It appears that Telltale Games is gearing up to announce something during San Diego Comic-Con, and it might be a new Batman series.
The studio recently said on Twitter that it'll have news to announce this week at SDCC. However, Telltale has revealed nothing else about what it might be. Some speculated that it could be a new The Wolf Among Us series, given that one of its actors retweeted Telltale's tease.
However, the Film and Labeling Body of New Zealand posted a rating today for a video game called Batman: The Enemy Within. It lists Telltale Games' Kent Mudle as its director. Mudle previously worked on an episode of The Walking Dead: Michonne as well as Telltale's Game of Thrones series.
If The Enemy Within is real, it would be the second Batman series that Telltale has created. The first consisted of five episodes, the last of which launched in December 2016. We've also known that Telltale's been working on new things for some time; at E3 2017, Telltale's head of communications, Job Stauffer, told GameSpot that the studio would announce "a handful of things" this summer.
Of course, ratings on labeling boards should never be taken as fact, and Telltale may announce a different series this week and Batman at a later date. It is, after all, capable of working on four series at once.
Although Splatoon 2, like its predecessor, provides a more friendly style of gameplay than your standard third-person shooter, that doesn't mean the online experience is devoid of frustrated players. Rage-quitting happens as it does in any online game, and this weekend's Splatfest event provided an opportunity to see how Splatoon 2 handles such players.
As shown in the image below shared by Twitter user hypwnotic, the game presents you with a distinctly Nintendo-style message that's vaguely reminiscent of Animal Crossing's Mr. Resetti. While it doesn't force you to write a message to other players apologizing, it does warn that repeated disconnects will result in a temporary ban.
"Your previous online play session didn't end naturally, which is PREEEEETY suspicious," the message reads. "If this keeps happening, we're gonna have to block you from playing online for a while. Make sure your Internet isn't busted and try again."
According to hypwnotic, this message showed up following their fourth disconnect, which allegedly stemmed from an issue where they unintentionally ended up playing on a Wi-Fi connection. It's unclear how long the prospective ban would last or what the exact conditions are that precipitate one being handed out. Based on the language, you'd still be free to play the game's single-player, which is detailed in the video above.
Splatoon 2 launches for Switch this Friday, July 21. Look for GameSpot's review prior to then.
Because other companies own the rights to some of Marvel's properties, characters from all across the Marvel universe have been featured in twice as many films as DC. Developer Studio Wildcard has shared some news today regarding its popular dinosaur game Ark: Survival Evolved. While the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions will see new updates rolling out this week, one thing that won't be coming to consoles quite yet is the Ragnarok map, which the developer revealed has been delayed.
Wildcard explained the reason behind the map's delay in a post on the Ark forums. According to the post, the studio has been hard at work the past few weeks getting the game ready to submit for its retail disc certification. However, because the process took longer than Wildcard anticipated, the developer will not be able to meet Ragnarok's July 19 release date. A new release date, as well as an overview of Wildcard's plans for the game for the next month, will be announced on Wednesday.
In the meantime, updates for the PS4 and Xbox One versions are slated to arrive this week. The latter's 759.2 patch has been submitted to Microsoft today, though it's a fairly minor one that primarily addresses some known issues in that version. In particular, the patch fixes the Ark data folder toggle and "LB+Button" combo issues, as well as an issue where no dinosaur AI would appear on PvE and ORP servers. Full patch notes will be released once the update rolls out. A PS4 update will follow later this week, and this one will be rather sizable, making major improvements to dashboarding. Wildcard expects the PS4 update to go live between Wednesday and Friday.
A new PC build is slated to roll out today, which Wildcard says will be close to its "near-submission build for console." The developer hopes to get fan feedback regarding the single-player experience before the physical version is released. In particular, this version makes "a lot of adjustments to the bosses" as well as how the game is played in single-player.
Ark: Survival Evolved has been available via Early Access for two years. The game is getting a physical release on August 8 and will retail for $60. That is also true for the Steam version, which doubled in price recently to match that of the upcoming physical release. In addition to the standard edition, Ark will be released in an Explorer's Edition, which includes a season pass for $100, and a Limited Collector's Edition that comes with a number of physical extras for $160. For the latest news on Ark: Survival Evolved, be sure to check out our complete game coverage.
Windjammers, the classic Neo Geo disc-throwing game, is coming back in remastered form for PS4 and Vita, and today it got a release date. Developer DotEmu has announced that Windjammers will be available on August 29.
Alongside the release date announcement, DotEmu published a video that shows off the different playable characters in the game. There are six characters in total, and each has different strengths and weaknesses. You can watch it above.
The remaster includes several improvements over the original. It retains the classic art style, but it has received a boost in graphical fidelity. In addition, the new version includes online multiplayer, five game modes, and competitive leagues.
The remaster had a closed beta last month, and DotEmu has tweaked and changed the game based on the feedback from players. "Thanks to you, the community, we received tons of feedback regarding bugs and issues, and also the ergonomy, menus, and matchmaking system," the developer stated in a PlayStation Blog post. "You also provided many useful ideas regarding the general gaming experience. Most importantly, your comments confirmed that we'd captured the fun, immersive experience of the original."
DotEmu also announced today a lineup of official Windjammers merchandise. This includes '90s-style shirts, a hat, and a lapel pin, as well as a Windjammers-branded Frisbee. You can see the items in the gallery below, and you can buy them here when they go on sale on August 29.
Replacement director Ron Howard has been a lot more open since he took over, posting a steady stream of on-set images. While they haven't revealed much, his latest does feature a very familiar Star Wars character checking out a video monitor. Check it out below:
In addition, some eagle-eyed fans have speculated that the image on screen is of two Wookiees getting close to each other. Click here for a zoomed-in version.
Chewbacca is played by Joonas Suotamo in the upcoming movie. Suotamo already played Chewie in 2015's The Force Awakens, standing in for longtime actor Peter Mayhew during action scenes.
The film also stars Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and Michael Kenneth Williams. TMZ caught up with Disney CEO Bob Iger recently, and he didn't say one way or the other if the movie will be delayed as a result of the directorial changes. Officially, the Han Solo film is scheduled to come out on May 25, 2018.
The next Star Wars movie is The Last Jedi, which hits theaters in December. A behind-the-scenes promo and series of stylish new posters were revealed at the annual D23 convention this weekend.

Since its release late last month, Crash Bandicoot fans have noticed that the N. Sane Trilogy--which packages together remastered versions of the first three Crash games--handles differently than the originals, sometimes even making them more difficult. Indeed, this isn't merely the case of foggy memories after two decades, as the changes stem from design decisions on the part of the collection's developer.
Unlike the original games, which were developed by Naughty Dog, N. Sane Trilogy was handled by Vicarious Visions. The studio has now responded to feedback concerning some of the perceived changes, particularly the way Crash jumps. It states upfront that it deliberately made some alterations, explaining, "Our goal for the Trilogy was to reduce any points of frustration while preserving the challenge of the originals, and we feel we've done that."
Vicarious says it intended to provide a "cohesive experience across all three games," which resulted in the adjustments. "The reason for that is because we want the best experience for all players, and Crash's handling falls into this category," it explains. "We spent a lot of time studying the three titles and chose the handling from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped as our Trilogy's starting point; it represented the most improved and modern approach as it gives players the most control.
"We went through rounds of internal testing, user testing, and iterations to get each game's handling to just the right place. In the end, we ended up tuning jump differently for each game, so that the jump metrics are the same as the originals. However, there are a few subtle differences in Crash Bandicoot, chief among these being the fact that you fall more quickly upon release of the X button than you did in the original first game."
Another change involves Crash's interaction with platforms and enemies, which is due to the use of a new collision system. "[C]ombined with the addition of physics, certain jumps require more precision than the originals," Vicarious explains. "Much like the handling, we iterated on collision and physics throughout development to make it fair to all players and as faithful to the original games as possible."
Vicarious also discusses the changes to saves and checkpoints in the first game. This includes the addition of the dynamic difficulty system that wasn't originally incorporated until the second game, which helps players out after repeatedly failing to complete a level. Despite this, it acknowledges that the first game is challenging--so much so that it suggests that players consider starting with the later games first.
"An increased precision is now required in the first game, which makes the gameplay experience different," it says. "Particularly if you are a new player, you may want to start with the second and third games first, and then come back to try Crash Bandicoot after you've had more practice. For those of you who played the originals and acquired a fair amount of muscle memory, re-learning the handling in our game may present an additional challenge you weren't expecting. But we're sure you up to the task."
RuneScape, that MMO that you probably played in middle or high school, is still around, and developer Jagex announced today that it's coming to mobile devices. What's more, it'll support cross-play between mobile and PC.
Both RuneScape and Old-School RuneScape will be coming to mobile, with Old-School RuneScape launching this winter and RuneScape coming after that. They'll be fully cross-play compatible between PC and mobile--meaning that you'll be able to close the game on your PC and pick it up seamlessly on your phone, the developer stated in a press release. You can see some screenshots from the mobile versions below; the first four images are from Old-School RuneScape, while the last is from RuneScape.
"The RuneScape titles will become the first mainstream and established Western MMORPGs on mobile in full and the first to deliver cross-platform play between PC and mobile platforms," the developer claimed.
In case you haven't been following the game closely since its heyday in the mid-2000s, RuneScape is actually now two different games. RuneScape is the current iteration of the game that the developer has been working on since 2001. Old-School RuneScape, meanwhile, is based on the 2007 version of the game and was released in 2013; updates for the game are voted on by the player community.
Runescape continues to receive frequent support and content updates from Jagex. In the 16 years since its launch, the developer has created several expansions and released overhauls such as the "Runescape 3" update. It is free-to-play, but it also has an optional, paid subscription.

Square Enix is bringing the Final Fantasy arcade fighter, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, to PlayStation 4 next year, but some fans will have an opportunity to try the game before then. Today, the publisher announced it will be hosting a closed beta for the game ahead of its release, and players can begin registering for access to it.
While Square Enix hasn't revealed the exact date for when the closed beta will begin, the publisher says it will take place this summer, and more details regarding the event will be announced soon. Players who'd like a chance to participate can sign up now, but as with other closed betas, space is limited, so only a select number will be chosen. North and Latin American players can register for the closed beta here, while those in PAL regions can sign up here.
Dissidia Final Fantasy is a 3D fighting game series that features heroes, villains, and levels drawn from Final Fantasy's 30-year history. The first installment was released for PSP back in 2009 and was followed by a sequel in 2011. The upcoming PS4 iteration is a home console port of the arcade game that was released in Japan in 2015. This entry features a revamped three-versus-three team-based battle system, over 20 playable characters, and iconic Final Fantasy Summons that can be called into battle.
