuming you're a PlayStation Plus member. Sony waits for the first Tuesday of each month to change the PS Plus freebies, so you have until November 6 to get your games before they go back to regular price.

The PS4 games on offer for October are Friday the 13th: The Game and Laser League. Friday the 13th is an the online multiplayer game that gives one player control of Jason Voorhees, a powerful villain tasked with finding and killing relatively helpless teens who are controlled by the other players. Those players, meanwhile, must avoid the masked murder and try to escape. Laser League is an online futuristic, neon-drenched arena sports game.

Mythical Pokemon Zeraora Available Now For Free For Ultra Sun And Moon

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 08:00 pm

Pokemon fans now have a chance to get their hands on October's free Legendary Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but those aren't the only rare monsters up for grabs this month. To commemorate the release of the upcoming Lost Thunder expansion for Pokemon TCG, The Pokemon Company is also giving away a rare Mythical Pokemon for the 3DS games: the Thunderclap Pokemon Zeraora.

First revealed this past April, Zeraora is a fast, cat-like Electric-type monster debuting in the latest Pokemon movie, The Power of Us. This marks the first opportunity players will have to get their hands on one; like other Mythical Pokemon, Zeraora isn't obtainable within the actual games, so you'll want to add one to your collection while you can.

As usual, the way you'll be able to get Zeraora depends on where you live. In the US, players can pick up a download code for the Mythical Pokemon at GameStop stores from October 19 to November 9; in the UK, The Pokemon Company is distributing codes for Zeraora at Game stores from October 1 to November 15.

Unlike most of the other free Pokemon given out this year, you can only redeem the Zeraora code in either Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Regardless of which version you claim it in, the Pokemon comes at level 50 and is equipped with an Air Balloon, an item that negates Ground-type attacks until it is popped. It also knows the moves Plasma Fists, Thunder Punch, Close Combat, and Thunder.

To redeem your download code, first select Mystery Gift from the games' main menu, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Input your code and Zeraora will be downloaded into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.

In addition to Zeraora, The Pokemon Company is giving away two Legendary Pokemon originally from the Black and White versions this month: Reshiram and Zekrom. The pair will be available in the US via a download code, this one from Target stores. You can see all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon available right now.

Pokemon Go Gengar Day Coming This Weekend With Shiny Gengar

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 07:45 pm

Ghost Pokemon have been a common sight in Pokemon Go this past week thanks to the recent Halloween 2018 festivities, and soon one will be the star of its very own special event. Niantic has announced it is hosting a Gengar Day on Saturday, November 3, bringing the Shadow Pokemon to Raid Battles for a limited time.

Like Pokemon Go's monthly Community Days, Gengar Day will be a brief event, only running for three hours. During that window of time, the Shadow Pokemon will appear as a Raid Battle at Gyms. These require a Raid Pass to join, but you'll be able to get five of them for free from a nearby Gym to help you participate.

Not only will Gengar spawn frequently at Gyms during the event, you'll also have a chance of coming across a Shiny one. You may not initially be able to tell it's a Shiny at first glance, however; unlike most other Pokemon, Gengar's Shiny variant is only subtly different from its standard form. It's still worth getting one, though, particularly if you plan on picking up Let's Go Pikachu or Let's Go Eevee for Nintendo Switch when they launch next month.

Any Gen 1 Pokemon you catch in Pokemon Go can be transferred to the Switch titles, where you'll then be able to recapture them at a new facility called the Go Park. If you do manage to find and get a Shiny Gengar during the upcoming Gengar Day event, you'll want to bring it over to Let's Go; Gengar is one of the few Pokemon capable of Mega Evolving, and Shiny Mega Gengar (pictured above) is one of the coolest-looking Pokemon in the games. You can find the hours for each region's Gengar Day event below.

Pokemon Go's Halloween event is scheduled to end on November 1. It introduced a handful of new Ghost and Dark Pokemon to the game, along with the Gen 4 Legendary Pokemon Giratina, which will appear in Raid Battles until November 20. You'll also be able to encounter another Gen 4 Ghost Pokemon, Spiritomb, by completing a new Special Research questline.

Meanwhile, Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee launch for Nintendo Switch on November 16. As previously mentioned, players can transfer monster from Go to Let's Go, and doing so is the key to getting the new Mythical Pokemon Meltan, which we recently learned is able to evolve into a Pokemon called Melmetal. You can read more about the games in our hands-on impressions of Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee.

New Pokemon Let's Go Trailer Shows Off The Creepy Lavender Town

By Kevin Knezevic on Nov 02, 2018 07:30 pm

With Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee less than a month away from their Nintendo Switch release, The Pokemon Company is continuing to build excitement for the games by sharing another new trailer. Fittingly for Halloween, this one focuses entirely on the creepiest location in the Kanto region: Lavender Town.

The trailer, which you can watch above, offers our first look at how the notorious village has been reimagined for the upcoming Switch games. As in the original Pokemon Yellow version, Lavender Town is a small settlement that's home to the Pokemon Tower--a tall, foreboding structure that houses the graves of departed Pokemon. Naturally, the tower is haunted; as you can see in the video, its floors are wreathed in a ethereal purple mist, and your poor partner Pikachu or Eevee shivers with fear as you explore.

The Pokemon Tower is also the only place in the Kanto region where you can capture Ghost-type Pokemon, and in the new trailer, you can see Gastly, Haunter, and even Gengar battling it out amongst all of the Pokemon graves. Perhaps even more notably, you can also hear the new rendition of Lavender Town's distinctive, eerie theme, which remains one of the area's most unforgettable features (and has spawned its share of urban legends).

No Caption Provided
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2Gallery image 3Gallery image 4Gallery image 5

While Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee are based largely on the aforementioned Pokemon Yellow, they also diverge from the classic game in some notable ways. Team Rocket's Jessie and James appear more frequently throughout the course of the adventure than they did in the original, and this time around, tough post-game Master Trainers will appear around the Kanto region after you've defeated the Elite Four.

The Let's Go games also allow you to obtain a brand-new Mythical Pokemon, Meltan. This rare Steel-type can be captured in Pokemon Go and transferred over to the Switch titles via the new Go Park facility. Meltan is also notable for being the first Mythical Pokemon capable of evolving; if you feed it enough Candy in Pokemon Go, it will transform into the hulking Melmetal.

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee launch for Nintendo Switch on November 16. The games will release alongside the Poke Ball Plus, a Poke Ball-shaped controller that is compatible with both the Switch titles and Pokemon Go; you can read more details in our Pokemon Let's Go pre-order guide. For more on the games, be sure to check out our most recent hands-on impressions of Pokemon Let's Go, as well as our interview with Let's Go director Junichi Masuda.

Red Dead 2 Cheat Codes List: Here's Exactly How To Discover And Activate Them

By Alessandro Fillari on Nov 02, 2018 07:13 pm

Rockstar Game's latest release, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, is a game where you'll want to spend a great deal of time uncovering all of its secrets and details. You can spend 50-plus hours just completing the main story, slowing accumulating wealth and honor. But if you're someone looking for a shortcut--who wants to find a quick path to success while living the life of an outlaw in the last days of the wild west--we've got you covered. Much like the original game and GTA V, Red Dead 2 features an assortment of cheat codes that unlock additional resources, with some injecting odd gimmicks and quirks into your game.

To find the Cheats menu, press the pause button and select the Settings option. In this menu, press Triangle or Y (on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively) to pull up the Cheats menu. From here, you'll find a long list of locked cheats. Initially, you won't know what any of these do or how to unlock them. Many of these codes can be activated by putting in the correct phrase, but others will require some extra time and effort.

In addition to finding passwords while exploring the world, some of which are written into the ground, throughout the game you'll find newspapers for sale in towns, and some of these offer clues as to how to unlock these extra fun options. More newspapers will become available after completing main missions, which you'll see detailed in news articles. While many of these cheats introduce some mostly benign bits of fun--such as keeping your character, Arthur Morgan, perpetually drunk--activating these codes at any time will have some consequences for your save game. Once you activate these codes, all Trophies and Achievements will be deactivated on this particular file. As a result, before trying any of these codes, be sure to make a separate file for your main save.

With over 30 codes to unlock, some of which have some specific requirements, we've collected a list of cheats that we've uncovered thus far. We also have a separate feature discussing some of the most entertaining and best cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check back with GameSpot as we update this page with new codes, and how to find them.

The Most Useful Red Dead 2 Cheat Codes For Extra Fun

By Alessandro Fillari on Nov 02, 2018 07:09 pm

While Red Dead Redemption 2 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One takes place in a very realistic world where many dynamic, and engrossing systems play off one another, this is a Rockstar game. As such, there are plenty of opportunities to engage in dumb and ridiculous fun. Beyond what you can make happen on your own, much like the original game, you can access a variety of cheat codes in the game to enhance and fundamentally alter aspects of your to suit your needs. Though we strongly recommend finishing the main story and seeing all the key events before trying out these codes out, you're free to use those to your liking at any time (though some codes do require advancing to a certain point in the story first).

In order to start messing around with these codes, you'll need to input the key phrases into the Cheats menu--which is accessible in the Settings option in the pause menu. While many of these codes can be used at any time, many of these options will require some extra effort to unlock. As of now, we haven't discovered all of them, and several of them will needed to be unlocked after acquiring specific newspapers from the various towns throughout the game. However, before you activate these cheats, you'll need to know that doing so will deactivate all Achievements and Trophies for your save game after the initial use. So before you go crazy with these codes, be sure to make a separate save file.

And with that, here's our quick list of some of the best codes to use. Though if you want to know more about Rockstar's open world western, go check out our Red Dead Redemption 2 review. Though if you're looking for tips and other details to learn, check our essential guide for newcomers, and along with our round up of interesting details that the game doesn't tell you about.

Drunk On Command

By inputting the phrase "A fool on command" in the cheats menu, you'll unlock the Drunk option. This will instantly make Arthur intoxicated, resulting in him wobble about as he struggles to stand up straight. You'll even get an occasional odd comment from him as he wanders down the street or insolation while in the wilderness. While enabled, this will keep the main character perpetually drunk. But if you've had enough, you can deselect the option to return Arthur to his sober self--and all without the nasty hangover.

A Horse Ride Is Only A Whistle Away

As you're gradually building a bond with your new steed, you'll notice that whistling for your horse will only work within fairly short distances. If you don't have time to invest in building up your bond to increase the distance, you can input the code "Better than my dog" to get it to come to you at anytime, regardless of where you are on the map. This can be quite handy when you're traveling the great distances and you can't be bothered to backtrack to where you last left them.

That New Horse Smell

However, if you feel you deserve a stronger and more able-bodied stallion to help you cover great distances, the code "Run! Run! Run!" will do just the trick. After activating this code, you'll instantly spawn a prized race horse for Arthur to ride. As Red Dead Redemption 2 features a large variety of different horses, this particular mare is naturally adept at getting from A to B quickly.

No Caption Provided

A New, Rejuvenated You

After spending so much time traveling in the wilderness and getting into dangerous scrapes with many of the gangs roaming the land, you'll often find yourself in rough shape. If you need a pick-me-up fast, then enter the cheat "You flourish before you die" to fully restore Arthur's main cores. Once you're top shape, you'll be able to dive right back into your adventure in no time.

Guns, Lots Of Guns

When you're living life as a bandit, the difference between seeing another day and laying face-first in the dirt could down to what weapon you're holding in your hand. So if you want to upgrade your own hardware to even the odds, use the code "Greed is American Virtue" to unlock a new set of weapons for the traveling outlaw. Once activated you'll find the Pump-Action Shotgun, Mauser Pistol, Semi-Automatic Pistol, and Bolt-Action Rifle sitting in your inventory. To unlock this cheat for use, you'll need to finish the Advertising, the New American Art mission in Chapter 3, and then acquire a newspaper in the town of Rhodes.

All The Ammo You Need

Red Dead Redemption 2 prides itself on on offering semi-realistic world where survival is dependent on the resources you have. However, there may come a time where you wish that ammo was in more plentiful supply. If that ever happens, all you'll need to do is use the cheat "Abundance is the dullest desire" in the menu, which is unlocked after picking up the newspaper in Valentine during Chapter 2. Once activated, all ammo will come in unlimited supply, and you can keep firing off your weapons without worrying to count your bullets.

Smash Bros. Ultimate's Starting Roster Lineup Is A Nice Throwback

By Chris Pereira on Nov 02, 2018 06:55 pm

As part of the latest (and final) Nintendo Direct broadcast centered around Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo revealed the final members of the character roster, as well as the fact that even more will released as DLC. It also confirmed exactly who you'll be able to play as right out of the gate, and it hearkens back to the N64 days of the series.

While Ultimate boasts a huge roster with a total of 74-plus characters, the initial lineup is much smaller. As is appropriate for a mash-up like this, the characters you start with all hail from the original Super Smash Bros., consisting of nothing but classics like Mario, Samus, and Link. Here's who you'll start out with:

  • Mario
  • Donkey Kong
  • Link
  • Samus
  • Yoshi
  • Kirby
  • Fox
  • Pikachu
No Caption Provided

Alongside those eight, you'll of course have access to a randomized feature if you can't make up your mind. (If that's a problem, good luck once you have everyone unlocked.)

The Direct presentation filled out the roster with two more characters: Street Fighter's Ken and Pokemon's Incineroar. (Piranha Plant is also coming after launch, but only as a pre-order bonus, as are other DLC fighters.) The company also detailed a huge variety of other aspects of the game, including the ability to adjust handicaps for players (convenient if you're better or worse than a friend), a new Spirits system and mode, new Amiibo figures, and much more.

A new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Switch bundle launches on November 2, though the game itself releases on December 7. For more, check out our Ultimate pre-order guide.

Another Big Red Dead Redemption 2 Mystery Has Been Solved

By Matt Espineli on Nov 02, 2018 06:53 pm

It's shocking the amount of stuff you can find in Red Dead Redemption 2. Heck, the Stranger missions, Legendary animals, and camp side-activities were already enough as it is. But it seems another major discovery has been made, and it's not what you'd expect. UFOs were one thing, but this is another entirely.

To keep you from getting spoiled, we're going to be vague with the details of this discovery. It's really worth seeing it through the end so you can experience it yourself. The objective of this mission is quite simple: find five mysterious writings scattered across Saint Denis. Once you've found all those, you'll get a map that points you to an alleyway near the church in town. However, in order to trigger the event properly, you need to visit at night. If you really want to know what it is, hover your mouse over the text below:

You find five mysterious writings that inevitably lead you to finding an actual vampire. Seriously. A vampire!

Below we detail the locations of all five mysterious writings, as well as provide directions on how to get to the alleyway by the Saint Denis church. You can find the writings in any order, but for the sake of clarity, we've numbered them to make it easier to follow. Massive props to Luke Lawrie of steviror, who deserves all the credit for being able to discern these clues and find them all across town. With bizarre stuff like this, it seems there's no shortage of secrets tucked away in Red Dead Redemption 2, so if you've discovered something crazy, be sure to let us know about it in the comments below.

Clue 1

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
"I drink from the maiden and I live again in the dead. The heart of the king of blood."

The first clue is located on the building just above the second "N" in "Saint Denis" on the map. You'll see it written on the wall of a red building with white doors.

Clue 2

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
"I feed again. The blood of life. The circle has begun."

The second clue is near the Saint Denis market place where the local Fence and Trapper are. It's tucked away in an alleyway behind a gate where there are some neatly stacked barrels.

Clue 3

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
"Five bones under the perfect star. Nosferatu with Dominica will become mortal again."

The third clue is located by the Butcher and General Store on the southwestern side of town. It's on the other side of the shops, tucked away under an overhang.

Clue 4

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Oh sweetest of napes, may your blood remain forever on my lips. Six there will be before the lust is sated."

The fourth clue is found directly north of the post office, tucked away in a corridor. Look to the shot above to chart a path to its locations.

Clue 5

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
With one long kiss, I draw the life from her and await the outpost of advancing day."

The final clue is found on another wall of the building the previous clue was written on. Simply head up north to get to it, but you'll likely have to run around the building to reach it. This building complex is a bit of a labyrinth but stick with it and you'll find it eventually.

The Big Reveal

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2

As stated above, you'll get a map once you've gathered all the clues. It's a tad vague in the direction it's trying to point you, but it's ultimately trying to get you to go to a secluded alleyway to the west of the General Store and Butcher. However, the special event won't trigger until nighttime, so be sure to advance time at the local saloon. Once it's night, head to the alleyway and prepare yourself for a bizarre event that defies expectations.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Fence Location Guide: Where To Sell Stolen Items

By Peter Brown on Nov 02, 2018 06:45 pm

Fences--merchants, not boundary markers--in Red Dead Redemption 2 are the only businesses that will buy goods you've found while looting strangers and rifling through private property, and by gum, they sure are hard to find. Considering the size of RDR2's map, and that there are only four fences in all the land, odds are you may be wondering where they're hiding. We've got a handy reference guide to help locate the black-market traders that peddle in illicit goods.

Fair warning: you have to first complete Chapter 2's 'The Spines of America' mission before you can use any fence, and you won't be able to access either of the specialized fences--for horses or wagons--until you reach certain progress milestones in the game's main story.

Let's start off with the first location you're likely to find: Emerald Ranch

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Fence #1: Emerald Ranch (Unlocks after Chapter 2, Pouring Fourth Oil)

The first fence location you might stumble across during the natural trajectory of the story's early mission is located on the south-west edge of Emerald Ranch, on the backside of a massive barn. In additional to its usual services, this is also the only fence that will pay you for turning in stolen stagecoaches and carriages.

The same time that you unlock the standard fence at Emerald Ranch, you will also unlock the ability to trade in stolen carriages; simply ride them up to the barn doors to engage the wagon fence.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Fence #2: Van Horn Trading Post

On the far-east edge of New Hanover (practically due east of Emerald Ranch) lies Van Horn Trading Post. The fence at this location is tucked away within the rear of building along the docks.

Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Fence #3: Rhodes
Due south of Emerald Ranch lies Rhodes, a small town with a small trailer park to the north. There you will find a bright red trailer, and on the backside you'll find a counter and a window where the local fence awaits your business.
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Fence #4: Saint Denis
The far-off bustling streets of Saint Denis are where you'll find the most well-hidden fence of them all. Tucked under the busy market square, it's easy to spot if you keep an eye out for the brick archways, or the green building with bright green shudders. This is also the only fence that will purchase gold bars, valued at a whopping $500 a piece.
Gallery image 1Gallery image 2
Horse Fence, North Of Rhodes (Unlocks after Chapter 3, Horse Flesh For Dinner)

After completing the gruesomely titled mission mentioned above, you can speak to a pair of strangers northwest of Rhodes, along the waterside, to turn in stolen horses.
