Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Deal Drops It To $50 For Cyber Monday

By Steve Watts on Nov 27, 2018 12:20 am

Cyber Monday is turning out to be a good time to stock up on Nintendo Switch consoles and gear, and one of the most popular accessories has gotten its biggest discount yet. The Pro Controller, usually priced at $70, is just over fifty bucks for the retail holiday.

The price applies across both Amazon and Target. Both stores list the controller at $60, but apply an extra discount at checkout bringing it down to $51. The extra Target discount actually applies store-wide, as the store is offering an additional 15% off of everything with some exceptions. One such exception is to Xbox One hardware.

Cyber Monday has also brought good deals on hardware and games. GameStop is offering a Switch with a $50 gift card, while Best Buy is offering a $35 eShop card. Nintendo's eShop Cyber Monday sale is offering lots of discounts on digital purchases. And to make use of all those digital games, you may want to expand your system's memory with a cheap MicroSD card. You can check out our full list of Cyber Monday Nintendo Switch deals for more details.

Other notable deals include deep discounts on recent games like Hitman 2 and Fallout 76, as well as discounts across a wide range of games and movies. Read our Cyber Monday 2018 roundups for full details on all the deals you can snag.

Ralph Breaks The Internet Review: Never Read The Comments

By Michael Rougeau on Nov 27, 2018 12:20 am

With Thanksgiving weekend finally past us, you probably made it to the theater already to check out Ralph Breaks the Internet with the whole family. What did you think? Read our review, then let us know in the comments below.

The internet is a lot of things to many different people. It can be a way to keep up with friends, a professional workspace, a battleground, or a powerful tool for harassment. For Vanellope, the glitchy star of the arcade kart racer Sugar Rush, it represents unlimited possibilities, the potential for evolution and change--an escape from monotony. That same monotony is what keeps Wreck-it Ralph, the lovable bad guy of the game Fix-it Felix, on the path of goodness. And for him, the internet is a frightening frontier that draws his most villainous characteristics to the forefront.

In that respect, Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to 2012's Wreck-it Ralph, captures something real: The internet brings out the worst in some people. But that reality doesn't make for a particularly fun or lighthearted movie. Ralph Breaks the Internet is almost as funny as the original, and it's especially nice to catch up again with these characters and see what they're up to these days. But it's also kind of a drag.

Ralph Breaks the Internet follows Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) as they journey to the online world to buy a new part they hope will save Vanellope's game. You're mostly fine if you've never seen the original or it's been a while; returning characters like Felix (Jack McBrayer) and Calhoun (Jane Lynch) are sidelined and play unimportant roles, and all you really need to know is that this is basically Toy Story for video game characters. When the arcade closes for the night, the game characters go "off the clock," traveling around through power cords, meeting for root beers in the bar from arcade classic Tapper, and generally leading their own lives.

The movie does a good job establishing where Ralph and Vanellope are at in their lives: Ralph is happy to go to "work" every day as the villain of the game Fix-it Felix Jr., while Vanellope is growing bored of racing the same tracks over and over. Thus, you get the different ways they view the internet--and the movie's main conflict.

From a practical standpoint, the new setting is rich with both overt and subtle comedy. The internet is a teeming, endless metropolis in Wreck-it Ralph 2, and Disney Animation filled each frame with inside jokes, memes, and references to online culture. At the same time, the movie often reaches for low-hanging e-fruit, lazily plucking lame dad jokes, especially at Ralph's expense, like when he's trying to come up with relevant trends and the new character Yesss (Taraji P. Henson) reprimands him for suggesting something that was hot "15 seconds ago."

The whole world accessible at your fingertips? Ralph just doesn't get it. He's essentially your parents, which is fine, since plenty of moms and dads will see Ralph Breaks the Internet with their kids. If Reddit memes were the main source of comedy, half the audience would walk out scratching their heads. That said, there are some jokes that just don't land in the slightest, like an uncomfortable tribute to the mole gag from Austin Powers in which Ralph keeps slipping up and mentioning a character's physical deformity out loud. There's absolutely nothing funny about it, and there are similar examples throughout the movie.

No Caption Provided

Yesss is an algorithm, a digital being who runs the internet's largest trend site, BuzzTube. As a concept, she's fairly on the nose--she's so hyper-aware of every new trend that the other characters can barely keep up. That's what the plot demands, and Henson seems to have fun with the role. The other main new face, Shank (Gal Gadot), fits well in Ralph's universe: She's essentially this movie's Calhoun, albeit with a softer edge, despite hailing from the hyper-realistic online racing game Slaughter Race. The relationship she and Vanellope form is genuinely touching.

The part that feels most out of place is also the one that's received the most attention leading up to Ralph 2's release: the Disney Princesses scene that sends Vanellope on a surprisingly self-deprecating trip through Disney history. It's undeniably a well-executed, hilarious scene, brimming with impressive details like the fact that almost all the original voice actresses return. Sure, it's all a bit contrived, but it's also OK to simply enjoy Disney being so self-aware. Whether Cinderella would ever really smash her glass slipper into a shank and brandish it at a little girl is beside the point.

Ralph Breaks the Internet does manage to confront the internet's ugly side, which feels like the elephant in the room for any viewers who spend a significant amount of time online. We're all aware of the trolls, harassment, propaganda, and lies that assault every corner of the internet, and Ralph learns a hard lesson when he encounters the "comments room" after his videos go viral. Yesss's assertion that you just need to ignore the trolls isn't as wise as the movie seems to think it is--we should know by now that doesn't actually work--but at least it's something.

More troubling is the turn Ralph takes as a character. He's always been a bad guy; he spent most of the first movie trying to earn a "medal" just to prove that he wasn't, while ultimately accepting that being a bad guy doesn't mean he has to be a bad guy. If you enjoyed that character development, brace yourself for a backslide, as Ralph easily slips back into his old, selfish, villainous ways in this movie. What is the message here? That some people really are just villains? His arc seems designed as a warning to all the online bad guys of the real world, but the final act trades any subtlety for a huge action set piece, and the movie's central conflict takes a very strange turn. Ultimately, Ralph goes a little too bad, and it's resolved a little too easily, for the movie to feel satisfying.

Ralph Breaks the Internet is a funny, detailed look inside the online world that viewers of all ages should enjoy. Its take on internet culture is just not very nuanced, which doesn't come as a total surprise. After all, there's no pleasing everyone.

The GoodThe Bad
Internet humor for all agesRalph's negative character development
Nice to catch up with these charactersMisguided platitudes like "just ignore the trolls"
Self-aware Disney meta humorUnsatisfying climax and resolution
Cleverly brings the internet to lifeSome jokes don't land

$320 PS4 Pro Deal For Cyber Monday Available Now

By Jordan Ramée on Nov 27, 2018 12:15 am

Black Friday is now behind us, and Cyber Monday has unfortunately not brought with it much in the way of deals on PS4 Pro. There is, however, at least one sale to be had, which is all you really need. Google Express is offering 20% off certain items with the code CM18. That includes this listing for a PS4 Pro, dropping it down to $320. It's appeared out of stock at least once but has since come back, so if you can't get it immediately, try refreshing.

Update: Sure enough, we've now gotten a deal, though it may not last for much longer. Over on Ebay, a highly rated seller is offering a PS4 Pro with Spider-Man for $405, effectively tossing in the game for $5 over the price of the system itself. It may not be a discount on the hardware, but all things considered, it's a solid offer when taken into account considering how little else is out there. If you're only interested in the game, you can get Spider-Man for $40 right now. GameStop, the last of the big game retailers to release its ad, has now done so, and there's also no PS4 Pro listed there, making Ebay your best--and possibly only--option for the console. The original story follows.

Black Friday 2018 draws ever closer and multiple retailers--including Walmart, Best Buy, and Target--have already released the type of deals that people can expect during the holiday. Oddly enough, though stores have announced discounts for the PS4 Slim and PSVR, no Black Friday deals have been scheduled for the PS4 Pro.

This is especially puzzling in the wake of a year that has seen the release of popular PS4 exclusives like God of War and Marvel's Spider-Man--titles that support enhanced visuals and performance on the Pro. In 2017--another good year for PS4 exclusives like Horizon Zero Dawn, Persona 5, and Nier: Automata--several retailers had discounts for the Pro during Black Friday. So announcements for the Pro could pop up next week when we're closer to the holiday. For now, if you're hoping to buy a PS4 this Black Friday, you'll have to settle on the PS4 Slim + Marvel's Spider-Man bundle that's available at select retailers.

We've compiled all the current Black Friday 2018 PS4 console deals below. Prices vary from store to store, so plan accordingly when going out to shop this year. Also remember, retailers open and close for Black Friday at different times.

Creed 2 Review: A Worthy Rocky Sequel

By Michael Rougeau on Nov 27, 2018 12:13 am

With Thanksgiving weekend past, you probably watched Adonis Creed and Viktor Drago match gloves in Creed II. Check out our thoughts in the below review, and let us know what you thought about the epic match-up in the comments below.

From the opening scenes, you know exactly where Creed II is headed. Creed II is to the original Creed what Rocky II was to the movie that started it all: Adonis Creed starts out on top of the world, which means he has nowhere to go but down. He'll hit rock bottom, linger there for a while, then drag himself back up for a triumphant return. That's the basic outline of Creed II. It's intimately familiar, and it's so well executed that you won't mind the story's inevitability.

That isn't to say there are no surprises. The story of Michael B. Jordan's Adonis Creed, son of Apollo Creed, parallels that of his predecessors, but it's not a simple cut and paste. Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) has his own arc in this film, while Bianca (the incredibly talented Tessa Thompson) really comes into her own as a character. Maybe most surprising of all is the journey of Ivan Drago, returning villain from Rocky IV, played once again by the great Dolph Lundgren.

Like the original Creed, Creed II is about legacy. Adonis can't escape the past, and he has the extra burden of carrying Rocky's legacy in addition to his own father's. Back in 1985, in Rocky IV, Rocky defeated Ivan Drago after Drago killed Apollo Creed in the ring. Now Drago, disgraced for decades in his home country, returns with a son who's been training his whole life for this moment. They throw down the gauntlet in Philadelphia, and Adonis has no choice but to accept.

At least, that's how he sees it. But Creed II moves past the simple theme of legacy when Rocky asks Adonis, "Why do you need to fight this fight?" Why does Adonis accept that his father's and his mentor's problems are now his problems? What does he actually want?

As in the last movie, Jordan brings a huge amount of depth to the character. It wouldn't be a Rocky movie without some training montages, and Creed II has some really creative ones. More importantly, Jordan absolutely sells how hard the character pushes himself. And Adonis doesn't take defeat lightly. Rock bottom really looks grim for him, thanks to Jordan's vulnerable, emotional performance. And his physical condition is staggeringly impressive--the amount of training that must have gone into making his body look like this is hard to imagine.

No Caption Provided

As Adonis's partner Bianca, Thompson proves in Creed II that she can bring a unique presence to any role. As essentially a supporting character for Adonis, Bianca might have felt like a second stringer in another actress's hands, but Thompson steals the show more than once. As the viewer, you believe that Adonis would collapse without her support in their personal life. She's his foundation. And Stallone is still Stallone--capable of expressing a surprising amount of emotion for a guy whose face looks like that. He may actually have become a better actor in his advanced years.

And then there's Lundgren. Like Rocky, Ivan Drago is well past his fighting years--although unlike Rocky, Drago still cuts a physically intimidating figure. His son Viktor (Florian Munteanu) is a monster of a man who spends most of the movie yelling and throwing punches that look like they could break through a brick wall. But the elder Drago is such an impressive presence--especially next to the clearly exhausted Stallone--that you feel genuinely scared for Rocky during an early confrontation when it seems like the two old rivals might come to blows.

No Caption Provided

Creed II accomplishes something incredible when it humanizes Drago. Yes, he's still the bad guy of the story, but he's not a villain. He's an ex-boxer who's essentially been in exile; disgraced at home, abandoned by family and country. Drago's path, much like Adonis's, was inevitable. And Creed II spends enough time with Ivan and Viktor that you truly start to feel for them. Training montages flip back and forth between Adonis's cushy apartment, beautiful girlfriend, and fancy gyms, and Ivan and Viktor's dingy home, ratty facilities, and generally lonely life. Both sets of characters are just doing what they have to do to improve their lot.

Creed II's fights, the main event, are breathtakingly personal. Adonis and Viktor make every punch look and feel real. The camera often stays uncomfortably close, making excellent use of a first person perspective to make you feel like you're literally in the fight, taking those hits along with the characters. The blood, sweat, and tears feel so immediate that you'll forget about caring whether you think you know what the outcome is going to be. Jordan and Thompson invest so much emotion that you can't help but feel along with them.

No Caption Provided

Creed II comes with a different director--Steven Caple Jr. replaces Ryan Coogler--but it nearly matches the original Creed in quality. It's Rocky sequel comfort food: exactly what you want, executed with amazing finesse. The only question left is where the series will go from here, as Adonis Creed now has his own legacy to maintain.

Best Cyber Monday 2018 Deals: Nintendo Switch, Red Dead 2, PS4, Xbox One, Games, Movies, TVs, And More

By Chris Reed on Nov 26, 2018 11:56 pm

Cyber Monday has officially begun and we've got a look at the discounts you can pick up on what is the final big shopping day of this holiday period. To start with, there's a 15% offer at Target, and Best Buy is offering some decent deals too. We've updated the full list below with everything so far.

Why would we talk about Cyber Monday 2018 when Black Friday is still ongoing this weekend? Because these two major shopping days occur very close to one another. Many deal hunters will still be recovering from a Black Friday savings hangover by the time Cyber Monday arrives on November 26. If that's you, you'd better pop some Tylenol and hop online, because Cyber Monday deals will be coming in hot.

As for specific Cyber Monday deals, little is known at the moment, though we have gotten a few hints as to what offers will be available. For instance, Ebay is doing a "Cyber Weekend" sale, with deals on things like a Microsoft Surface Pro and a 65" 4K smart TV starting on Saturday, November 24. Additional deals will kick off on Monday, Novmeber 26, including on a Fallout 76 Xbox One X bundle, though the price has yet to be announced. You can find additional information in our Cyber Monday preview of the deals we already know about.

Seeing as retailers will be dropping prices on an array of products on and around Cyber Monday, it can be hard to know if you're getting the best deal possible on any given item. Below, you'll find links that will help you sort through the sales to find the biggest discounts available. We'll continue adding more links as new sales are announced, making this the go-to page for your Cyber Monday needs.

Stores

Target

Target still has many games and movies on sale, but the highlight of its Cyber Monday sale is a 15% offer sitewide. It does have some significant exclusions, but it still lets you make your own deals. This even extends to cover pre-orders of PS4 and Xbox One games like Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Just Cause 4

Best Buy

Best Buy offered early access to its Cyber Monday sale on Sunday, but now everyone has access to the full promotion. It includes a ton of games and movies, with many of the same prices as Black Friday, but not everything is the same.

GameStop

GameStop has followed up its nice Black Friday offering with even more deals for Cyber Monday, which include some terrific offers. That includes $30 for Hitman 2, which we didn't see discounted at all last week.

PlayStation Network

Sony's digital PS4 game store has already dropped prices for Black Friday, and they'll run straight on through Cyber Monday.

Xbox Live

Similarly, Microsoft is already offering discounts on hundreds of digital Xbox One games, with sale prices that will run through November 26.

Steam

Steam's Autumn sale continues until Tuesday, giving you only a short while longer to get cheap PC games on everything from Dead Cells to Dark Souls III.

Ebay Deals

You'll find deals on video games and electronics in Ebay's "Cyber Weekend sale."

Platforms

Nintendo Switch

You'll find a lot of Nintendo Switch deals right now, both on hardware (including some console bundles that effectively let you choose what game or games you get for free), games, and controllers. MicroSDXC cards are also on sale, which should come in handy considering the Eshop game sale is ongoing.

Games

Red Dead Redemption 2

Cyber Monday has brought fewer deals on Fallout 76 than we got last week, but there are still some discounts to be had. That includes on the Ultimate Edition, which is suddenly more tempting because it gets you into Red Dead Online early.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Like Red Dead 2, Black Ops 4 isn't seeing as many steep discounts for Cyber Monday, but there are still offers out there--including just $38 for the PS4 and Xbox One versions, which is within a dollar of the best price we've seen.

Fallout 76

Despite its recent release, we continue to see Fallout 76 heavily discounted. Cyber Monday has brought the best prices yet on Bethesda's new online RPG.

Hitman 2

Another recent release seeing a discount already is Hitman 2. Unlike Fallout 76, it wasn't discounted for Black Friday, but you now have the opportunity to get it for half price--$30.

Tips and Previews

Deals We Already Know About

Here's everything we know so far about what sales will be live on Cyber Monday.

What to Expect

To help prepare you for the craziness of Cyber Monday, we've looked at what happened last year to help set expectations for this year's online shopping day.

Wreck-It Ralph 2: So What Was Felix's Parenting Advice, Really?

By Meg Downey on Nov 26, 2018 11:53 pm

Adorable do-gooder Fix-It Felix was one of the main protagonists in the original Wreck-It Ralph, where he not only found love, but learned to question his role as the hero of his own game, too. But things have changed a bit in the six years between the original Wreck-It Ralph and Ralph Breaks The Internet--Felix is still fixing things, to be sure, but he's not quite as eager to prove himself as he used to be.

There are spoilers for Wreck-it Ralph 2 below, so be warned!

While Felix takes things (relatively) easy this time around, Ralph and Vanellope head to the internet to try and save Vanellope's home, Sugar Rush, from certain destruction. In the process, Ralph sets off a chain of events that threatens to bring the web to its proverbial knees. As a series, Wreck-It Ralph has always been heavy-handed with the references--the original was jam packed with famous video game characters like Pac-Man and Zangief. Ralph Breaks The Internet ups the ante by taking the guard rails off.

In our review, we highlighted the movie's willingness to play in the Disney canon in unexpected ways--even when those moments didn't exactly jive with the rest of the film's digital backdrop. Take Vanellope's team-up with a whole entourage of Disney Princesses, which we wrote "sends Vanellope on a surprisingly self-deprecating trip through Disney history. It's undeniably a well-executed, hilarious scene, brimming with impressive details like the fact that almost all the original voice actresses return. Sure, it's all a bit contrived, but it's also OK to simply enjoy Disney being so self-aware. Whether Cinderella would ever really smash her glass slipper into a shank and brandish it at a little girl is beside the point."

But while Vanellope is cozying up to her predecessors and Ralph is breaking the internet, Fix-it Felix and Calhoun remain stuck in Litwack's arcade, raising a small army of adorable but obnoxious kart-racing characters. What exactly did Felix get up to the whole time? How did he raise those racers by the end? What did Felix and Calhoun really say about parenting in that final scene?

We sat down with voice actor Jack McBrayer--most famous for his role as the immortal Kenneth Parcell on 30 Rock--to get the inside scoop. When you're done here, check out why Ralph Breaks the Internet doesn't want to demonize violent video games, how the filmmakers built the movie's living internet city, and how the sequel portrays the internet's dark side.

GameSpot: So, Felix is not in this movie as much, you know, compared to the first one.

Jack McBrayer: He's taking a little vacation.

Was there anything on the table for your character and for Calhoun (Jane Lynch) that didn't make it into the movie, or something that you recorded that you wanted to keep and didn't make the cut?

No, I mean, the storyline pretty much was what it was--I honestly don't even remember. Because we did the table read for this one in December of 2015 and the story was vastly different from what it is now. But that was also the case with the first one, so that wasn't really a surprise this time around. It's just been fun to see how the script has evolved since.

Was there any room for improv for you and Jane Lynch here?

They do encourage to do it a few times, as scripted, but then they just let you cut loose. And it's fun, because Jane Lynch has a similar background, she did comedy for years and years. And coincidentally, me and Jane Lynch, and John C. Reilly, were all in Talladega Nights together, in 2005. That was another project where improv was encouraged.

And she's just liquid funny. And so even just reading the lines you're like, trying not to laugh, to ruin a take, but then when you're just able to improvise it's so silly. Especially knowing how different these characters are. You know, this tiny little munchkin and this glamazon, to be able to play around with that

So another element of the movie is you and Calhoun have adopted 15 children.

As one does.

There's a bit at the end where you actually get to give some fake parenting advice. Was that dialogue actually recorded and then taken out?

There was actual dialogue recorded, but I do have to admit--some of it was nonsense, because, at that point, we just had to match what the character's mouths were doing.

In one version of the script, Felix is very overly confident about being a parent. He's so used to being a helper. "Here's a problem, I can fix it!" kind of thing. So I think in a very general sense, he's like, "oh, well, parenting, yes, this is an obstacle, but we can do it."

If you had to put Felix in a different video game, what would you put him in?

Oh boy. You know, I'm gonna go easy on the kid, because, he's not built for those [scary games].

Maybe Minecraft?

That might be it. That's seems very blocky and buildy...At the most extreme I'd put him in Sugar Rush or a racing game. Not the scary ones.

So no hanging out with Gal Gadot's character Shank?

No. I mean, god no. Bless her heart. It'd especially be a fun dinner date, but she don't want to go racing with that. It's too much. That's too much. Leave Felix alone. We have to protect him.

Thanks Jack!

Last Chance To Complete Destiny 2's Exotic Thunderlord Quest -- Here's How

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 26, 2018 11:49 pm

After a three-week quest that started with Destiny 2's Festival of the Lost, Guardians finally managed to solve the mystery of who killed Master Ives. The quest included revisiting the Cosmodrome from the original Destiny and a pretty great prize: Thunderlord, a lightning-slinging machine gun.

If you haven't completed the multi-part Exotic quest to grab Thunderlord, you absolutely should--it's about to disappear. November 27 marks the end of Season 4 in Destiny 2, and when that happens, the Thunderlord quest will cease to exist. With it goes a very easy path to a great Exotic heavy weapon, and your chance to return to the Cosmodrome one last time.

Thunderlord will still be available in Season 5--which Bungie has dubbed the Season of the Forge to go with its first annual pass content drop, The Black Forge--but it'll be tougher to come by. Bungie is adding Thunderlord to the Exotic Engram pool, meaning the only way to find it after November 27 is in random drops that occur in the world, and that'll make it very rare. A recent update from Bungie has made Destiny 2 more likely to give you Exotics you don't already have in those random drops, which means you might come by Thundelord eventually, but hoping for Exotic Engrams is still the worse way to find the gun by far.

To start the Thunderlord quest and hunt down the killer of Master Ives, the Cryptarch from Destiny's Reef area, head to Amanda Holliday in the Tower. She'll give you Master Ives' journal, which requires players to search for the missing pages from Ives' diary out in the world. Here's how to solve the mystery and get Thunderlord.

Step 1: The Crytarch's Journal

Clearing that first step is actually pretty easy to accomplish. There are 10 pages to acquire, and players can get them either by finding Legendary engrams in various activities--including Gambit, the Crucible, Strikes, and everything else you already do in Destiny 2--or from killing tougher Fallen enemies in the EDZ on Earth.

Actually snagging all the pages is an easy feat to knock out if you head to the EDZ. You're looking for Fallen with orange-colored health bars, which are otherwise known as Elite bad guys. You need the orange enemies in particular; you won't get pages from Majors, who have yellow health bars, like the ones designated as high-value targets, for instance.

No Caption Provided

The quickest way to find Elite Fallen to kill in the EDZ is to find a public event and join it. The Glimmer Mining event that takes place in various places in the EDZ is a solid bet, especially if you knock it up to its Heroic level. You won't get a page for every Elite you kill, but the drop rate is pretty high--one or two public events should do it.

If you don't feel like messing around on Earth, you can also spend some shards at the Cryptarch in the Tower to quickly gather up the Legendary engrams you need to complete the step. That method will cost you 250 Legendary shards if you buy 10 engrams to get all 10 pages. Given how easy it is to get the pages in the EDZ or by earning Legendaries organically, though, you probably don't need to waste the shards.

Step 2: Hunting The Fallen

The second step is almost as quick and easy as the first. It returns you to the EDZ, this time to complete four Lost Sectors. You'll start with a batch of three that need cleaning out: Atrium, Widow's Walk, and Terminus East. If you're not familiar with the names, those are the three Lost Sectors located in the Trostland area of the EDZ.

No Caption Provided

You'll find Atrium in the church where Devrim Kay hangs out, Widow's Walk in the northwest corner of the area, and Terminus East in the northeast corner. Once you've wrecked the Major enemies in all three, you'll get a new step that directs you to yet another Lost Sector, called Whispered Falls.

No Caption Provided

Jump on your Sparrow and drive west to the Outskirts area, and look for the Lost Sector up in the hills in the west end of the area. It's north of the narrower portion of the map you drive through to access Winding Cove.

Kill the Major in Whispered Falls and you'll need to wait for Amanda Holliday to summon you back to the Tower. She'll eventually give you new coordinates, which will send you to the third and final stage of the quest.

Step 3: Return To The Cosmodrome

No Caption Provided

Your final step for the mission unlocks when you're prompted to return to Amanda Holliday. She'll identify a strange teleporter in Earth's European Dead Zone you should go check out--it's actually a Mission that starts you on the final step of the quest. To get there, warp into the Winding Cove location in the EDZ, then ride east toward the Outskirts. You'll find the mission start in the northern part of the canyon in the Whispered Falls Lost Sector. Fight your way inside to reach the teleporter.

Starting the mission warps you back to the Cosmodrome, the place where Destiny players first started way back in the beginning of the original game. You're basically following the path of the very first Destiny mission, fighting through Fallen into the Wall around the Cosmodrome. Keep following the mission markers until you get inside, where you'll face a big battle with a Fallen Captain called Kikliss, Murderer, and a huge batch of minion enemies.

No Caption Provided

This is the toughest fight of the mission by far, so bring your best guns and try to keep moving. Smaller Fallen enemies will continually spawn into the battle, so Supers that take out lots of enemies at once or are good for crowd control will help. Once you damage Kikliss enough, a giant Servitor will join the fight, which makes it even more annoying. Try to keep space between you and Kikliss while you focus your fire on the Servitor, since it can make other enemies invincible--including the boss.

Killing the Servitor should make it a little easier to take down Kikliss, which is your main objective for the mission. Once you do, you'll be prompted to fight your way back out the Cosmodrome. Back outside, you'll get a message from Amanda Holliday suggesting that this could be your last time back in the Cosmodrome, and you'll see an objective prompt reading, "Leave The Cosmodrome?" It seems Destiny 2 is suggesting there might be more secrets to find hidden in Russia, so take your time in leaving to look around. We haven't found whatever secret the game is hinting at just yet, but we'll update this guide when we do.

No Caption Provided

If you approach the teleporter near where you started, you'll be sent back to orbit and prompted to return to Holliday in the Tower. When you do, she'll wonder about what the Fallen who killed Master Ives were really after, but she'll also thank you for avenging his death. Your final reward is a "trinket" she found in his stuff, which is none other than the sparking machine gun Thunderlord. The Exotic goes in your Heavy weapon slot, and carries the "Reign Havoc" perk, which causes lightning strikes from the sky as you rack up kills with bullets.

Though Black Friday 2018 is no behind us, there's still many more deals to take advantage of for Cyber Monday. Previously, we reported on retailer Target offering special deals for Cyber Monday, allowing anyone to purchase a set of accessories and current releases for a blanket discount of 15% off. Xbox One Game Sale: Cyber Monday / Black Friday Xbox Live Game Deals

By Chris Reed on Nov 26, 2018 11:36 pm

Black Friday is now behind us, but Cyber Monday is now here in its place. The Xbox Store's sale is unchanged, offering the same Xbox One games at discounted prices for a few more days, running until November 30. While the lineup may be the same, you may suddenly have newfound interest in Red Dead Redemption 2's Ultimate Edition, which is on sale. We've just learned that buying that will get you into the Red Dead Online beta sooner.

Black Friday has arrived, which as all of you know is one of the biggest shopping events of the year. In line with how retailers are operating these days, some deals are going live early, but if you're interested in digital games, there's no need to wait any longer: Microsoft has kicked off its annual Xbox Live sale, dropping prices on hundreds of digital Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles. The sale was initially available only to Xbox Live Gold members, but the sale has since expanded to everyone. But be wary, some prices are lower for Gold members.

Many of this year's biggest heavy hitters include Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $48, Red Dead Redemption 2: Special Edition for $72, and Forza Horizon 4 for $39. But if those don't quite do it for you, you can pick up Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection for $36, or Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Far Cry 5 for $30 apiece. Those are excellent prices considering how a lot of those games just came out.

Ubisoft has dropped prices on the many Assassin's Creed games, with Odyssey down to $40 and Origins on sale for $20. A trio of Tom Clancy games is available for cheap as well; The Division is discounted to $10 and Ghost Recon Wildlands and Rainbow Six Siege are available for $15 each.

Not to be outdone, some of the best backward-compatible Xbox 360 games are also on sale. You can pick up Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for $5, Red Dead Redemption for $10, or a couple of Splinter Cell games for $10 or less. And if you're into Metal Gear, you can nab some great discounts on the series, including Metal Gear Solid HD Edition, which contains remastered versions of games 2 and 3, for $10.

You'll find well over a hundred other discounted games in the list below, or you can see the full sale here.

If you don't have a current Xbox Live Gold subscription, you can get a one-month membership between now and November 30 for just $1 / £1. That grants you early access to the sale and also gets you this month's free Games with Gold. Additionally, between now and January 3, 2019, you can get a month's worth of Xbox Game Pass for $1 / £1. This subscription service lets you download and play a selection of over 100 games, including all recent first-party titles like Forza Horizon 4 and Sea of Thieves.

Cyber Monday 2018: Every Red Dead Redemption 2 Deal (PS4, Xbox One)

By Chris Reed on Nov 26, 2018 11:34 pm

Cyber Monday 2018, the day that promises to be the biggest online shopping day of the year, has arrived. As always, it has brought with it a whole heap of deals on video games of all kinds. If you're on the lookout to save money on Red Dead Redemption 2, you've come to the right place. We've gathered all the most rootin', tootin' deals available today (November 26) on the biggest cowboy game available now on PS4 and Xbox One. Read on for the goods.

While we saw some RDR 2 deals pop up here and there on Black Friday, things have calmed down considerably by Cyber Monday. Most retailers have gone back to selling the standard edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 for its regular retail price of $60. But that doesn't mean there are no discounts to be had on the game.

In terms of the standard edition, Xbox One owners can pick it up for $56 from Amazon. That's not a big discount, but it's the only one there is at the moment. If you're interested in the Special or Ultimate editions of the game, you can save some additional cash. The Special edition comes with a physical world map, plus a bonus bank robbery mission and some in-game items like weapons and outfits; you can get a digital PS4 version for $72 (regularly $80).

The Ultimate edition comes with all of that, plus access to the Red Dead Online beta tomorrow (November 27), as well as additional content usable in Red Dead Online. It normally costs $100, but you can get it for $90 on PS4 and Xbox One.

And anyone looking to upgrade to a PS4 Pro can get a bundle containing Red Dead Redemption 2 for its usual price of $400. However, if you buy it at GameStop today, they'll throw in a $50 GameStop gift card.

While none of those deals really blows the roof off, they're all the Red Dead Redemption 2 discounts you'll find on Cyber Monday 2018. We'll add any new deals to the list below if and when they appear. In the meantime, you can read or watch our Red Dead Redemption 2 review and check out these RDR2 tips you need to know.

Red Dead Online Beta Start Dates / Times, Ultimate Edition Early Access Confirmed

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 26, 2018 11:30 pm

Rockstar has finally delivered details on Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode, revealing when it's going to kick off. Shortly after launch, publisher Take-Two confirmed Red Dead Redemption 2 had shipped 17 million copies, which means there's going to be a fair few people interested in taking their outlaw antics online into a multiplayer environment. To ensure Red Dead Online's servers don't completely buckle under the weight of the entire community, access to the beta is being given to gradually.

When you're able to play the beta depends on the version of the game you have or when you actually started playing the game. The first group of people that will be able to play the game are those that purchased the Ultimate Edition. Anyone who has that version will be able to jump into the beta from November 27 at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PST / 1:30 PM GMT / 12:30 AM AEDT (November 28).

The next group of people to be given access is anyone who played the game on October 26 (that's Red Dead Redemption 2's launch day). If you're one of those people, you can head online on November 28. If you played the game between October 26 and October 29--according to Rockstar's data--you'll be able to join the fun from November 29.

Finally, public access to Red Dead Online will be available to anyone that owns Red Dead Redemption 2 from November 30. This rollout method will help Rockstar "ease into the beta and to mitigate major issues." The studio is being very candid about potential performance issues, saying that the beta is "the first step in what will be a continually expanding and dynamic world."

As such, Rockstar is expecting the "inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale" and it is asking the Red Dead Redemption 2 community to report any issues and share their feedback so that Rockstar can shape the experience with them in mind. You can find out more about Red Dead Online here.

Red Dead Online Start Dates And Times

  • Tuesday, November 27: All Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition owners from November 27 at 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PST / 1:30 PM GMT / 12:30 AM AEDT (November 28)
  • Wednesday, November 28: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 on October 26th according to Rockstar's data
  • Thursday, November 29: All players who played Red Dead Redemption 2 between October 26th to October 29th according to our data
  • Friday, November 30: All players who own Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2 earned a 9/10 in GameSpot's review, with Kallie Plagge saying it "is an excellent prequel, but it's also an emotional, thought-provoking story in its own right, and it's a world that is hard to leave when it's done."

"While Red Dead Redemption was mostly focused on John Marston's story, Red Dead 2 is about the entire Van der Linde gang--as a community, as an idea, and as the death rattle of the Wild West. It is about Arthur, too, but as the lens through which you view the gang, his very personal, very messy story supports a larger tale." Read our full Red Dead Redemption 2 review for a more in-depth analysis of the game.

By Chris Reed on Nov 26, 2018 11:27 pm

If you're suddenly hunting for the Ultimate Edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 now that we know it'll get you into the Red Dead Online beta sooner, you've come to the right place. Below you'll find all the details on the various editions of the game. For more, read about when Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode launches.

After years of steadily building anticipation, Red Dead Redemption 2 has finally arrived on PS4 and Xbox One. And by most accounts, the finished game actually lives up to the titanic levels of hype that had accumulated in the years since the original. You can read our Red Dead Redemption 2 review to find out the particulars of why this game is all but guaranteed to be one of the biggest titles of the year.

It stars Arthur Morgan, a high-level scoundrel in the Dutch van der Linde gang--whose members include John Marston, the star of RDR--as they make their way across the American West in 1899. Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons: $60 For Cyber Monday

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 26, 2018 11:25 pm

Black Friday might have come and gone, but the deals aren't over just yet, thanks to Cyber Monday. There are still some great opportunities to save money on gaming stuff, especially if you're in the market for spare controllers for your Nintendo Switch. Nintendo charges a whopping $80 for a set of its Joy-Con controllers, but for Cyber Monday, you can knock a good chunk off that price.

Target is offering most varieties of Joy-Cons at a 13% price reduction right now, bringing down the cost from $80 to $70. The retailer is also offering a store-wide cut of 15% off everything, only for Cyber Monday. That brings the price down to $59.49 before taxes, and Target will ship you your Joy-Cons for free.

Note that to see the full discount from the 15% reduction, you'll have to go to the checkout screen with the Joy-Cons in your shopping cart. There are also Joy-Con varieties, like the set of two blue controllers, that don't have the 13% discount and so come only get the Cyber Monday 15% off--keep an eye on the price in the cart to make sure you're getting the best deal you can.

Given how expensive Joy-Cons are in general, this is a solid chance to grab spare controllers to facilitate some multiplayer mayhem in Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Party, and the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Take advantage of Cyber Monday and dig into more Nintendo Switch deals on games and other gear, including the much-loved Pro Controller for $50. And be sure to check out all our roundups of other Cyber Monday deals for more major discounts.

Nintendo Switch Gets The Worst (Or Best?) Deal For Cyber Monday

By Steve Watts on Nov 26, 2018 11:20 pm

Cyber Monday is upon us, bringing all sorts of great deals on consoles, games, and accessories. You can even snag a few different deals on a brand new Nintendo Switch. But not all deals are created equal, and one in particular is so off-the-wall it warrants attention.

Helzberg Diamonds, the jewelry retailer, is offering a free Nintendo Switch console with the purchase of $1,199 or more. Just make sure to use the promotional code "Nintendo" at checkout. The deal isn't terrible if you were in the market for jewelry anyway, but it's a pretty circuitous route to a new game system. Helzberg is also offering similar Cyber Monday deals that offer a Vizio TV or Google Home with purchases at different amounts.

If you'd like a Nintendo Switch for a bit cheaper--and without the diamonds--you have plenty of options. GameStop is selling the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle and throwing in a $50 GameStop gift card. Best Buy and Amazon are both offering it with a $35 eShop card.

Plus Nintendo's digital Eshop itself is having a Cyber Monday sale, and you can also snag a good deal on a Pro Controller and MicroSD cards to round out your system purchase. Check out all of our Cyber Monday roundups for more deals on games, consoles, accessories, movies, and more.

PS4 Game Deals On Spider-Man, AC Odyssey In Cyber Monday/Black Friday 2018 PSN Sale

By Chris Reed on Nov 26, 2018 11:17 pm

Cyber Monday is officially here, now that Black Friday is over. That means we have new deals at GameStop, among other places, but on PSN, the PlayStation Store's existing sale continues for a short while longer. While not all of these prices are as strong as those at physical retailers, it doesn't get much easier than downloading a digital game. The PSN sale ends on Tuesday morning (US time), so act fast if you're interested in things like Spider-Man for $40.

Black Friday itself is now in the rear view mirror, but the deals are continuing into the weekend in many cases. One sale that's continuing is Sony's PS4 game sale on PSN, as the PlayStation Store has lots on sale. You might find better discounts on physical copies--see our Black Friday PS4 coverage to see if you can get a better price--but this is a good option if digital is your preference so you never have to swap discs. Below we've rounded up all the PS4 games on sale, or if you don't want to go through it all, we've recommended our picks for the best PS4 PSN sale deals. The list below has expanded slightly since it was first published, as Sony had a delayed addition: Spider-Man is now going for $40.

First off, a couple of key the PlayStation services have gotten temporary price cuts. A 12-month PlayStation Plus subscription, which lets you take your console online and also gets you free games each month, is on sale for $40 right now. Also, a year's subscription to PlayStation Now, a service that lets you download or stream over 650 games, is on sale for $80.

Some big recent games have gotten nice discounts, including Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 for $48. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is on sale for $40, and last year's installment, Assassin's Creed Origins, is down to $24. While the standard edition of Red Dead Redemption 2 remains at full price, you can get the Special Edition on sale for $70 or the Ultimate Edition for $90 if you want some extra in-game items.

A number of PS4 exclusives got the discount treatment as well. You can get God of War and Detroit: Become Human for just $22 each, Persona 5 for $20, and Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition for $15.

Anyone with a PlayStation VR headset (or anyone who's planning to pick one up at a Black Friday sale price) can grab the online team shooter Firewall: Zero Hour for $30, the surreal puzzle adventure Torn for $21, or the boxing game Creed: Rise To Glory for $15.

You'll find a lot more games on sale below, or you can check out the full list, which includes DLC, virtual currency, and special editions, here. The sale runs between now and November 27 at 8 AM PT (11 AM ET).

Steam's Game Sale For Cyber Monday/Black Friday 2018, The Autumn Sale, Is Almost Over

By Steve Watts on Nov 26, 2018 11:11 pm

It's now Cyber Monday, making this your last chance to take advantage of the Steam Autumn sale. While today has brought with it new sales at places like GameStop, Steam's sale remains unchanged; you can get the same deals as last week, but you have to act by Tuesday morning (US time) if you're interested.

Black Friday itself has now passed, but that doesn't mean your chance to get some cheap games has ended. Valve has already kicked off its Steam sale to cover both Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and that will be continuing for the next few days. Those who want cheap PC games will find it's hard to beat the annual Steam sale, which is ongoing. We've got a roundup of the best Steam game deals to help you sort through everything, and you can see some highlights below.

The Steam Autumn Sale lasts through November 27 at 10 AM PT. The sale prices have gone live, offering good deals on NBA 2K19 ($30), Civilization 6 ($18) and its Rise and Fall downloadable content ($20), Dead Cells ($20), and more. Steam is also offering discounts on some of its own hardware, like 30% off a Steam Controller, or the discontinued and nearly-depleted Steam Link for $2.50. Check below for highlights of some of the best deals. Keep in mind that in some cases you may be better off shopping at other PC specialists like Fanatical, which give Steam codes.

The storefront has also opened its nominees for the Steam Awards. You can vote for your Game of the Year and VR Game of the Year, along with more esoteric categories. The Labor of Love Award gives accolades for continued support of an older game, while the Better With Friends Award celebrates multiplayer experiences. The Best Alternate History Award even awards games that have created their own unique twist on the past. Participating in the awards can earn you XP and badges.

Given that Black Friday is a retail holiday, there are a lot more sales at brick-and-mortar stores as well as online retailers offering physical goods. Console digital storefronts are offering their own sales as well, though, along with Steam competitors. Check out our full roundup of Black Friday deals to plan even more of your shopping.

Make Your Own Cyber Monday Deals On Switch Controllers, PS4/Xbox One Games, Movies At Target

By Chris Pereira on Nov 26, 2018 11:07 pm

With Black Friday in the rear view mirror, Cyber Monday is now upon us, which in some cases means a whole new slate of deals at certain retailers. Target's approach once again is to offer a blanket discount that you can apply to most anything you want. This does have some notable exclusions, including PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch consoles, but it is still an opportunity to make a deal of your own--including on things that you weren't able to find for cheap on Black Friday.

Right now on its website, Target is offering 15% off much of its catalog, even including things that are already on sale. As noted above, not everything is included: This can't be applied to the aforementioned consoles, Red Dead Redemption II, or Nintendo Switch games. Luckily, there are plenty of other Switch Cyber Monday deals to be had.

But that still leaves a wide range of possibilities; although it excludes PS4, Xbox One, and Switch hardware, it does include accessories. That means you can get a Switch Pro Controller for $51, Switch Joy-Cons for $59.49, PS4 controllers for $34, Xbox One controllers for $34, the Xbox One Elite controller for $127.50, and more. Headsets, like Xbox One's Turtle Beach Stealth 300, can be had for $38.25, while PS4's Gold wireless headset is $85 (including the 500 Million limited edition version).

In terms of individual games, this again stacks on top of current discounts. NBA 2K19 is still marked down to $30, and with the 15% off, it drops to $25.50 (PS4/Xbox One). If you missed out on the superior Black Friday pricing, you can still get the full-priced Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (PS4/Xbox One) or Spider-Man down to $51. Grand Theft Auto V (PS4/Xbox One) is $17, Spyro Reignited Trilogy (PS4/Xbox One) is $34, and Dragon Quest XI on PS4 is $30. Pre-orders even seem to be included, letting you get the upcoming Just Cause 4 (PS4/Xbox One) for $51.

This offer is available sitewide; you can get movies and numerous other things for 15%. You can see the full details here, or a list of all video game products here; those that are eligible for the 15% off will state as much both in the full list and on the individual product page. You can bring prices down a 5% further with the standard discount offered by using a Target Red Card.

Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and check out our Cyber Monday deals roundup for all the things to keep an eye out for.

Hellboy Reboot: First Image From Movie Revealed

By Dan Auty on Nov 26, 2018 11:06 pm

Production on the upcoming Hellboy reboot movie finished nearly a year ago, and we still won't see the movie until April 2019. But following the poster that was revealed last month, the first still from the film has now been released.

The image comes via Empire. It shows Stranger Things star David Harbour as Hellboy, running down a dark corridor. As the first promotional image of Harbour in costume showed, this Hellboy is a bulkier, more imposing demon than the one played by Ron Perlman in Guillermo Del Toro's movies. Check it out below.

No Caption Provided

Hellboy hits theaters on April 12 next year, having moved back from its original release of January 11. It also stars Milla Jovovich as the Blood Queen, Ian McShane as Professor Broom, and Daniel Dae Kim as Ben Daimo. It's directed by Neil Marshall, who is best known for his work on Game of Thrones and the recent Netflix show Lost in Space, plus movies like Doomsday and The Descent.

Empire also interviewed Marshall, who explained that the film would be a darker take on Mike Mignola's comic books than Del Toro's movies. "It was always a case of, 'When in doubt, go back to the source material.' Some of the stuff is pretty sick," he said. "More violent and more bloody. We weren't making it with handcuffs on."

The first teaser for the movie is yet to be officially released, but it was screened for fans at New York Comic-Con last month. GameSpot was at the trailer's premiere, so check out what we thought here.

Best Black Ops 4 Cyber Monday Deals: PS4, Xbox One, PC Game Discounts

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 26, 2018 10:49 pm

We're reaching the end of the Thanksgiving period, which means time is quickly running out for you to get yourself a good discount on games. Black Friday is already gone, but if you weren't able to make the most of the deals on that day you've got one more shot thanks to Cyber Monday. One of the hot properties over the last few days has been Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, and if you're looking to pick up the game you've got a few options.

One of the better prices we've seen for the game is at GameStop, which has the latest entry in the blockbuster shooter series for $38 on PS4 and Xbox One (PC is out of stock).

Best Buy, meanwhile, has the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions priced at $45. These are physical versions of the game, but a digital code for the PS4 version is also available at the same price. If you head to Walmart, you can get Black Ops 4 for $39 on PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to get the game without leaving the comfort of your home, Sony's PlayStation Store has it for $48, while Microsoft's store has it for $54, or $48 if you're an Xbox Live Gold subscriber.

Blizzard's Battle.net platform, which hosts other Activision-published games such as Destiny 2 and Black Ops 4, has the game for $48, with the Deluxe Edition going for $90 and the Deluxe Enhanced Edition for $117.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 takes some risks with the formula, most notably by dripping the single-player campaign. However, it's still a feature rich experience thanks to the suite of traditional multiplayer modes, as well as new Zombies missions and Blackout, which is Call of Duty's take on the battle royale genre.

Reviews editor Kallie Plagge awarded it an 8/10 in our review of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, saying it "isn't short on content, and its three main modes are substantial. Multiplayer introduces more tactical mechanics without forcing you into them, and it largely strikes a good balance. Zombies has multiple deep, secret-filled maps to explore, though its returning characters don't hold up and prove distracting. Finally, Blackout pushes Call of Duty in an entirely new direction, making use of aspects from both multiplayer and Zombies for a take on the battle royale genre that stands on its own. Sure, there isn't a traditional single-player campaign, but with the depth and breadth of what is there, Black Ops 4 doesn't need it."

Red Dead Redemption 2 Legendary Bear Pelt Guide -- Here's What To Do With It

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 26, 2018 10:40 pm

When you're not robbing, riding from town to town, and trying to keep rescue your fellow gangsters from the law in Red Dead Redemption 2, chances are pretty good you'll be hunting. Tracking and killing animals keeps you and your gang fed and earns you crafting materials, as well as goods to sell to make money to get Arthur better equipment. But for any hunter in Red Dead Redemption 2, the ultimate prize are the various Legendary Animals scattered around the map, whose pelts yield unique rewards--if you're canny enough to bring them down.

In Chapter 2, you'll be introduced to your first Legendary Animal in a story mission with Hosea, in which he and Arthur set out to hunt a huge grizzly bear. You can return to the hunt later if you're so inclined, but it's possible to take the bear on your first encounter with it, if you're skilled (or more likely, lucky). If you manage to kill and skin the big grizzly, you'll get a Legendary Bear Pelt, a unique item in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 that can be used to make special new gear.

The question is, what exactly do you do with the huge Legendary Bear Pelt once you have it? Red Dead 2 isn't very clear on this point. In fact, there are special requirements for using the pelts of Legendary Animals--you can't just sell them to any store in a town, or donate them to Pearson back at your camp. In the case of the Legendary Bear pelt, there's a good chance you won't even have heard of the person yet who you need to interact with in order to use it.

Here's what you need to know about hunting the Legendary Bear, where you'll find it, and what to do once you've killed it.

No Caption Provided

Where To Find The Bear

The easiest way to get to and deal with the Legendary grizzly is in Chapter 2, when you take on the mission Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego from Hosea. Arthur and Hosea will head out to find the Baharati Grizzly Bear in the Grizzlies East region, north of O'Creagh's Run, and once you've finished the mission, the bear will be hanging around in the area for you to hunt. Once you've fought off the bear during the mission, Hosea will decide to take his leave of hunting giant killer animals with some "I'm getting too old for this s---" dialogue. At that point, you can choose to stick around and finish what you started and take down the bear.

It's worth noting that the bear is no pushover and it can definitely kill you if you're not careful. If you're not outfitted super well at this point in the game, you might want to take some time in the world to earn better gear and improve Arthur's well-being before you commit to the fight. That said, it's possible to kill the bear here and now--we did it with Arthur's stock weapons that he had at this point in the game.

Bring down the bear and you'll be able to skin it, taking a whole bunch of stuff, including the Legendary Bear Pelt. This is the unique item you need for crafting special clothing you can't get anywhere else.

No Caption Provided

You've Got The Legendary Bear Pelt--Now What?

Once you have the pelt, you'll probably be pretty confused about what to actually do with it. Regular shopkeepers won't take the pelt off your hands, and neither will Pearson in camp. You need to go to a specific person to deal with the pelt: the Trapper.

If you talk to Pearson, he may well off-handedly mention the Canadian fur trapper who hangs around in the area, which will mark the Trapper's location on your map. He roams around, so make sure to check your map for his icon before heading out. He also has a shop in Saint Denis, located in the southeast corner of the map, in the outdoor market, where you can reliably find him.

No Caption Provided

When you find the Trapper, you'll be able to check out his goods, all of which are unique clothes made from the pelts of Legendary Animals. The thing is, you'll need more than to just take down the bear if you want the whole outfit. Various Legendary Bear items also require other pelts, as well as for you to spend some money. Here's what you'll need to craft each piece of the Legendary Bear outfit:

  • Legendary Bear Head Hat: Legendary Bear Pelt, $40,
  • Legendary Bear Coat: Legendary Bear Pelt, Perfect Bison Pelt, $28
  • Legendary Bear Roper: Legendary Bear Pelt, Perfect Bull Hide, $34

Completing the outfit also requires the Boar Riding Gloves, which require a Perfect Boar Pelt and two Perfect Rabbit Pelts, and will cost you $15.

Though each of the bear items notes that a Legendary Bear Pelt is required, there's only the one. Once you've taken down the Baharit Grizzly, you'll have fulfilled the Bear Pelt requirement for each clothing item.

No Caption Provided

What Happens If You Lose Your Bear Pelt?

You'll likely sling the Legendary Bear Pelt onto your horse and then find yourself riding for quite a ways to track down the Trapper, whether you're headed south to Saint Denis or out into the wilderness. In all that travel time, misfortune can easily befall even the most careful of cowboy, and if your horse falls or you're killed, you'll likely lose the Legendary Bear Pelt.

That's okay! Don't panic. Whether you carry the pelt physically to the Trapper or not, once you've killed and skinned the Baharati Grizzly Bear, the pelt is unlocked. That requirement will be fulfilled on the Trapper's list even if you don't actually carry the skin all the way to him. You can still access the clothing items once you have everything you need for the recipes.

There are a whole lot of other Legendary Animals to find out there in the big world of Red Dead Redemption 2--check out our guide on where to locate them all. And try our clothing guide for information about where you can get more clothes to customize Arthur's look.

Where Is Xur? Destiny 2 Exotics & Location Guide (Nov. 23-26)

By Phil Hornshaw on Nov 26, 2018 10:35 pm

Season 4 is ending in Destiny 2, and that means that this is your last week to visit Xur before the Season of the Forge begins. As always with his weekend visits, Xur brings a batch of Year One Exotic weapons and armor that can help you fill out your collections--but it's possible his goods could change after November 27, so you best take advantage while you can.

You'll find Xur this week in the EDZ of Earth, in the area called Winding Cove. To get to him, spawn into the area, hop on your sparrow, and drive north. You'll soon find some Fallen enemies and a cliff ascending upward. Xur is at the top, hanging out beneath a crashed Fallen ship.

Xur's bag of Exotics, as usual, totes one weapon and one piece of armor for each of the three classes, specifically from Destiny 2's Year One collection. Your weapon selection this week is Suros Regime, an auto rifle that's all about sustained fire. Its Suros Legacy perk encourages you to hit enemies with an entire magazine rather than reload--you'll get bonus damage for hitting with bullets from the bottom half of the mag, and killing enemies with those bullets has a chance of returning health to you.

On the armor side, Warlocks get the Karnstein Armlets, gauntlets built for melee that give you health bursts on kills, plus a short period of health restoration. For Hunters, there's the Wormhusk Crown helmet, which gives you a little health and shield bump every time you pull off a dodge. Finally, there's Armamentarium for Titans, a chest piece that comes with a second grenade charge.

  • Suros Regime (Exotic auto rifle) -- 29 Legendary Shards
  • Karnstein Armlets (Exotic Warlock gauntlets) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • Wormhusk Crown (Exotic Hunter helmet) -- 23 Legendary Shards
  • Armamentarium (Exotic Titan chest armor) -- 23 Legendary Shards

Alongside the items above, which you can purchase directly, you can also shell out Legendary shards for Xur's Fated Engram. This engram is guaranteed to decrypt into a Year One Exotic you don't already own, making it a good way to fill out your collection if you find Xur's offerings lacking--provided you can afford it. Make sure you buy it on the character whose class you want the Exotic to match.

As you finish up Season 4 and get ready for the Black Armory expansion, don't forget to track down another Exotic that's just been added to the game: Thunderlord. The three-week quest that came with the Festival of the Lost is at an end, and you can do all of it pretty quickly--check out our guide for more details.

Where Is Red Dead Online, Red Dead 2's Multiplayer? [Update]

By Steve Watts on Nov 26, 2018 10:11 pm

We were told to expect Red Dead Online in late November, and sure enough, that's precisely when it's launching. Rockstar has finally outlined its plans for when Red Dead Redemption 2's online multiplayer will launch, and it begins on Tuesday, November 27, with a staggered rollout depending on what version of the game you bought and when you first played it.

Rockstar has shared the first details regarding Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode, named simply Red Dead Online. As was the case with Grand Theft Auto V's online component, GTA Online, Red Dead Online will not launch alongside the game itself; instead, it will debut sometime in November 2018--one month after Redemption 2 itself releases--and will start as a public beta. Anyone who owns a copy of RDR2 will have free access to Red Dead Online; there's no indication the multiplayer mode will be made available separately.

"Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players," the announcement states.

No Caption Provided

But in a moment of expectations-setting, the announcement also warns that players who hop on immediately are likely to experience some growing pains. Specifically, the studio says it expects turbulence at launch, and to work with the community to overcome "teething problems" and develop Red Dead Online over time.

That roadmap makes it sound very similar to Grand Theft Online, which was fairly rough when it first launched a few weeks after the launch of Grand Theft Auto V. Rockstar has been treating it as a live service since then, though, and has continuously added new features, modes, and cosmetic items over the course of years. Red Dead Online is likely to get a similar treatment given the phenomenal long-term success of GTA V.

The November launch target also sets it apart from the release date for Red Dead Redemption 2 itself, which is set to release on October 26. For more details, check out our wrap-up of everything we know so far. Finally, we've got new screenshots, hunting details, and word of a PS4 Pro bundle.

Black Friday and itself may be over, but Nintendo's Eshop sale will continue right through Cyber Monday. We'll be keeping track of all the latest and best Cyber Monday deals to see what else might pop up; Target's 15% off sale unfortunately excludes Switch games and hardware, but it does let you get cheap Pro Controllers and Joy-Cons. It's also a good time to stock up on a microSDXC card, which will come in handy if you're buying things from the Eshop sale detailed below.

The Black Friday 2018 is done, but the shopping bonanza is still going, which means various retailers have a plethora of discounts and deals on offer. Not one to be left out of festivities, Nintendo has now revealed which digital Switch and 3DS games you can get on the cheap as part of its Eshop sale. We've also got a roundup of the best Switch Eshop game deals, and it seems like the sale might expand, as Friday brought with it a handful of additional games that weren't in the original sale lineup.

The sale is already live and will last until November 28 at 8:59 AM PT / 11:59 AM ET / 4:59 PM GMT / 2:59 AM on November 29 for AEDT. Red Dead Redemption 2 Online Details, Release Date, Ultimate Edition Early Access

By Tamoor Hussain on Nov 26, 2018 09:58 pm

Red Dead Redemption 2's online beta will be available on PS4 and Xbox One from November 27, developer Rockstar Games has announced. As detailed on its website, Rockstar plans to roll out access to the Read Dead Online gradually over the coming week, starting with owners of Red Dead Redemption 2's Ultimate Edition on November 27 and building up to full public access by November 30.

On November 27, anyone that owns Red Dead Redemption 2's Ultimate Edition will be able to access the beta from 8:30 AM ET / 5:30 AM PST / 1:30 PM GMT / 12:30 AM AEDT (November 28). Those that played Red Dead Redemption 2 on its launch day--based on Rockstar's own data--will be given access to the beta from November 28. If you played the game at any point between launch and October 29, you'll be able to jump into the beta from November 29. Finally, everyone else that owns the game can check out the beta from November 30. This gradual rollout, Rockstar says, will help it "ease into the beta and to mitigate major issues."

According to Rockstar, Red Dead Online "blends the classic multiplayer of the original Red Dead Redemption with the best of everything we have learned since then about creating deep multiplayer experiences." The result, it adds, is "something completely new and fun, and an experience that will continue to expand and evolve over time."

Rockstar continues: "With the gameplay of Red Dead Redemption 2 as its foundation, Red Dead Online transforms the vast and deeply detailed landscapes, cities, towns and habitats of Red Dead Redemption 2 into a new, living online world ready to be shared by multiple players."

Red Dead Online will allow players to create their own characters and select abilities that are in line with their playstyle. From there, players can choose to venture out into the online world alone or with a Posse of up to seven other players.

Players will be able to engage in a variety of activities in Red Dead Online. They can hang out with their friends around the campfire, do some hunting or fishing, kill a few hours in towns brimming with life, trade steel with rival gangs or plot ambushes of their hideouts. Treasure scattered around the world is available to be found, and there's also familiar characters waiting with missions for you to undertake. For those that don't want to be directed to do things, you can start spontaneous skirmishes with either other players, or entire Posses in open world challenges." And Rockstar says there's still more to be discovered beyond that.

The beta launch of Red Dead Online is described as "the first step in what will be a continually expanding and dynamic world." Rockstar notes that the beta period will be used to address the "inevitable turbulence of launching any online experience of this size and scale" and it intends to lean on its community to help it report problems, share ideas, and "assist in shaping the future of the full Online experience."

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been getting a lot of play among the GameSpot team. If we aren't putting together guides or getting up to no good as Dirty Arty--the meanest, most uncleanist outlaw in the wild west--we're thinking about what we'd like to see in the game. With that in mind, we've put together a Red Dead Online wishlist with some of our most wanted features.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has been a big success for Rockstar and parent publisher Take-Two. Just over a week after its launched it was announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 had passed 17 million copies shipped worldwide. That means it needed had already passed the lifetime shipment figure of the 2010 original, Red Dead Redemption. Take-Two said that Red Dead Redemption 2 shipped more units over its first eight days than the 2010 title shipped in its first eight years. Given the ongoing popularity of Grand Theft Auto V's Online mode--which contributes to continuing strong sales of the game--we expect Red Dead Redemption 2 also has a healthy future ahead of itself.

Nintendo Switch Cyber Monday Deals Now Live, Post-Black Friday: Console Bundles, Game Sale

By Chris Pereira on Nov 26, 2018 09:42 pm

Black Friday is behind us, and Cyber Monday is here to fill the deal-shaped hole in your heart. While we're seeing some repeat or inferior deals, we're also seeing some very good offers that weren't around last week. That includes Nintendo Switch console bundles and deals on Pro Controllers and Joy-Cons, which don't often go on sale. You can also still pick up a cheap microSDXC card for use with the system. Stay tuned to our Cyber Monday deals roundup for an updated look at everything that surfaces throughout the day and week.

Black Friday is over but many of the deals you've been waiting to secure are still live. We've rounded up all of the Nintendo Switch deals we've come across for you below. While some may have been fully claimed, there's a fair few that are still available, and with Cyber Monday around the corner more should appear soon. While not as exciting as the unexpected Fallout 76 deals on other platforms, Nintendo's Eshop Cyber Deals sale has grown with more digital Switch games added to the lineup.

In terms of the Nintendo Switch console, we're seeing an identical deal popping up in a lot of places since we first saw it in Target's preview ad. Target, Walmart, and Best Buy will sell the system for $300, as per usual (or $299 in Walmart's case), but the system will be a special bundle that comes with a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Unfortunately, if you were hoping for a sub-$300 Switch, we have yet to see anyone drop the system's price. If the aforementioned bundle doesn't appeal to you, Kohl's has a more expensive option that also comes with $90 in Kohl's Cash.

A large number of Switch games are on sale, although the sheer scale of these deals is not the same as on PS4 or Xbox One, as you'd expect. Still, there are some good offers: last year's surprisingly excellent XCOM-like, Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, drops to $20 at Best Buy; Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate drops to $35 at Target, Walmart, and Best Buy; Arms goes to $35 at Walmart; and Bayonetta 2 (which includes the previous game) will be $40 at Best Buy.

Nintendo will presumably launch its own game sale through the Switch Eshop, but as of yet that has not yet begun, as is the case with the PSN and Xbox Live sales. We'll report back if (but, more likely, when) it does.

Below, you'll find all of the Black Friday deals on Switch consoles, games, and accessories that we've spotted so far. More deals should be announced in the day ahead, and we'll keep this page updated. For even more, check out our full Black Friday deals coverage.

Hearthstone's New Rastakhan's Rumble Cards Give Priest More Survival Tools

By Steve Watts on Nov 26, 2018 09:30 pm

Hearthstone's next expansion, Rastakhan's Rumble, is storming into the arena on December 4. Blizzard is slowly showing off the full set of cards, and once again GameSpot has its own to reveal. This time, thanks to the synergy between them, we have not one but two new Priest cards to show.

The first is Sand Drudge, a nasty troll who summons zombies with Taunt each and every time you cast a spell. The Priest class already has a number of cheap spells, as well as methods of generating more. Cards like Lyra the Sunshard and Radiant Elemental are already used to make long chains of spells, and Sand Drudge will add a defensive element to the combo. While a row of 1/1 Zombies are weak to area-of-effect removal, the card creates one more obstacle before your opponent can take down your other minions.

But that's not all. Blizzard is also adding Regenerate, a new 0-Mana spell card that restores 3 Health. It's a simple effect with a lot of versatility, from activating your Northshire Cleric, to pairing with Prophet Velen, to serving as a cheap offensive option with Auchenai Soulpriest. Naturally it also pairs well with Sand Drudge, letting you one-two combo a healing effect while also protecting yourself behind a Taunt.

No Caption Provided
No Caption Provided

GameSpot spoke with Dean Ayala and Liv Breeden of the final and initial design teams for more insights on the ideas that sparked the two new Priest cards. In this case, Sand Drudge came from augmenting an existing Priest arch-type, which stacks the deck with lots of spells.

"It lets you cast a bunch of spells and have your engine for that hide behind a wall of Taunts," Breeden said. "They're not particularly aggressive or powerful but they do get in the way."

Since it fits so comfortably into Priest, the card was nearly ready-made from the start. Ayala noted that it may have once been a 3/2, but otherwise its design was essentially finished from the early design phase. He said the team likes to make cards that have a tension inherent in their decision-making.

"Sometimes you don't really want to play Sorcerer's Apprentice on [turn] two because you maybe you have a bunch of spells and you want to wait until you can get a huge effect from it," he said. "Whereas Sand Drudge, maybe you use it on turn three because you have a read on your opponent and they're not going to be able to get rid of it. Or maybe you have a bunch of spells in hand and you want to wait until turn six or seven. It plays a lot like Lyra does in that you don't just want to play it blank but if you do it's a risk you might take."

Meanwhile, Breeden noted, it gives your opponent more to do. "It's cool to have a bunch of minions on the board because if you're playing a heavy spell Priest, your opponent doesn't have a lot to interact with," she said. "This gives your opponent something to do besides hit you in the face. It creates interesting choices. Do you go for the Sand Drudge, do you go after zombies, do you ignore that and go face?"

And while the dream of any card like Sand Drudge is to become nigh-invincible, the likelihood is more that it will force your opponent to make sub-optimal plays. The zombies are vulnerable enough that they can be removed with most area-of-effect spells, but as Ayala noted, that means your opponent had to spend AOE on essentially dealing with a single card.

Meanwhile Regenerate adds a totally different kind of threat. Mana is one of the sharpest tools Hearthstone's designers have to balance a card, and 0-Mana cards remove that factor entirely. The only price is the opportunity cost of including it in your deck over another card. While Ayala says he likes the simplicity, it can make for tricky balancing.

"Anytime you're doing something for 0 Mana you're asking for trouble, because Mana is the restriction that you have," he said. "It's complicated because you have to think of all the different ways you can use a 0-Mana card and make sure that it's so absurdly broken that it's the only deck anyone plays.

"We knew we wanted to have a card that said restore X health, we knew we didn't want that number to be large, and I think when you have something that restores three or four [health] having it at 1 Mana cost just doesn't align with what the power level should be. It was just a matter of figuring out if there was any way to use this card that was so aggressive that it would restrict what else we could do."

And both cards fit into the flavor of Rastakhan's Rumble, albeit in different and sometimes counter-intuitive ways. Regenerate makes sense as a card in the troll-themed expansion, Breeden says, because trolls in World of Warcraft are known for growing back limbs. The creepy zombie mechanic may seem odd for an expansion loosely themed around professional wrestling, but Breeden made the case for it as well.

"We wanted the teams to feel unique and special," she said. "The Warriors are very much about smashing and trashing, going to the brawl. But the zombies are a little bit spooky. Not every wrestler is straightforward, some of them are the undead sort of vibe. They have weird stories, right? We wanted to play into different stories for different teams."

These are just two of the 135 new cards being added in Rastakhan's Rumble, so check out our gallery of all the cards revealed so far. Pre-purchases are now on sale in two tiers: $20 for 17 packs and a special card back, or $50 for 50 packs, the card back, and the Rastakhan Shaman skin.

Cyber Monday Now Live, Following Black Friday 2018 Deals On Switch, Red Dead 2, Fallout 76 And More

By Chris Pereira on Nov 26, 2018 09:30 pm

Black Friday is behind us, but that only means one thing: it's time for Cyber Monday. Many of the deals we're seeing so far are repeats of those from Black Friday, while others are simply not as good. But there have been a number of examples of things that are even better--you can get Hitman 2 for $30, a game that wasn't discounted at all last week, while Target's 15% off gives you a chance to get Switch controllers and Joy-Cons (which are rarely on sale) for less than usual. You can follow along with all the deals in our Cyber Monday deals roundup.

Black Friday 2018 might have technically been yesterday, but that doesn't mean you've missed your opportunity to get some deals. Every Black Friday sale we know about has already gone live, and your main concern at this point is items selling out as we head into the weekend. You don't have to worry about that with sales on Steam, PSN, the Eshop, and Xbox Live, though discounts on PS4 and Xbox One bundles may already be gone in some cases. We have been seeing unexpected deals pop up, and that may continue through Cyber Monday. For instance, Walmart cut Black Ops 4 to $37 on PS4 and Xbox One, beating not only its own advertised price, but the best price we had seen anywhere.

Ebay has offered some terrific deals leading up to Black Friday and is worth keeping an eye on. The PS4 Spider-Man bundle was on sale at numerous stores days before we expected, resulting in it being sold out at some locations already. PS Plus was $40 available at a whole bunch of retailers early as well, but in that case, at least you know you can turn to PSN to pick it up at that price. And after looking like Spider-Man and Fallout 76 wouldn't be discounted, we've now learned of deals on both.

Black Friday officially began today, on November 23, but we got a heads-up on what to expect. We started out by getting Target's ad early, giving us a look at what will be on sale across games, tech, and entertainment, and that's been followed by several other huge ones, Walmart and Best Buy. Everything from 4K TVs to PS4, Xbox One X, and Nintendo Switch are on sale, not to mention games and movies ranging from Red Dead Redemption 2 and Star Wars to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Deadpool 2. GameStop has also finally shared its ad, greatly expanding the list of deals.

As always, tracking what's on sale and where can be an overwhelming task, as can determining what the best deals are. We'll be doing our best to help you stay on top of this so you can make the most of Black Friday (and Cyber Monday immediately after that) without having to drown in a sea of circulars and hastily scrawled post-it notes. Below, you'll find our complete coverage of the event.

Games

Best Games Deals

Below you'll find roundups of all the deals on specific games, but we've also assembled a list of what we think are Black Friday 2018's best deals across PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Red Dead Redemption 2

Perhaps the biggest game release of the year came in October, likely too close to Black Friday for us to see extensive deals. And while we're not seeing much in the way of price cuts on the base games, there are some other sales of note.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey

2018's new entry in the Assassin's Creed series will be discounted on Black Friday, despite the fact that it only released in late October.

No Caption Provided

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Black Ops 4 represented a significant shift for the Call of Duty series, dumping a traditional single-player campaign and introducing a battle royale mode, Blackout. It's another game that, despite having only just been released, will be on sale come Black Friday.

Forza Horizon 4

Playground Games' terrific open-world driving game, Forza Horizon 4, is among the many games you'll find on sale this Black Friday. While you can play it through Xbox Game Pass, those looking to buy their own copy have numerous options.

God of War

God of War has been one of the year's standout games so far. It will be discounted this Black Friday, and thanks to the fact that it came out earlier in the year, the savings are even greater than with some of its fellow triple-A games that launched more recently.

SoulCalbur VI

The newest entry in the SoulCalibur series is a good one, and it of course brings with it a guest character--The Witcher's Geralt. Despite having only come out in late October, you'll find it for nearly half price on Black Friday.

Spider-Man

It looked as if Marvel's Spider-Man wouldn't be discounted on Black Friday outside of the $200 PS4 bundles, but it turns out you will be able to get a copy of it for as little as $40.

Fallout 76

Another game that seemed like it would go without any true Black Friday deals is Fallout 76, which would be understandable considering it was only just released. However, it will in fact go on sale for $40.

NBA 2K19

The most popular basketball game series returns with another strong entry in 2018. As with all of the year's big annual sports games, NBA 2K19 sees a nice discount on Black Friday.

GTA 5

With more than 100 million copies shipped, it seems like everyone should own a copy of Grand Theft Auto V by now. That's apparently not the case, as it continues to sell extremely well--and if you're among those looking to pick it up, you can do so on the cheap this Black Friday

WWE 2K19

WWE's annual wrestling sim, WWE 2K19, features a larger roster than ever before. And like so many of the other fall releases, this is one that will be on sale come Black Friday.

FIFA 19

Another popular annual sports game is FIFA 19, which comes packed with a variety of different modes, including the wildly popular Ultimate Team. You'll have some extra cash to pump into FUT thanks to these Black Friday deals.

Destiny 2: Forsaken Legendary Collection

There's never been a better time to jump into Destiny 2 thanks to the release of the Forsaken expansion. Legendary Collection gets you the base game and all DLC released for it to date.

Rainbow Six Siege

Although it's now a couple years old, Ubisoft's competitive shooter continues to grow strong, thanks in large part to a consistent stream of new content. As you'd expect, Siege will be discounted this Black Friday.

Pokemon

If you've got a need to catch 'em all, there's some good options on picking up a Pokemon game, and the hardware to play it. Although the latest games to be released in the franchise are Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, they're unlikely to be discounted soon. Instead, Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon can be purchased at a good price, and they're great games too. If you need hardware to play the games, there's a pretty nice 2DS bundle too.

Madden NFL 19

Want to challenge your friends and family to some virtual football this holiday season? The latest entry in the Madden series is the way to go. Whether you're an Xbox One or PlayStation 4 owner, there's discounts across all versions available.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

The third and final entry in the new series of Tomb Raider games, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, only just arrived in September, but you'll be able to find it for half price during Black Friday sales.

Movies

All Movies On Sale

There's a huge array of movies on sale, no matter the format you're looking for--DVD, Blu-ray, and even 4Ks have dropped in price steeply for Black Friday. We've rounded up all of the deals for you in one place.

Marvel Movies

Marvel movies are among the biggest in the industry, and so Black Friday wouldn't be complete without the MCU being discounted. These include recent 4K releases like Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Avengers: Infinity War

The biggest movie of the year will see some steep discounts during Black Friday, including on the 4K UHD version of the movie (which nets you bonus Blu-ray and digital copies).

Best Anime

If you're looking to fill out your collection of anime, there's a wide variety on sale this Black Friday, and we've rounded up picks for some of what we think are the best deals around.

Tips And Previews

When Do Black Friday Sales Begin?

It's difficult enough to keep track of all the deals, but further complicating matters are the way in which sales are staggered. No longer can you expect to just show up on Friday (or Thursday night) and be early--sales are starting hours or even days before then. We've done our best to compile all of this information in a digestible way.

What to Expect

We should have a firm idea of everything that will be on sale well in advance of Black Friday, but while we wait for all of the ads to come in, we've previewed what to expect from this year's big day. That may help you determine if you should buy something now or wait for a possible deal later this month.

Black Friday Tips

Anybody can walk into a story on Black Friday or browse to a retailer's website, but there are tips and tricks to best approaching it. We've put together a guide to help you make the most of all the big sales.

Cyber Monday's Best Nintendo Switch MicroSD Card Deals

By Steve Watts on Nov 26, 2018 09:29 pm

If you've recently picked up a Nintendo Switch for yourself or a loved one or you just want to have a better experience with the Switch you already own, getting a MicroSD card is a must. The Switch's internal storage isn't very large, but by adding some memory you can keep all of your digital purchases on the system without swapping out game carts. Cyber Monday is offering loads of good deals on lots of storage.

Starting on the low end, you can pick up a Samsung 64 GB card for just $11 today at Amazon. From there, cards range from 128 GB ($20) all the way to 400 GB ($126). Similarly, Best Buy has cards ranging from $12 for 64 GB to $20 for 128 GB. You can check out the line-up of deals below.

Cyber Monday has brought its own raft of good deals on Nintendo Switch consoles and accessories as well. You can get a Switch with a $50 GameStop gift card at GameStop, a Switch with a $35 eShop gift card from Best Buy. Target has discounts on both Pro Controllers and Joy-Cons. And lots of games like Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle are on sale as well.

Meanwhile, Nintendo's own eShop is having a Cyber Monday sale of its own. That means deals on the digital versions of lots of Switch games, like NBA 2K19 ($30), Dead Cells ($20), and Celeste ($16). Loading up your system with digital purchases makes it all the more important to have plenty of storage on hand with a MicroSD card. In fact, some games like NBA 2K19 require an SD card for additional storage.

For more cheap games and hardware check out our roundups of Cyber Monday discounts. Be quick, though. While some deals are running for a few days, several are only available on Cyber Monday itself.
