As you explore Red Dead Redemption 2's vast open world, you'll come across a lot of interesting (and slightly disturbing) things. Sometimes it's a wailing snake-bite victim in need of assistance; other times, it's a creepy abandoned building with a story to tell. But there's one set of chance encounters more gruesome than the rest, and once you find the first, you'll be on the lookout for a very messed-up serial killer.
You'll likely find the first murder scene early in the game. While the other two murder victims are a bit of a ride from the opening areas, you can find them at any time as long as you can freely roam the map. For this guide, we've kept location spoilers to a minimum, and all the screenshots are from an early save with little unlocked--so no worries if you want to play detective for a bit before you really dig into the rest of the game. Of course, this does contain spoilers for the American Dreams Stranger Mission.
There are three murder scenes to be found, with a piece of a map hidden at each. In order to initiate the Stranger Mission itself, you first have to put the map back together. In general, you're looking for an area that sticks out in some way--maybe you see blood stains on the road or vultures in the distance. You can also zoom in on the map when you get close, since an X marking the corpse will appear and show you the way.
Murder 1: South of Valentine
The first murder scene is just outside of Valentine. Follow the railroad tracks going south out of town; you'll have to ride directly on the tracks at one point to get over a gap, and then you'll find the body under the next overpass. The "front" of the scene faces west. You'll find creepy words written in paint on the right, and to the left, the victim's severed head is stuck to a support beam. In its mouth is the first of three map pieces.
Murder 2: West of Shady Belle
The second crime scene can be found in the Scarlett Meadows region, which is a decent ride southeast of Valentine. It's just west of Shady Belle or a bit south of Rhodes, depending on your angle of approach. It's easiest to spot coming from Shady Belle; take the road west, go straight at the first fork, and keep going straight for a bit until you reach a second major fork. Turn right here, then go straight until you reach another fork in the road. The corpse will be strung up in a large tree to your left; on your map, it will be right around where the "S" in "meadows" is. Go around the back of the tree to find the severed head and map piece.
Murder 3: Southwest of Wallace Station
The final murder victim can be found strapped to a large rock just southwest of Wallace Station in the West Elizabeth region (it's west and a bit south of Valentine, across the river). Cross the stream and you'll see the rock up the hill, likely with vultures perched on top of it. The head and final map piece are on a smaller rock to the left.
Step 2: Locating the Killer
Once complete, the map will give you vague instructions on where to go and what to do when you get there. It shows a bridge with arrows leading into a forest, a dilapidated log cabin, and a code for a combination lock: 6-34-32. As any true crime fan knows, murderers usually kill in areas they know and perhaps live in, which is as good a place to start as any. (If you'd rather solve the mystery yourself from here on out, don't keep reading!)
As it turns out, it ends where it all began: Valentine, or technically southwest of Valentine at a place called Lucky's Cabin. If you're coming straight from the Wallace Station murder scene, cross the river and follow the main road northeast--this is the direction shown on the map, and you'll turn left just after you cross the bridge to reach the cabin. If you're instead coming from Valentine, just follow the road out of town to the west.
With the pieced-together map, you'll be able to open the basement doors and see the horrors within. A white ? icon indicating a Stranger Mission should appear on the map around the cabin--if not, you might have an active mission you need to complete first. After taking a good look around the killer's hideout (use your lantern if you really want to see every grisly detail), head to the back and inspect the knife. This will trigger a cutscene, so all you need to do is follow the prompts.
Once you've hogtied and delivered the killer to the Sheriff's office in Valentine, he'll attack the Sheriff. Use Dead Eye to kill him and save the Sheriff for a reward, which will complete the American Dreams Stranger Mission. Hopefully Arthur isn't too creeped out.
Ubisoft has announced that, prior its release in China and other Asian territories, Rainbow Six Siege will receive several adjustments that censor certain maps and in-game icons. Instead of separating Siege into two different builds, the censorship will be applied to all versions of the game across the globe. The update will go live for Year 3, Season 4.
"We have a commitment to ensure that the Rainbow Six Siege experience remains true to its roots," Ubisoft assured in a blog post. "We are adjusting art and visuals, but are not compromising what makes Rainbow Six Siege the game you know today." In accordance with certain restrictions in Asian territories, Ubisoft is removing Siege's more overt references to violence--such as skulls and blood--as well as gambling and sex. In-game icons are also being made less violent. The symbol for melee attacks and damage--currently a knife--is being made into a closed fist, for example.
In terms of blood censorship, the blog post specifically only mentions environmental examples, such as aesthetic splatter on a wall being removed. We've reached out to Ubisoft to confirm whether or not additional references of blood--when an Operator is shot for example--will be censored as well.
Siege is also halfway through its Year 3, Season 3. A mid-season update adds balancing changes to the game's Operators and weapons--specifically Clash and Maestro, as well as the SMG-11 and Vector. The update implements a large amount of bug fixes as well.
This week's Siege challenges are focused on both Echo and Tachanka, as both Operators celebrate their birthdays this week. Echo's challenge tasks you to destroy 20 attacker drones while using her, which rewards you with a special dog tag charm for the Operator. Tachanka's challenge has the same requirements and awards, but must be done with the Russian soldier. The challenges end on November 6 at 6 AM PT / 8 AM ET / 3 PM BST.
Rainbow Six Siege is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
We're still a ways off from the last season of Game of Thrones, slated to air sometime in early 2019, but some info about the show's last six episodes is finally starting to come out. Specifically, we know how the final battle for Westeros against the White Walkers will begin: with the Mother of Dragons arriving in the North.
Entertainment Weekly released a long cover feature full of tidbits about the final season, and while HBO has been extremely protective of spoilers and secrets, showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff did give a few hints about what we can expect. Up first is the beginning of the final season, in which at least a few of the leaders of Westeros converge on Winterfell, the seat of House Stark and the fortress that's the centerpiece of humanity's defense against the Night King's undead army.
The opening of Season 8 will mirror that of Season 1, with Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) riding to Winterfell with her armies in preparation for the arrival of the Army of the Dead. It's a deliberate call all the way back to the first episode in 2011, when King Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) rode to Winterfell to ask his old friend, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), to return to King's Landing as his Hand of the King. That request kicked off years of warfare and led to many tragic deaths, and given that this is Game of Thrones, it's definitely not unreasonable to expect Daenerys's arrival could result in the same.
"It's about all of these disparate characters coming together to face a common enemy, dealing with their own past, and defining the person they want to be in the face of certain death," co-executive producer Bryan Cogman told EW. "It's an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season, and I think it honors very much what George set out to do--which is flipping this kind of story on its head."
Season 8 in general will be about characters we've been following throughout the show finally meeting each other, and the results of those interactions, and potential conflicts. Game of Thrones has always had the threat of the White Walkers looming in the distance, but the show is really about the characters and politics of Westeros and their endless battles for power. Those dynamics still exist in Season 8; for one thing, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), the Lady of Winterfell, is not super happy that her brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) bent the knee to Daenerys last season.
Regardless of whether the humans work out their differences--there's still the treacherous Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) down south in King's Landing, likely plotting something awful--the dead are coming. EW's report also discusses the massive battle that will inevitably take place in Winterfell, noting that one episode is going to be wall-to-wall action in Winterfell. According to Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister, the battle in Season 8 makes the massive Battle of the Bastards at Winterfell in Season 6 "look like a theme park." In fact, the epic scale of Season 8 once led Benioff and Weiss to speculate about releasing it as three standalone movies instead of a season of TV.
Other than the broad strokes, the rest of what might happen in Season 8 is still largely unknown. There might be a few clues in the recently released Game of Thrones tie-in game, Reigns: Game of Thrones, but we're stuck speculating until the show's 2019 release. Game of Thrones won't end there, though--the show's first prequel, set thousands of years before the current series, is now casting.
New details have slowly trickled out about HBO's first Game of Thrones spin-off series, even as we're finally learning something about the hit fantasy epic's last season. The biggest reveal about the Game of Thrones prequel series so far is probably its name: The Long Night.
Author George RR Martin, who penned the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books on which Game of Thrones is based, revealed the title on his blog following news that Naomi Watts had been cast as the lead of the new show, which is being run by Kingsman and Kick-Ass writer and producer Jane Goldman. For Game of Thrones fans, the name provides a huge piece of information that had previously been the subject of speculation, because it suggests the prequel will hinge on a very specific, and very terrifying, moment in the history of Westeros.
The Long Night refers to a time around 8,000 years before the current events of the show, during what's known in Game of Thrones lore as the Age of Heroes. It was specifically a very long winter--the world of Game of Thrones has weird seasons that can last years, and the Long Night lasted a generation. It was so bad that, according to the Starks' servant Old Nan, "There came a night that lasted a generation, and kings shivered and died in their castles even as the swineherds in their hovels. Women smothered their children rather than see them starve, and cried, and felt their tears freeze on their cheeks."
What was extra awful about the Long Night was the arrival of the Others, or White Walkers, for the first time in Westeros. Descending from the North, the White Walkers led an army of the dead that, Nan says, routed armies, swept through castles and towns, and showed no mercy. According to Westerosi legend, it was only when an unknown figure called the Last Hero sought out and allied with the magical folk called the Children of the Forest that the White Walkers were defeated.
So it definitely seems that The Long Night is going to cover a lot of that legendary ground, likely upending fan expectations by showing a truer version than the stories that were passed down around Westeros. From previous rundowns from HBO, we also know that The Long Night will deal with a few legendary figures, specifically Bran the Builder, the founder of House Stark (who also built Winterfell and the Wall), and Lann the Clever, the founder of House Lannister.
There's also the Children of the Forest, who we know from Game of Thrones were the original creators of the White Walkers. The Children of the Forest made the first of the undead creatures in response to the original humans to settle Westeros, the First Men, basically kicking them off their land and cutting down their forests. The Long Night creates an uneasy truce in the wake of that conflict.
Finally, there's likely to be some interesting things going on across the Narrow Sea in The Long Night, as well. The generation-long winter didn't just befall Westeros, it impacted the entire world, and the eastern civilizations have their own legend about what happened. That's the story of Azor Ahai, the hero in the Lord of Light religion, who used the glowing sword Lightbringer to battle "the darkness." It's not clear what exactly that means, or whether Azor Ahai and the Last Hero are one and the same.
Martin didn't reveal any other information about the show, but he did write that there still are other Game of Thrones prequels in "active development." Without revealing any potential stories for the other shows, he mentioned that "the readers among you might want to grab a copy of Fire & Blood," his upcoming book, when it's released on November 20. That story is also a Game of Thrones prequel, but goes back through the 300 years before the original books to detail the history of the Targaryen family--another fascinating time in Martin's world, filled with intrigue, war, and dragons.
Meanwhile, we do know that Season 8 of Game of Thrones made at least one cast member cry, and that it'll have the biggest and most brutal battle in the series' history. There was also a least a short time when showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss were considering trying to make three standalone movies out of the final season. And while there aren't too many details out there about what to expect from the end of Game of Thrones, a recently released tie-in video game might hold some clues.
Update: Following the conclusion of this episode of The Walking Dead, AMC announced Andrew Lincoln would continue with the franchise as the lead in three upcoming movies centered around the character of Rick Grimes.
It's the end of the road for Rick Grimes on The Walking Dead... right? Andrew Lincoln's final episode of the AMC series has come and gone. After that conclusion, though, you might be wondering just how final Rick's fate is.
Throughout the episode, it was clear that the former sheriff was at death's door. After falling onto some rebar, which ripped through him, he spends the majority of his last hour on the show bleeding out and trying to escape a herd of zombies, while having hallucinations of those he's lost in the past, including very short returns of Shane (Jon Bernthal), Hershel (Scott Wilson), and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green). That is until he blows up a bridge he and the walkers are on, sending them into a raging river below.
As Daryl (Norman Reedus) and the rest of our heroes looked on, distraught, it seemed as though Rick had really gone out with a bang. The episode didn't end there, though.
Instead, the show went back to Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh), the former Jadis. After seeing the plume of smoke from the explosion in the distance and heard commotion over the radio, she spots Rick's body washed up on the side of the river as that mysterious helicopter reappeared. "I have a B," she says into her radio. "Not an A, I never had an A. He's hurt, but he's strong. Can you help him?" From there, we quickly shift to the chopper taking off, with Anne and Rick safe and sound as "Spacejunk" by Wang Chung plays--no, seriously.
"You're still here," she tells Rick on the helicopter. "You're going to be okay. They're going to save you."
Who is they? That's the big question we're left with or at least one of them. The answer is most likely the Whisperers. This isn't the first time we've heard the terms "A" and "B" thrown around. While we can't be sure, this is most likely a reference to alphas and betas. As fans of the comics know, the Whisperers are led by a woman named Alpha, with her second-in-command named Beta.
While they have yet to arrive on the series, we know they are coming and are going to be a major antagonist later in the season. That doesn't necessarily bode well for Rick, though.
Still, this is Lincoln's final episode, and it ends with him alive, which could lead to two outcomes. Either this is how the series is leaving the door open for his possible return one day or the Whisperers are going to make an even more fierce introduction.
For those that don't follow the comics, the Whisperers travel through herds of walkers by wearing the skin of the dead over their own. It's disgusting and actually makes perfect sense in this disturbing world. If the show was looking for a way to really make an impact when they finally show their faces, wearing the skin of Rick Grimes would certainly create a lasting and haunting image. For now, though, this is the last we'll see of Rick Grimes--until he potentially comes back.
That wasn't the only thing that left jaws on the floor at the end of this episode, though. There was also a flash forward to an older Judith Grimes. While she's still young--clearly no older than 10--this Judith was walking, talking, and killing zombies. It would make her dad proud, but he's definitely probably dead.
When a group of people are saved from a small herd, they find this little girl with a sheriff's hat and a katana strapped to her back is their savior. While this short moment does give hope for the future of the Grimes name, it raises a lot of questions. How did this little girl end up on her own and, more importantly, where's Michonne? With her surrogate mother's weapon over her shoulder, it definitely leaves you wondering if she, too, has become just another victim of this horrible world.
As much as this was theoretically the end of a major chapter in The Walking Dead, the story of Rick Grimes, it certainly feels like a new beginning. It will be interesting to see where the show goes from here.
They don't call it the Wasteland for nothing in the Fallout series. The series' nuclear war-ravaged world is complete with mutated creatures, radiation-soaked zombies, and a mess of other scary things that hunt anybody foolish enough to go wandering around. But despite the hardships of the post-apocalypse, the Fallout series has also always had its survivors, whether they're farmers learning to cultivate an irradiated world, organizations hoping to rebuild society, or warlords trying to rule whatever's left.
Fallout 76 takes a different approach. Rather than the usual single-player RPG that finds players leaving an underground Vault to explore the Wasteland and meet the people who live in it, Fallout 76 removes NPCs and replaces them with other players.
The result is a Fallout game that feels a bit strange. Through about eight hours in various sessions of the Fallout 76 beta, it's been hard to shake a feeling of loneliness while playing a game devoid of characters. Even though you're surrounded by other players from the start, there's a feeling that West Virginia is already dead, and you're picking clean its corpse.
The creepy feeling comes early in the game, after you leave Vault 76, where you've waited out the first 20 years of nuclear fallout. Your job as one of Vault-Tec's best and brightest is to rebuild the world. You're a little late doing that at the start of the game, thanks to over-partying the night before the Vault opens. As a result, the main quest at the beginning of the game has you following the Vault's former Overseer as she travels the world hoping to find and take control of three remaining nuclear missile silos--ostensibly to keep those weapons from ever being used again.
Tracking the Overseer's path through the Wasteland takes you the town of Flatwoods near the Vault, where you learn about some folks trying to make the post-apocalypse a better place: the Responders. This group, mostly consisting of former first-responders like paramedics and firefighters, roam the Wasteland looking to help people, and have set up several communities for that purpose. When you arrive in their town, you take part in an automated process to join up as a volunteer. It's a tutorial that has you wandering around town, trying to find the people who can teach you to cook, clean your water, and perform other essential survival tasks. The state of the town makes what you're going to find a foregone conclusion, though, and before long you confirm that none of the nice people of Flatwoods has survived.
Your Responder volunteer training continues apace, thanks to audio diaries left behind by the Responders who didn't make it, and which give you a sense of the lives they lived as they fought to survive their new world. Before long, you intercept a Responder radio signal that directs you to their headquarters at Morgantown, a larger city with an airport. The signal is pretty desperate: the Responders are expecting an attack by zombie-like people called the Scorched, and they need all hands on deck in order to repel it.
Spoiler alert: They didn't.
Fallout 76's lack of NPCs turns its setting into a ghost world, with the player arriving just after the worst has already happened. Stumble on the cabin of an old moonshiner and you might find evidence of his existence, but not the man himself. Head over to Grafton, a town where the mayor is broadcasting a radio signal asking for assistance, and you find the humans are dead and a computer is running the show. The world of West Virginia was full of people before--it just isn't anymore.
Contrast that with previous Fallout games and it becomes clear why Fallout 76 just feels a bit off. In past games, pretty much the first thing players do is stumble into post-apocalyptic civilization, where the people of the Wasteland aren't just eking out lives for themselves, but often thriving. One of the first people you meet in Megaton, the first town in Fallout 3, is its sheriff, which shows that the settlement isn't just a bunch of people barely hanging on, but one that has laws, and someone to enforce them. Places like Diamond City in Fallout 4, or the Strip in New Vegas, show just how strong civilization can become. These aren't just places where you pick up quests, they're evidence that Wasteland life continues. They make the world feel substantial and lived-in, and they give your actions in that world stakes.
Fallout 76 makes its approach a little more uncanny by constantly supplying audio diaries and information about those lost souls in whose wakes you follow. A group of audio tapes left by the Responders called Survivor Stories gives the characters just enough backstory to make their absences more haunting. Your path following the Overseer is similarly replete with bits of character-building audio, as your leader visits the important places from her pre-Vault life and talks about her memories. All these tiny stories are well-written and well-acted, which makes them stand out even more. There was life in the Wasteland in Fallout 76--we just missed it.
Adding other players to Fallout 76 at the expense of NPCs is a trade that sacrifices something essential about the Fallout games. The series has always been both somber and satirical in equal measure, but at its heart it was at least a little bit hopeful. The world didn't end when the nukes fell, it just changed.
Filling the Wasteland of Fallout 76 with players doesn't make it feel any less dead. We might build camps and buildings, but it's likely we'll all eventually put on party hats and aviator sunglasses, flash goofy emotes at each other, and try to murder each other. There's a transitory lightness to the multiplayer side of games like this that no amount of audio logs can overcome.
Without characters, Fallout 76 has no narrative balance against the people just screwing around in the Wasteland, and therefore, nothing to make the world feel substantial. It's sad, because the fascinating, engrossing stories of the people who once populated Fallout's West Virginia are there. They're just not around to make you care anymore.
A big chunk of the experience of Red Dead Redemption 2 is crossing the rolling plains, deserts and forests of the Wild West on horseback. The world of RDR 2 is huge, and while there are a lot of things to grab your attention along the way no matter where you're headed, getting anywhere is going to take time. That's not always a bad thing; the world of RDR2 is beautiful, and it's kind of nice to just sit on your horse and take it all in. But constantly steering your horse to keep it on trail and definitely get tedious.
You can make your travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 a little more relaxing by letting your horse take the lead when you ride. The game includes a feature that lets you set your horse to automatically take you to a destination by sticking to trails and roadways. Your horse is pretty smart, and once you've given it the right instructions, it can be trusted to do the traveling--you just need to pay attention to any events happening on the side of the road that you might want to check out, and to watch for any bandits who might try to get the drop on you.
In order to set your horse to autopilot, you first need to define where you want the horse to go. Do that by pulling open your map and setting a waypoint marker at your destination. The game then lays out the route to your location by way of trails, like a GPS would. That's the path your horse will follow to your destination.
When you mount up, start riding your horse like normal, and press the button to spur it (X on PlayStation, A on Xbox One) until you get up to the speed at which you want to travel. Once you're going fast enough, hold down the spur button to maintain your horse's speed, same as when you're matching speed with a companion during a mission.
While you're holding the spur button, press and hold the button to switch camera perspectives (the trackpad on PS4, View on Xbox). You'll see a small meter filling in the corner of the screen marked Cinematic Camera. Once that activates, your horse will follow the trails to your final destination with no further input from you. In fact, you can lay the camera down and watch as the camera swings around to give you different perspectives on Arthur's ride and the world around him.
Once you're going, you can tap the spur button again in time with your horse's gallop to speed it up, and touch the slow button (R1 on PS4, RB on Xbox) to reduce your horse's speed without canceling its autopilot. Pressing in the right Analog Stick switches the camera to a new angle, should you not like the one the game picks for you. You can take back control just by touching the control sticks, and you can switch the camera back to normal by tapping the camera button again.
The Cinematic Camera trick is nice when you've got a long trip and you don't want to bother steering your horse around every tiny curve in the trail, but it has some drawbacks. For one thing, you won't be able to quickly see things on the side of the road until you turn off the Cinematic Camera, should you happen to ride past an optional activity. You'll also be a bit vulnerable if you're letting the horse do the driving, should bandits, outlaws, or lawmen attack you while you ride.
Generally, though, letting your horse take the reigns is a nice way to relax as you get around Red Dead Redemption 2 and enjoy the scenery. Just be sure to keep your revolver handy--just in case.
The beta for Fallout 76 continues, but as you read this, you likely can't actually play it. That's because Bethesda only has its servers available at certain times; trying to get in outside of these specific windows will yield a "login failed" error. Below, we've got all the details you need to know regarding exactly when you can play. At the time of this writing, the next test takes place on November 3 with a test that will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Read on for the full schedule (so far).
Fallout 76's debut test was available only on Xbox One for a four-hour window on October 23. That has since passed, with Bethesda deeming it an "amazing start." Additional test periods will continue to be available for a limited time. The purpose of this is to force players together at a specific time to stress test and put the game through its paces. Sessions will typically last 4-8 hours in a given day, and then the beta will be inoperable again until the next session. The process will repeat between now and the game's release date on November 14.
A beta code is available to anyone who pre-ordered the game across Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Pre-loading is available on all platforms. You'll receive a code with your physical pre-order to enter into the accounts page, or you'll be entered into the pool automatically if you pre-order a digital copy. Note that those codes don't grant you access. Rather, they put you into the potential pool of players to get a distribution code later, since Bethesda is rolling out the invites in waves.
When you're not robbing folks, riding from town to town, and trying to keep your gang out of trouble in Red Dead Redemption 2, chances are pretty good you'll be hunting. Tracking and killing animals keeps you and your gang fed and earns you crafting materials, as well as goods to sell to make money to get Arthur better equipment. But for any hunter in Red Dead Redemption 2, the ultimate prize are the various Legendary Animals scattered around the map, whose pelts yield unique rewards--if you're canny enough to bring them down.
In Chapter 2, you'll be introduced to your first Legendary Animal in a story mission with Hosea, in which he and Arthur set out to hunt a huge grizzly bear. You can return to the hunt later if you're so inclined, but it's possible to take the bear on your first encounter with it, if you're skilled (or more likely, lucky). If you manage to kill and skin the big grizzly, you'll get a Legendary Bear Pelt, a unique item in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2 that can be used to make special new gear.
The question is, what exactly do you do with the huge Legendary Bear Pelt once you have it? Red Dead 2 isn't very clear on this point. In fact, there are special requirements for using the pelts of Legendary Animals--you can't just sell them to any store in a town, or donate them to Pearson back at your camp. In the case of the Legendary Bear pelt, there's a good chance you won't even have heard of the person yet who you need to interact with in order to use it.
Here's what you need to know about hunting the Legendary Bear, where you'll find it, and what to do once you've killed it.
Where To Find The Bear
The easiest way to get to and deal with the Legendary grizzly is in Chapter 2, when you take on the mission Exit Pursued By a Bruised Ego from Hosea. Arthur and Hosea will head out to find the Baharati Grizzly Bear in the Grizzlies East region, north of O'Creagh's Run, and once you've finished the mission, the bear will be hanging around in the area for you to hunt. Once you've fought off the bear during the mission, Hosea will decide to take his leave of hunting giant killer animals with some "I'm getting too old for this s---" dialogue. At that point, you can choose to stick around and finish what you started and take down the bear.
It's worth noting that the bear is no pushover and it can definitely kill you if you're not careful. If you're not outfitted super well at this point in the game, you might want to take some time in the world to earn better gear and improve Arthur's well-being before you commit to the fight. That said, it's possible to kill the bear here and now--we did it with Arthur's stock weapons that he had at this point in the game.
Bring down the bear and you'll be able to skin it, taking a whole bunch of stuff, including the Legendary Bear Pelt. This is the unique item you need for crafting special clothing you can't get anywhere else.
You've Got The Legendary Bear Pelt--Now What?
Once you have the pelt, you'll probably be pretty confused about what to actually do with it. Regular shopkeepers won't take the pelt off your hands, and neither will Pearson in camp. You need to go to a specific person to deal with the pelt: the Trapper.
If you talk to Pearson, he may well off-handedly mention the Canadian fur trapper who hangs around in the area, which will mark the Trapper's location on your map. He roams around, so make sure to check your map for his icon before heading out. He also has a shop in Saint Denis, located in the southeast corner of the map, in the outdoor market, where you can reliably find him.
When you find the Trapper, you'll be able to check out his goods, all of which are unique clothes made from the pelts of Legendary Animals. The thing is, you'll need more than to just take down the bear if you want the whole outfit. Various Legendary Bear items also require other pelts, as well as for you to spend some money. Here's what you'll need to craft each piece of the Legendary Bear outfit:
Legendary Bear Head Hat: Legendary Bear Pelt, $40,
Completing the outfit also requires the Boar Riding Gloves, which require a Perfect Boar Pelt and two Perfect Rabbit Pelts, and will cost you $15.
Though each of the bear items notes that a Legendary Bear Pelt is required, there's only the one. Once you've taken down the Baharit Grizzly, you'll have fulfilled the Bear Pelt requirement for each clothing item.
What Happens If You Lose Your Bear Pelt?
You'll likely sling the Legendary Bear Pelt onto your horse and then find yourself riding for quite a ways to track down the Trapper, whether you're headed south to Saint Denis or out into the wilderness. In all that travel time, misfortune can easily befall even the most careful of cowboy, and if your horse falls or you're killed, you'll likely lose the Legendary Bear Pelt.
That's okay! Don't panic. Whether you carry the pelt physically to the Trapper or not, once you've killed and skinned the Baharati Grizzly Bear, the pelt is unlocked. That requirement will be fulfilled on the Trapper's list even if you don't actually carry the skin all the way to him. You can still access the clothing items once you have everything you need for the recipes.
There are a whole lot of other Legendary Animals to find out there in the big world of Red Dead Redemption 2--check out our guide on where to locate them all. And try our clothing guide for information about where you can get more clothes to customize Arthur's look.
Ubisoft has once again canceled its planned Epic Mercenary event for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, and has now suspended the feature indefinitely while it works out the kinks. As a make-good, the company is offering additional Epic Ship events and a discount on a Legendary item.
In a statement on its official forums, Ubisoft said that it discovered a bug that was causing the Epic Mercenary events not to appear properly for most players. "It wasn't satisfactory to have an event available to only a portion of our players, so we decided to temporarily remove the Epic Mercenary Events from the game altogether until the issue is resolved."
Ubi says it hopes to provide an ETA as soon as possible, and it currently plans to bring a fix later this month. Epic Ship events will take place each week moving forward for the time being, and Ubisoft will be discounting Sargon's Legendary item by 80 Orichalcum next week.
The Epic Mercenary events are part of the live events package Ubisoft has planned for Odyssey to keep it going well into the long-term. This particular mercenary was supposed to be Damais the Indifferent, and it was first scrapped weeks ago. Ubisoft described its post-launch plans as the "biggest and most ambitious" in the franchise's history, intended to keep players engaged as Ubisoft takes a year off from creating a new main Assassin's Creed game in 2019.
November is here, and although Black Friday 2018 isn't until November 23, some retailers have already begun pulling back the curtain on the deals they'll offer on the big day. Target has released its Black Friday ad, which means you can start preparing for what video games, consoles, accessories, TVs, tablets, and other items you'll to want to buy on the biggest shopping day of the year. You can find the full Target Black Friday ad here, but we've gone in and pulled out all of the gaming deals below.
You can get these sale prices online or in store, but as always, stock will be limited. If you want to brave the crowds and get your hands on the items in person, Target stores will be open and offering these deals from 5 PM Thursday, November 22 to 1 AM Friday, November 23. Then--presumably after spending a few hours cleaning up and re-stocking--they'll re-open Friday, November 23 at 7 AM. It's possible certain stores will use different hours, so you might want to double-check closer to Black Friday.
A few video game items are listed as doorbusters in Target's ad. For starters, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 on both PS4 and Xbox One will be on sale for $45--not a bad discount for a game that just launched last month. Another recent game is getting an even bigger price drop; the starter pack for the toys-to-life space shooter Starlink: Battle for Atlas will be on sale for $40, down from $75.
In terms of hardware doorbusters, you'll be able to get a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB console with Spider-Man for $200 (for a savings of $100). Also $100 off is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with the headset, camera, and two Move controllers, as well as copies of Superhot VR and Creed: Rise to Glory, all for $250.
Even many of the non-doorbuster discounts are much better than you'd see during normal sales. Assassin's Creed Odyssey can be had for $35, while Shadow of the Tomb Raider is down to $30. Overwatch and Star Wars Battlefront 2 are down to just $15 each. A Nintendo Switch can be had for its usual price of $300 but with a free copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Now it's time for the big list. All of the following games will be available at the prices listed below on Black Friday, but Target says even more games will also be on sale. We'll update this article when we find out what those are. In the mean time, check out the full list and start planning your Black Friday 2018 purchases now.
Don't look now, but Black Friday is barreling toward us like a freight train--a freight train that's full of deals. For 2018, Black Friday takes place on November 23, and while that might still be a few weeks from now, it's not too early to start planning. If you're in the market for a PS4 console, accessories, or games--whether it's a gift for someone else or a gift for yourself--you likely won't find lower prices at any other time of year. We've gathered all of the PlayStation 4 deals announced so far into one place so you can get the best deal on whatever it is you're looking for. We'll keep this article updated as more retailers announce their Black Friday plans, so check back later; for now, the big ad we've gotten is from Target.
When it comes to PS4 consoles, the best deal announced so far is from Target, whose doorbuster deal will get you a PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB and Spider-Man as a pack-in game for $200. That's a great deal, seeing as the console normally costs around $300 and Spider-Man costs $60. Alternately, you can get PlayStation 4 Slim 500 GB from Sam's Club for $229, but you'll need a membership.
In terms of accessories, another doorbuster Target will offer is a PlayStation VR bundle that comes with a camera, Move controllers, Creed: Rise to Glory, and Superhot VR, all for $250. Also, both Target and Kohl's will have DualShock 4 controllers available for $40.
As was to be expected from a 40-minute presentation, last week's Nintendo Direct centered on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was a big one. It featured a ton of news about the game, and among the most important bits were the final members of the roster being revealed. We now know everyone who will be available on release day, and as you'd probably expect, the lineup will only grow post-launch through DLC. But even that isn't quite as simple as you might have thought.
The Direct started out with the reveal of two new characters. Street Fighter's Ken is an echo fighter of Ryu but is faster and has some other points of distinction. Pokemon's Incineroar also joins Ultimate's full character roster and boasts an array of pro-wrestling-inspired moves.
Although the video stated these two characters rounded out the final roster of 74, it didn't take long for that to prove not to be the case. Later in the stream, it was confirmed that DLC characters are on the way, and that these won't be echo fighters. Work hasn't yet started, so we'll be seeing these new characters added all the way through February 2020.
Nintendo has plans for a total of five DLC fighters, with each one being sold in a bundle alongside a new stage and music for $6 in the US. There will also be a $25 bundle called the Fighters Pass that gets you all five of these. Alongside a small discount over buying them individually, the Fighters Pass entitles you to an in-game outfit based on Xenoblade Chronicles 2 protagonist Rex.
But even that still didn't represent all of the character news we got. As a pre-order bonus of sorts, yet another fighter will be available: Piranha Plant. By purchasing the game digitally or physically (in which case you have to register the game card online) before the end of January 31, 2019, you'll get access to the character for free once it's ready "around" February 2019. A Piranha Plant stage and music are also in the works, and for those who don't qualify for the freebie, it will be available as DLC at some point in the future.
Alongside all of this character news, we learned a lot more about Ultimate, including details on the new Spirits mode and how online multiplayer works. Ultimate is due for release on December 7. There's no word on when we'll learn the identities of the DLC characters, but hey--at least there's reason for hope if you want to see Waluigi or Geno make the cut.
We're past the halfway point of Season 6 in Fortnite: Battle Royale. Week 6's challenges are now available and consist of the standard mix of tasks for players to complete as they seek a Victory Royale. Three challenges are offered to all players for free, but four others are reserved for Battle Pass owners, including landing in particular locations and finding sets of sheet music. Fortnitemares challenges, on the other hand, are now gone, but in their place are Lil' Kev challenges.
As Season 6 of Fortnite: Battle Royale rolls on, new challenges continue to roll out on all platforms--PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android. Those feed into the latest Battle Pass, and as with previous seasons, you level that up by playing the game and completing challenges. Every week there will be a new set of tasks for players to complete that unlock Battle Stars and level up the Battle Pass to unlock goodies.
Like in Season 5, weekly challenges are split into two categories. The first is a free set, which are available to all Fortnite players, while the second is for Battle Pass owners. To get a Battle Pass you'll need to cough up 950 V-Bucks in game. If you haven't bought the Battle Pass, you'll be able to complete certain objectives and earn some rewards, but some of the coolest unlocks are locked behind the paid Battle Pass, so if you plan on sinking lots of time into Fortnite, we recommend picking that up.
Although you can pick up a Battle Pass later and go back to unlock any premium rewards you've earned based on the tier that you've already reached, there is one major advantage in doing it at the start of the season. Namely that you'll get bonus XP, which is dished out for just playing the game either alone or with buddies. This XP levels you up and translates to Battle Stars that also level up your pass, so it may be a good idea to get in early if you can.
Alongside the standard challenges, there are also Hunting Party challenges for those who buy the Battle Pass. These operate similarly to the Blockbuster and Road Trip objectives of past seasons, where each one tasks you with completing all challenges from a single week during the season. The reward for each is a loading screen that reveals the location of a hidden Battle Pass tier you can then obtain. Additionally, by completing seven of these, you'll earn a Legendary skin that will remain a mystery for now.
Each week we'll have guides on the trickiest challenges to make things quicker and easier for you. However, this article will serve as a hub for all our guides so, as the season goes on, you'll be able to keep coming back here to get the latest guides as well as ones for previous weeks. This will be especially helpful if you decided to pick up a Battle Pass part of the way into the season. If you're wondering if it's worth the effort, you can take a look at all of Fortnite Season 6's new skins, cosmetics, emotes, sprays, and other items to unlock in this gallery of Fortnite Season 6 Battle Pass rewards.

November has arrived, and it's time to plan out your Black Friday shopping. With the downtime you're more than likely to have this holiday season, wouldn't you like to have something to watch? Target has revealed its Black Friday deals, which includes video games and TVs, and the circular has plenty of huge deals on movies and TV series. You can check out Target's full ad here, but we've gone through and picked out some items that may be of some interest to you.
Most of these items are available online as well as in the stores. If you're planning on making the journey with the masses to a local Target, the doors open at 5 PM on Thursday, November 22 and will stay open until 1 AM on Friday, November 23. During this time, Target will more than likely restock the shelves and its employees will try and regain their sanity. The store will re-open at 7 AM that morning on Friday. Hours may vary depending on location. It's first come, first served for the items and there will be limited quantities for everything in the Target ad.
If you're one of the people that still buys physical copies of your movies and TV series, then this sale will be right up your alley. Target has plenty of new and old DVDs, Blu-rays, and 4K discs on sale for $4 and $9 as part of the doorbusters promotion. Please don't take the term "doorbuster" literally though. That's destruction of property and totally illegal. Out of all these doorbuster sales, you'll probably want to pick up Spider-Man: Homecoming on 4K for $9 or Lego Batman on Blu-ray for $4.
If you're looking for TV series to binge through, Target has full seasons on sale for $10. For Blu-ray, you can pick up Season 8 of The Walking Dead or Season 3 of Rick and Morty. On DVD, seasons of Game of Thrones, The Flash, and Westworld are all on sale for $10 as well.
Check out the full list of Target's sales on movies and TV series below. More may be added to the Black Friday list, so we'll keep you updated if there are any changes.
November has begun, and that means it's almost time to spend the day gorging yourself on turkey, making sure to avoid the family you're forced to hang out with. What better way to avoid forced conversation than sitting around the television, watching Netflix, together? Netflix has revealed what is coming to its service for the full month of November 2018, as well as what is leaving the subscription service. You can also check out the video above for some recommendations.
Kicking off the month, Netflix brought a slew of movies on Thursday, November 1. If you haven't seen it yet, you'll need to watch From Dusk Till Dawn. The 1996 action/horror film is by Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino and follows two criminals on the run who take a family in an RV hostage. They all end up at a strip club in Mexico that's filled with vampires. Also now on the service is Cape Fear, Marvel's Doctor Strange, and Sixteen Candles.
If Netflix's originals are more up your alley, then you're in luck, as there are 46 movies and series coming in November. Most notable is the return of House of Cards, for Season 6, which will be its final season. This time around, Kevin Spacey won't be involved after sexual abuse allegations came out against the House of Cards star. The final season will follow Claire Underwood (Robin Wright) as the President of the United States, which was revealed in the first trailer.
There are plenty of other original series to get excited about as well. Mystery Science Theater 3000 returns for another season to make fun of some terrible, old movies, coming November 22. Also, She-Ra--He-Man's superpowered cousin--is getting a fun and bubbly reboot on November 16. Along with a new collection of The Great British Baking Show on November 9, you'll have a ton to watch.
The full the list for Netflix is below, and make sure to check out what's coming to Hulu and Amazon for the month of November as well.

Square Enix has released a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts III, offering us another look at the Kingdom of Corona, a world based on Disney's Tangled. In the video, which you can watch above, Sora, Donald, and Goofy stumble upon the tower where Rapunzel is being held and help set her free. But before long the newly liberated princess finds herself face to face with a monster.
Flynn Rider is also there, but quickly opts to take a backseat in battles, saying that he can get Rapunzel back to the kingdom but will need Sora and his companions to handle combat, which they have quite a bit of experience with at this point. The quick gameplay showcase also provides another look the traversal ability Rapunzel has, which involves swinging using her hair.
Much of the celebrity voice talent that was attached to the Disney universes featured in Kingdom Hearts III are reprising their roles, as are key performers from previous Kingdom Hearts titles. Haley Joel Osment returns to voice Sora, while Zachary Levi will return as Flynn Rider and Donna Murphy will once again be Mother Gothel. For Frozen, Idina Menzel is voicing Elsa, Kristen Bell is Anna, Josh Gad is Olaf, and Jonathan Groff is Kristoff.
John Ratzenberger and Wallace Shawn will feature as Hamm and Rex from Toy Story, while Tate Donovan is back as Hercules from Hercules, and Kevin R. McNally as Gibbs from The Pirates of the Caribbean. Tony Anselmo and Bill Farmer, who have served as the official voices of Donald Duck and Goofy for over than 30 years each, will also reprise their roles.
Utada Hikaru, who has provided the vocal theme for previous mainline Kingdom Hearts titles, will once again lend her voice for the third game. This time, however, the soundtrack will also feature a collaborative track made with Skrillex. Kingdom Hearts 3 is set to release on January 29, 2019 on Xbox One and PS4.
It's shocking the amount of stuff you can find in Red Dead Redemption 2. Heck, the Stranger missions, Legendary animals, and camp side-activities were already enough as it is. But it seems another major discovery has been made, and it's not what you'd expect. UFOs were one thing, but this is another entirely.
To keep you from getting spoiled, we're going to be vague with the details of this discovery. It's really worth seeing it through the end so you can experience it yourself. The objective of this mission is quite simple: find five mysterious writings scattered across Saint Denis. Once you've found all those, you'll get a map that points you to an alleyway near the church in town. However, in order to trigger the event properly, you need to visit at night. If you really want to know what it is, hover your mouse over the text below:
You find five mysterious writings that inevitably lead you to finding an actual vampire. Seriously. A vampire!
Below we detail the locations of all five mysterious writings, as well as provide directions on how to get to the alleyway by the Saint Denis church. You can find the writings in any order, but for the sake of clarity, we've numbered them to make it easier to follow. Massive props to Luke Lawrie of Stevivor, who deserves all the credit for being able to discern these clues and find them all across town. With bizarre stuff like this, it seems there's no shortage of secrets tucked away in Red Dead Redemption 2, so if you've discovered something crazy, be sure to let us know about it in the comments below.
Clue 1
The first clue is located on the building just above the second "N" in "Saint Denis" on the map. You'll see it written on the wall of a red building with white doors.
Clue 2
The second clue is near the Saint Denis market place where the local Fence and Trapper are. It's tucked away in an alleyway behind a gate where there are some neatly stacked barrels.
Clue 3
The third clue is located by the Butcher and General Store on the southwestern side of town. It's on the other side of the shops, tucked away under an overhang.
Clue 4
The fourth clue is found directly north of the post office, tucked away in a corridor. Look to the shot above to chart a path to its locations.
Clue 5
The final clue is found on another wall of the building the previous clue was written on. Simply head up north to get to it, but you'll likely have to run around the building to reach it. This building complex is a bit of a labyrinth but stick with it and you'll find it eventually.
The Big Reveal
As stated above, you'll get a map once you've gathered all the clues. It's a tad vague in the direction it's trying to point you, but it's ultimately trying to get you to go to a secluded alleyway to the west of the General Store and Butcher. However, the special event won't trigger until nighttime, so be sure to advance time at the local saloon. Once it's night, head to the alleyway and prepare yourself for a bizarre event that defies expectations.
Nintendo's recent November Direct is the last confirmed pre-release showcase of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate prior to the game's launch. The video revealed the final new characters included in the base game of Ultimate, while also detailing the new story mode, extra features, and post-launch content.
Our full coverage of the Direct and everything announced is listed out below. Ultimate is the fifth mainline game in the Super Smash Bros. franchise, incorporating every character seen in the series to date and adding a few more. Although most of the tried-and-true Super Smash Bros. formula returns in this most recent installment, Ultimate does make a few changes. Stage selection now occurs before players pick their fighters, for example. Also, certain characters, like Dark Pit and Daisy, have been made into Echo Fighters--meaning they're basically a reskin of another character, but certain attributes like speed or attack damage have been slightly tweaked.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches on December 7 for Nintendo Switch. The game also has an Ultimate Special edition--comes with a steelbook case and Super Smash Bros. styled Switch Pro controller--that's available for pre-order. New Amiibo figures are also on the way.
Final Two New Launch Characters
During the Direct, Nintendo announced the final two fighters that will be in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at launch--Ken and Incineroar. This finalizes Ultimate's starting roster of playable characters at 74.
Ken is an Echo Fighter of his Street Fighter rival Ryu. His default appearance is his Super Street Fighter II Turbo look. Although his attacks are similar to Ryu, Ken is a bit faster, has a different shaped Hadoken, and uses two different Final Smashes.
Incineroar is the final evolution of Pokemon Sun / Moon's fire starter, Litten. In Pokemon, Incineroar is a fire and dark type, but its appearance is based off that of a wrestler. As such, in Ultimate, Incineroar attacks with a flurry of powerful punches and throws, which are either bathed in flame or dark energy. Its Final Smash, Max Malicious Moonsault, is a variation of its Z-move from Pokemon Sun / Moon.
Story Mode
Ultimate's story mode is called World of Light. It's played similarly to a board game, where landing on certain spaces sparks an event that transports you to another area or into a battle. World of Light begins with the entire roster of fighters going into battle against a new, unknown threat. However, every fighter--except for Kirby--is easily defeated. Now on his own, Kirby has to track down and save his friends so the fight can be taken up once again. The story incorporates spoken dialogue and an anime-like soundtrack.
Spirits Mode
Spirits mode is a new addition to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The mode allows players to equip unique "Spirits" to enhance their chosen fighters.
Each fighter can equip one Primary Spirit to increase specific stats. Support Spirits can be assigned to Primary ones to account for any weaknesses. Each Spirit comes in one of four rarities--Novice, Advanced, Aces, and Legend--and are one of three types--Attack, Grab, and Shield. Attack Spirits are best against Grab, while Grab defeats Shield, and Shield trumps Attack. You can see all the Spirits we saw in our full list.
Post-Launch Character
Nintendo also announced the first post-launch fighter to come to Ultimate. Piranha Plant will be available for download around February 2019. The character is free, and downloads automatically if you choose to buy the digital version of Ultimate prior to January 31. If you buy the physical version, then you'll need to register online by January 31 and go into My Nintendo Rewards to get the character for free.
Additional DLC
Nintendo has promised more fighters, stages, and music tracks will be made available as post-launch DLC. There are five packs currently scheduled, each one including one fighter, one stage, and a few musical tracks. Each pack will cost $6 USD, but a $25 USD Fighters Pass can also be bought that bundles everything together.
The Fighters Pass will also include an outfit based on Rex--from Xenoblade Chronicles 2--for your Mii fighters. Nintendo is still developing all of the fighters included in the Fighters Pass, so players can expect each DLC pack to trickle out throughout 2019. Piranha Plant is not a part of any of the five DLC packs or the Fighters Pass, but it will eventually be sold as DLC if you don't download it while it's free.
Fortnite has opened up a new set of limited-time challenges in honor of everyone's favorite sentient otherworldly cube. Your reward for completing the event is a Kevin the Cube to call your own, nicknamed Lil' Kev, as a new piece of back bling.
The event takes place in two phases. First, you have to log on anytime before 1 PM ET on November 5 to unlock the Lil' Kev challenge pack. That will unlock a set of three challenges, which themselves are pretty simple. You'll have until November 11 at 1 PM ET to finish them to earn the back bling.
Unlike Fortnite's weekly challenges, which are usually catered toward some specific seasonal content, these challenges will be naturally obtained if you play some Fortnite over the coming week. You'll get completion simply by playing matches, earning XP, and outliving opponents.
If you're still looking to complete this season's Battle Pass and earn your Season 6 rewards, check out our challenges guide. You can tote a new weapon into battle soon, since Epic has been teasing the addition of a new heavy assault rifle to the game that could drop any time. And if you're a Kevin fan that somehow missed the big world event over the weekend, check out our recap. The cube has been busy making all sorts of weirdness happen in the world.
With the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate only a few weeks away, Nintendo has unleashed a lot of new info to both entice nostalgic Nintendo fans and to provide them with concrete details about the game's more technical details. These include info on how online matchmaking and local multiplayer will function, and how they differ from previous Smash Bros. games.
The most notable change being introduced to Smash' online structure is the abolition of the "For Fun" and "For Glory" options. Rather that choosing to opt in or out of a binary casual/competitive system, you will instead choose whether to search for opponents who reflect a configuration profile of your choosing, dictating options such as the use of items. Alternatively, you can opt to matchmake with players regardless of their preferences.
Beyond the type of battles you can search for, you will also be able to configure how Nintendo's servers pair you up with other players, either by Global Smash Power (tied to an online leaderboard) or by geographical proximity.
Players will be able to jump into the online matchmaking manually, fight after fight, or they will be able to activate background matchmaking. This will allow you to play most of the game's modes in between fights while you're waiting for a new battle begin. Finally, if you've got a friend with you in the same room, you can fight other pairs of friends online as team, rather than as individual fighters.
Communication with other players online will be possible in two ways. The first is through the use of Nintendo's Switch Online smartphone app--this is the only official way to play with voice chat. Alternatively, players can use a pre-selected assortment of stock messages to send emotes and other brief signals to the competition. Players will also have the option to customize online profiles, known as a Smash Tag, to show off their various accomplishments and rewards from the game at large.
Once a player has proven themselves to be a capable online competitor, they will be granted access to exclusive in-game battles against elite opponents. These are reserved for the "best of the best," according to Nintendo--there are no other specifics regarding qualification for these "VIP" matches.
Online details are just a piece of the overall puzzle revealed today during the new Nintendo Direct. To stay up to date, check out the following stories to find the latest on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate:
With Diablo III now available on Nintendo Switch (coinciding with BlizzCon 2018), Blizzard has revealed another notable piece of news for Nintendo fans. Diablo is getting its very first Amiibo figure, and odds are, it's probably not any of the characters you would guess.
As Blizzard shared on Twitter, the figure is not Diablo himself, nor any off the other Prime Evils. It's also not Tyrael, Malthael, Deckard Cain, or any of the playable classes. Instead, it's the mischievous loot goblin who gets the Amiibo treatment. (Separately, we're also getting some new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Amiibo figures.)
The loot goblin Amiibo launches sometime in December; a specific release date wasn't shared, but a listing for $16 on GameStop's website is live and lists it as an exclusive. But it's notable for featuring a unique design, both in terms of the figure itself and the box. The box looks more like a Funko Pop than the standard Amiibo packaging we're accustomed to, while the figure has a cartoonish look. It actually appears to be the same design as an earlier Cute But Deadly figurine.
The figure's exact function in the Switch game isn't detailed, but Blizzard teases that you may be able to use it to access The Vault, a secret treasure goblin area filled with loot.
While certainly not imposing foes or significant characters in the lore, loot goblins do embody the loot chase that makes Diablo so enjoyable. Treasure goblins are a type of enemy you can happen upon in Diablo III. When first attacked, these will begin to run away, but as you continue hitting them, they drop various loot--gold, gems, blood shards, weapons, armor--depending on what type they are. It's a real treat, but also an intense race to ensure you kill it and earn the maximum lot before it can summon a portal and jump through.
Diablo III's launch on Switch represents a great new way to play the game, even if it does lose some of the visual fidelity of the PC version. You can read all about what to expect in our Diablo III Switch review.
Rockstar Game's latest release, Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 and Xbox One, is a game where you'll want to spend a great deal of time uncovering all of its secrets and details. You can spend 50-plus hours just completing the main story, slowing accumulating wealth and honor. But if you're someone looking for a shortcut--who wants to find a quick path to success while living the life of an outlaw in the last days of the wild west--we've got you covered. Much like the original game and GTA V, Red Dead 2 features an assortment of cheat codes that unlock additional resources, with some injecting odd gimmicks and quirks into your game.
To find the Cheats menu, press the pause button and select the Settings option. In this menu, press Triangle or Y (on PS4 and Xbox One, respectively) to pull up the Cheats menu. From here, you'll find a long list of locked cheats. Initially, you won't know what any of these do or how to unlock them. Many of these codes can be activated by putting in the correct phrase, but others will require some extra time and effort.
In addition to finding passwords while exploring the world, some of which are written into the ground, throughout the game you'll find newspapers for sale in towns, and some of these offer clues as to how to unlock these extra fun options. More newspapers will become available after completing main missions, which you'll see detailed in news articles. While many of these cheats introduce some mostly benign bits of fun--such as keeping your character, Arthur Morgan, perpetually drunk--activating these codes at any time will have some consequences for your save game. Once you activate these codes, all Trophies and Achievements will be deactivated on this particular file. As a result, before trying any of these codes, be sure to make a separate file for your main save.
With over 30 codes to unlock, some of which have some specific requirements, we've collected a list of cheats that we've uncovered thus far. We also have a separate feature discussing some of the most entertaining and best cheats in Red Dead Redemption 2. Be sure to check back with GameSpot as we update this page with new codes, and how to find them.

Red Dead 2 is now available on PS4 and Xbox One. If you want to hear more of our thoughts on Rockstar's expansive open-world western, check out our full Red Dead 2 review. We've got much more in store for the game in the coming weeks, which includes our new recurring series QuickDraw. For now, take a look at our round-up of fascinating and interesting facts the game doesn't outright tell players, and along with other useful tips you should know.
The Warcraft series might be best known for the MMORPG World of Warcraft, but its roots are in the real-time strategy genre. While WoW might remain Blizzard's focus, the company is extending an olive branch to fans of the franchise who yearn for the RTS days. As part of the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony, Blizzard revealed it's remastering Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.
The new project is called Warcraft 3: Reforged. A cinematic video shows a Horde and Alliance unit feuding when meteors begin crashing down, bringing new enemies down. The game launches next year but will be playable at BlizzCon for attendees.
We also got a brief look at gameplay shots, showing much-improved graphics over the original version. The video boasts that it features fully remodeled characters and animations, remastered maps and campaigns, an upgraded UI and world editor, and 4K support.
A special edition, known as the Spoils of War edition, is now available for per-order. Buying it will entitle you to content in other Blizzard games, including Diablo III, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and WoW (where you'll get a meat wagon pet).
Warcraft 3 is the most recent RTS in the series. It was originally released all the way back in 2002, two years before the debut of WoW, which would go on to become massively successful. 2003 saw the release of the Frozen Throne expansion. Outside of WoW, Warcraft has gotten some love with its strong presence in Heroes of the Storm, but it's otherwise been a disappointing stretch for fans of the series' origins.
Blizzard hasn't abandoned the RTS genre entirely, as StarCraft 2 debuted in 2010 and has continued to be expanded in the years since. But this remaster represents the company's first return to Warcraft RTS gameplay (save for some dabbling in WoW) in over 15 years.
Nintendo is releasing a new line of Amiibo for each of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's new and returning characters. We've already gotten a look at figures of Wolf, Ridley, and Inkling, and during the final Super Smash Bros. Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed another handful of Amiibo and when they'll arrive.
The aforementioned Wolf, Ridley, and Inkling figures are launching alongside the game on December 7. King K. Rool and Ice Climbers Amiibo will follow next year on February 15, while figures of Young Link, Daisy, Pichu, and newcomers Isabelle and Ken will all release sometime in 2019.
On top of those Amiibo, Nintendo announced it will release a figure of the surprise DLC character Piranha Plant, which game director Masahiro Sakura says has a "nice curved form to it." The Piranha Plant Amiibo is likewise launching on February 15, while the character itself is slated to join the game "around" February.
In addition to the new figures, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be compatible with all existing Smash Bros. Amiibo. A number of these figures will be re-released near the game's launch. However, as before, some will only be available at certain retailers. The reprinted Pac-Man Amiibo, for example, is exclusive to Best Buy stores.
Smash Bros. isn't the only upcoming Switch game to receive Amiibo. Blizzard also announced a Loot Goblin Amiibo figure for Diablo III: Eternal Edition. This figure is notable for having a unique design and packaging than other Amiibo, and it's available exclusively at GameStop.
We're another week into Season 6 of Fortnite, which means a new set of challenges is now available to complete on your platform of choice, whether that be PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, or mobile. As usual, Week 6's challenges are broken up into two categories--Free and Battle Pass--and consist of some fairly straightforward tasks. However, there is one that may give you a bit of trouble if you don't know where to look, so we've put together this handy guide on finding the sheet music and pianos in Pleasant Park.
One of the Hard-level challenges for Battle Pass owners in Week 6 is to find sheet music in Pleasant Park. This itself is simple enough; you'll see a stand with the sheet music in one of the houses in the area, and you'll need to collect it to unlock the next step of this four-stage challenge. Once you've found the sheet music, you'll need to play it on two giant piano keyboards scattered around the island.
You won't need to travel very far to make it to the first piano; it can be found on the hill just to the west of Pleasant Park, fairly close to where the sheet music was located. Once you've made it to the piano, you'll need to jump on the keys in the right order to move on to the next step. Fortunately, you'll see a stand with the sheet music near the keyboard, so all you need to do is follow the order written on it to complete this step. However, you'll need to be alone in the area before you can play the music, as other players who also try to use the same piano will interrupt your progress.
Once you've completed this step, you'll be tasked with collecting another piece of sheet music, this one located in a building in Retail Row. After you've found it, you'll need to head just east of the area to find the second piano. Just as before, play the keys in the right order and you'll complete the challenge. For a closer look at exactly where you need to go, you can watch us complete the challenge in the video at the top of this guide.
With that done, you'll be one step closer to unlocking the new Season 6 cosmetics and rewards. The other challenges from Week 6 are all fairly straightforward. Most require you to either eliminate opponents with a particular weapon or place the new Chiller trap in different matches, all of which can be accomplished with a little persistence. You can see the full list of Week 6 challenges below. For tips on previous missions, be sure to check out our complete Fortnite Season 6 challenge roundup.

Blizzard's annual fan convention, BlizzCon 2018, took place this past weekend. Friday brought with it the opening ceremony, which effectively serves as a press conference for the company where it tends to make many of its big announcements for the year. The ceremony started out with a heartwarming moment as former Blizzard president Mike Morhaime, a fixture of these events, spoke to the crowd before handing things off to his successor, J Allen Brack.
Below, we've also rounded up all of the major news Blizzard has shared. This included a new Diablo game for mobile, WoW Classic news, the next Hearthstone expansion, and much more.
New Heroes Of The Storm Character
Heroes of the Storm is expanding with a wide variety of content, much of which is coming in 2019. But most notable among the game's BlizzCon reveals was that of a new character, Orphea. Significantly, she is an original character for HotS--the very first one to be designed for the game, rather than being imported from another of Blizzard's franchises.
Destiny 2 Goes Free On PC (For Now)
Just prior to the opening ceremony, Activision announced that Destiny 2 on PC--which is available through Blizzard's Battle.net client--is now free to download. This isn't a permanent change, but if you claim it before it returns to its regular price, you can keep it permanently. You'll need to buy the Forsaken DLC to make the most of it, but it's still a nice freebie.
Lúcio-Ohs
During the pre-opening ceremony segment, Blizzard confirmed it is indeed set to release a breakfast cereal based on Overwatch in partnership with Kellogg's. It plays on a joke from the game itself and is called Lucio-Ohs. You can get a look at it in the video below.
WoW Classic Release
World of Warcraft Classic is playable for BlizzCon attendees, and a demo is on the way for Virtual Ticket holders. For everyone else, WoW Classic will release in Summer 2019. It'll be available with a standard WoW subscription.
New WoW Cinematic
The Horde-Alliance feud has seen some real twists and turns of late, and that will only continue going forward. Blizzard revealed a brand-new WoW cinematic that sees a new partnership being forged; check it out above.
New Overwatch Animated Short And Character -- Hero 29, Ashe
Following an entertaining talk with Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan, the game's newest animated short premiered. "Reunion" centered around McCree and a new rival of his named Ashe (who's accompanied by a large robot named Bob who wears a tiny hat). It culminates in McCree rescuing a female robotic character named Echo to whom he says, "Welcome back, partner." It seems as if her, Ashe, and Bob could all be new characters, which Kaplan acknowledged afterward. Sure enough, Ashe was confirmed as Hero 29, with Bob functioning as her Ultimate.
Ashe's Abilities, Play Style, And History Detailed
Following the BlizzCon 2018 opening ceremony, Blizzard held the Overwatch: What's Next panel and went into detail about the character, specifically her story, the design ethos behind her creation, and how she plays. From what we've seen so far, the leader of the Deadlock gang will mix up the existing rhythms of gameplay in a big way. Here's all the details you need on Ashe.
Warcraft 3: Reforged
Blizzard has revealed its next remaster project, and it's the last Warcraft RTS. Warcraft 3: Reforged is a remaster of Reign of Chaos, featuring improved graphics, a revamped UI, 4K support, and more.
Hearthstone Expansion Rastakhan's Rumble Announced
The next Hearthstone expansion has been revealed as Rastakhan's Rumble. It includes a new keyword, Overkill, and introduces a wide variety of new cards.
Diablo Immortal
Rather than new content for Diablo III or another port of the game, Blizzard's news for the franchise involved a totally new game for mobile called Diablo Immortal. It features the same style of gameplay the series is known for, but adapted for mobile.
StarCraft 2 Gets New Co-Op Commander
StarCraft II is adding yet another co-op commander: Zeratul. We don't know much about him yet, but Blizzard says that "by collecting powerful artifacts, Zeratul unlocks powerful new capabilities and the ability to customize his global top bar abilities."
Pokemon Go's third annual Halloween event has recently ended, and it brought a handful of new Ghost- and Dark-type Pokemon to catch--including another Legendary Pokemon. For a limited time, you'll be able to encounter the cover monster from Pokemon Platinum, Giratina, as a Raid Battle at Gyms, making it the first Gen 4 Legendary to arrive in Pokemon Go.
While the Halloween event concluded on November 1, Giratina will be available in Raid Battles until November 20. This likely won't be the last time it appears; Niantic frequently reintroduces previous Legendaries to the game, although that typically isn't until some time after their initial run, so you'll want to add a Giratina to your collection soon while you still have the opportunity. Here are some tips for catching one.
Battling Giratina
Like most of the other Legendary Pokemon to appear in Pokemon Go, Giratina will occasionally spawn as a Raid Battle at Gyms. In order to catch one, you'll first need to travel to a Gym where a Giratina Raid is taking place and battle it. Giratina is a tough opponent to bring down, however, so you'll need to team up with other players in real life if you hope to defeat it. If you've hit Pokemon Go's level cap of 40, you should be able to bring Giratina down with a team of 6-8 players, although the more players you have around, the better your chances of success are.
Giratina is a dual Ghost/Dragon Pokemon, which is a unique combination due to the fact each of those types is weak against itself in battle. Dragon Pokemon in particular fare very well against Giratina, so you'll want to bring monsters like Dragonite, Salamence, and Rayquaza along if you've managed to obtain any of them. Gengar and other Ghost Pokemon are also effective, although their typing and generally frail defenses make them susceptible to Giratina's attacks as well.
Outside of those choices, Dark-type Pokemon are likewise effective against Giratina, particularly if the one you encounter during the Raid knows Ghost attacks, which Dark Pokemon resist. Tyranitar, Absol, and Houndoom in particular will fare well against it. Mewtwo is a great choice to bring along as well if it knows Shadow Ball, and Pokemon with Ice or Fairy attacks are a decent alternative.
Catching Giratina
If you've managed to successfully defeat Giratina, you'll be rewarded with a ton of XP, Stardust, and items. You'll also receive a handful of Premier Balls, the only type of Poke Ball you can use to catch Legendaries. The number of Premier Balls you receive will vary depending on which Pokemon you use and if you battled it alongside your friends.
Much like Mewtwo, Giratina will be standing fairly far in the distance when you're trying to capture it. It will also attack often, so you'll need to time your throws very carefully. To maximize your chances of catching one, use a Golden Razz Berry before each throw. Giratina is slated to leave Raid Battles at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET on November 20, so good luck!
Pokemon fans now have a chance to get their hands on November's free Legendary Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, but those aren't the only rare monsters up for grabs this month. To commemorate the release of the Lost Thunder expansion for Pokemon TCG, The Pokemon Company is also giving away a rare Mythical Pokemon for the 3DS games: the Thunderclap Pokemon Zeraora. [Update: The Zeraora distribution is set to end this Friday, November 9, giving you only a few more days to pick up a free download code for the Mythical Pokemon.]
First revealed this past April, Zeraora is a fast, cat-like Electric-type monster debuting in the latest Pokemon movie, The Power of Us. This marks the first opportunity players will have to get their hands on one; like other Mythical Pokemon, Zeraora isn't obtainable within the actual games, so you'll want to add one to your collection while you can.
As usual, the way you'll be able to get Zeraora depends on where you live. In the US, players can pick up a download code for the Mythical Pokemon at GameStop stores from October 19 to November 9; in the UK, The Pokemon Company is distributing codes for Zeraora at Game stores from October 1 to November 15.
Unlike most of the other free Pokemon given out this year, you can only redeem the Zeraora code in either Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Regardless of which version you claim it in, the Pokemon comes at level 50 and is equipped with an Air Balloon, an item that negates Ground-type attacks until it is popped. It also knows the moves Plasma Fists, Thunder Punch, Close Combat, and Thunder.
To redeem your download code, first select Mystery Gift from the games' main menu, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Input your code and Zeraora will be downloaded into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.
In addition to Zeraora, The Pokemon Company is giving away two Legendary Pokemon originally from the Gold and Silver versions this month: Lugia and Ho-Oh. The pair will be available in the US via a download code, this one from GameStop stores. You can see all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon available right now.
Since February, The Pokemon Company has been giving away a new Legendary Pokemon for free every month as part of its massive Year of Legendary Pokemon campaign. We've now reached the final month of the promotion, and for the last giveaway, The Pokemon Company has saved two Legendaries from the classic Gold and Silver versions: Lugia and Ho-Oh.
For a limited time, you'll be able to get one of the Johto Legendaries in any of the seventh-generation Pokemon games on 3DS, but the way to claim them differs depending on where you live. Those in the US will, once again, need to visit a certain retailer to pick up a download code for the Pokemon; this time, the code will be available at GameStop from November 2-25. UK residents, meanwhile, will need to go to a participating Game store to pick up a code, while those in Canada can get one from EB Games.
As before, which Legendary you receive depends on which version you own; those with Sun or Ultra Sun will get Lugia, while players with Moon or Ultra Moon will get Ho-Oh. The Pokemon will also come equipped with a Gold Bottle Cap in the Ultra games, have a higher level, and know different movesets. You can see the full details below.

Once you've picked up a download code for the Legendaries, you'll need to redeem it using the Mystery Gift feature from the games' main menu. Select that, then choose the option to receive your gift via a code/password. Connect to the internet when prompted and input the download code; your Legendary will then be downloaded into your game. You'll then need to pick it up from the deliveryman waiting inside any Pokemon Center.
While you're at GameStop, you also still have a chance to pick up a free download code for the new Mythical Pokemon Zeraora, which is starring alongside Lugia in the latest Pokemon animated film, The Power of Us. The Zeraora distribution is scheduled to end on November 9. You can see all the other Pokemon giveaways going on now in our roundup of all the free Pokemon for Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
