The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's first DLC, entitled The Master Trials, is finally out, and it comes with a useful item known as the Travel Medallion, which allows you to create your own fast-travel point. This should come as good news for players who have been yearning for a quick and easy way to access a specific location that would be difficult to go back and forth from. While the game offers clues to help you find the Travel Medallion, you can head straight there if you're privy to where it's located.
The medallion is located in a treasure chest somewhere in Lomei Labyrinth Island. To find the chest more easily, use your Sheikah Sensor to track treasure chests and enable Magnesis to spot them.
Location: The chest is located in an underground cavern on Lomei Labyrinth Island. You'll need to jump down a shaft with an air current flowing upward through it. If you've completed the Tu Ka'loh Shrine, fast travel to it, and you'll find the shaft right in front of the shrine. The chest is along the southern wall of the cavern. The area is filled with Guardians both active and dormant, so be sure to pack Ancient Arrows or master the art of parrying before you enter.
To use the Travel Medallion, go to the location you'd like to set as your custom fast travel point, select the Medallion in your Key Items pouch, and choose "place."
Like other Dynasty Warriors-style collaborations, Fire Emblem Warriors features a roster of heroes drawn from different--and often unrelated--chapters in Fire Emblem's history. Today, Nintendo released a new trailer for the game that showcases some of the playable characters hailing from the series' first 3DS installment, Fire Emblem Awakening.
The new video focuses primarily on the Shepherds, the band of fighters led by Awakening's protagonist, Chrom. In the trailer, the group find themselves lost in an unfamiliar forest when they come across Rowan and Lianna, the original twin heroes of Fire Emblem Warriors. Along with the Ylissean prince, the trailer confirms that Frederick, Lissa, Robin, and Lucina all appear in the title. It also provides some hint as to how the characters will play; Lissa, for example, is seen wielding an axe, while Frederick can be spotted on horseback.
According to Koei Tecmo, Fire Emblem Warriors features more playable characters than the first installment of any Warriors collaboration. In addition to Awakening, the game's roster is taken primarily from Fire Emblem Fates and the DS remake of the first Fire Emblem title, Shadow Dragon. At E3 last month, Nintendo released a trailer that showcased several other heroes who will appear in the game: Marth, Xander, Ryoma, and Corrin. Like mainline Fire Emblem titles, Warriors employs the series' weapon triangle and features support conversations between characters.
For the uninitiated, Tingle was first introduced in The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. His outfit offers light protection overall with a low defense rating overall; however, the set bonus gives Link an increase in speed during the night, which allows him greater mobility.
Similar to the other armor sets, each piece is scattered across the world. While the Sheikah Slate offers you hints you of special books to help find each piece, you can head to straight to them if you know where each piece is. Here are the known locations for each piece of Tingle's Outfit, along with images of map and in-field locations.
Tingle's Hood
Location: Exchange Ruins - In the center of the area on the ground next to a Korok Seed.
Tingle's Shirt
Location: Castle Town Prison - On the island west of the castle, right next to the main road, buried in the ground in the center.
Tingle's Tights
Location: Mabe Village Ruins - Under a dead Guardian on the south end of the town in a puddle of water.
Gears of War 4's next big update has been detailed, and you won't have to wait long at all to check it out. The July update launches for free today.
The major addition in this patch are two new maps. Those who played the original Gears of War will recognize Raven Down, which centers around a crashed helicopter and close-range combat. The other is a modified version of Reclaimed called Reclaimed Windflare. Whether playing on this map in Versus or Horde mode, you'll occasionally encounter Windflares--the extreme storms that were previously only seen in Gears 4's campaign. These impact visibility and cause lightning strikes that can prove deadly.
You can check out both of these maps in the trailer above. Reclaimed appears to be mostly intact, but the Windflares do look like a factor that could dramatically impact how matches play out.
Developer The Coalition has also previewed some of the content coming later in the month. This includes an unspecified new Horde event and a 24/7 playlist for Raven Down that will span multiple game modes. Additionally, a new Gear Pack will introduce Superstar Cole and Civilian Anya, the latter of which will be craftable later this month.
Besides the new maps, today's update makes some other changes, primarily in the form of balance updates and bug fixes. You can see the full list of these below.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's first DLC pack, called The Master Trials, is finally out. Among a series of new outfits and items, it also includes The Trial of the Sword, a difficult quest that tasks you to endure 45 enemy-filled rooms with only the equipment you find within. If you complete the trial, you gain the ability to to use the Master Sword's power at all times without the consequence of it powering down.
The Trial of the Sword can be found in the Korok Forest, which you can only get to by overcoming the Lost Woods. To get there Lost Woods' entrance, follow the path through Mishi Woods located northeast of Hyrule castle, just before the Death Mountain region.
It's important to know that you can only start the Trials of the Sword once you've acquired the Master Sword, so make sure to grab that first. For more on the process, check out our in-depth guide on how to find the Master Sword.
Regardless, once you have the Master Sword, simply return it to the pedestal located in the center of the Korok Forest to initiate the challenge.
Destiny 2's first videos showed the Tower, the social space in the original Destiny, being wrecked by the Cabal. That doesn't mean players are without any equivalent area in the upcoming sequel, and in fact, Destiny 2's social space sounds even better.
The Farm is a shared space for up to 26 players to occupy simultaneously where they can visit vendors, socialize, and even partake in some sports. As shown off in the video below from IGN, among the ways to pass the time at the Farm is by playing a game of soccer. Much like the Tower, you can find a soccer ball that can be moved around, only this time there is an actual soccer field with goals that register when a player has scored.
Destiny 2 narrative lead Ryan Ebenger notes the the Farm will evolve as you play through the game. This includes some characters coming or going and the overall population increasing. It's unclear if these characters serve any function; presumably you'll always be able to reach a postmaster or Cryptarch (represented by Tyra Karn), both of which are present at the Farm.
Small activities can be scattered around the Farm, though none of these are demonstrated in the video. We do, however, see that there are chickens wandering around. So that's something.
The Evil Within 2 is the much-anticipated next game from Bethesda and Resident Evil creator Shinji Makami. Now Bethesda is showing off some more of the survival-horror action from the upcoming sequel to 2014's The Evil Within.
The game was demoed at E3 2017, where Bethesda showed off three in-game locations to demonstrate "a sliver of the horror that awaits Sebastian." The plot revolves around Sebastian's fight to save the daughter he thought he lost three years ago. Check out some of the gameplay in the gifs below, and watch our interview with the game's creators on how they're using the "secrets of survival-horror" to create a truly scary experience.
The original Evil Within was lauded for its striking atmosphere, tense combat, and as our reviewer Shaun McInnis said in his review, "a slow, sustained, and deeply pervasive sense of dread that sets your mind racing at crunch of glass beneath your feet and every distant groan from an unseen enemy." In 2016, Bethesda hinted The Evil Within did well enough commercially to warrant a sequel.
Rockstar and its parent company Take-Two have been embroiled in controversy among Grand Theft Auto V players recently when they attempted to shut down a popular modding tool for the open-world title. While the two companies have since eased up on their initial crackdown, their strict modding policy has resulted in another upcoming mod being shut down.
The group behind the popular Grand Theft Auto modding tool OpenIV announced in a post on the GTA forums that it has had to cease work on its "Liberty City in GTA V" mod. The project would have allowed players to import the GTA IV setting, Liberty City, into the series' most recent title. However, the group explained that the project was in violation of Rockstar's modding policy and as a result had to be shut down. While the group didn't elaborate what the mod specifically violated, it may be due to the fact Rockstar's policy expressly forbids the "importation of other IP (including Rockstar IP) in the project."
OpenIV suffered a similar fate last month when Take-Two issued a cease and desist order against the modding tool. According to the company, the reason the tool was targeted was because it "enables recent malicious mods that allow harassment of players and interfere with the GTA Online experience for everybody." Soon after, however, Rockstar intervened on the mod's behalf and convinced Take-Two to back off on its decision, allowing development on OpenIV to continue with a focus on single-player mods. The publisher had previously suggested one of its main issues entailed mods that could impact GTA Online.
Take-Two's recent crackdown on mods has not been popular among fans. Following the initial shutdown of OpenIV, players flooded the GTA V's Steam page with a stream of negative reviews, tanking the game's review average, while a petition to save the tool garnered over 80,000 signatures. But while the Liberty City mod may be no more, the group behind the project has announced it intends to continue working on OpenIV "within the Rockstar modding policy."
Agents of Mayhem, the upcoming Saints Row spinoff from Deep Silver Volition, has received a new trailer featuring the theme from classic detective show Magnum, PI.
Before that, we learned that Saints Row favorite Johnny Gat is coming to Agents of Mayhem, which is set in the same universe as that saga. The character is highlighted in today's trailer alongside some bonus skins players can grab by preordering.
Agents of Mayhem shares many gameplay similarities with Saints Row: it's an open-world, third-person action game with a comedic, over-the-top story. Unlike Saints Row, however, you'll be able to explore the world with a team of three agents. You can read our most recent preview of the game here, or check out our chat with the developers at E3 2017 here.
It launches on August 15 (August 18 in Europe) for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Star Wars: Battlefront II's launch date is still a ways away, but its hero roster may have just leaked. A user on Reddit has mined the files for Battlefront II's closed alpha and found the game's current hero roster.
User uninspired_zebra found references in the files to a bunch of characters returning from Star Wars: Battlefront and new additions. Among the most significant new characters are General Grievous, Rey, and Kylo Ren.
The roster also includes several unsurprising returners like Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and others. This list is likely incomplete and reflective of the game's early, alpha state; EA has previously announced that Finn and Phasma will come as free DLC later this year, but only Phasma is included in this roster.
The full list of characters that the user found is:
Boba Fett
Han Solo
Leia
Luke
Bossk
Chewbacca
Darth Vader
Emperor Palpatine
General Grievous
Iden
Kylo Ren
Lando Calrissian
Darth Maul
Captain Phasma
Rey
Yoda
Uninspired_zebra also found descriptions and abilities for all of these characters, which you can read about in the full post on Reddit. Some of these characters had already been confirmed by EA, but several, including Grievous, Lando, Yoda, and Phasma, hadn't been announced yet.
Those holding out hope that Cuphead, the beautiful platforming game headed to Xbox One and PC, will also be released for PS4 are out of luck. It's apparently never coming to Sony's console, according to one of the game's developers.
In response to a post on NeoGAF asking if Cuphead is a "100% lifetime PC/Microsoft exclusive," the dev wrote, "Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GOG release likely shortly after)." He also confirmed that the developer, StudioMDHR, owns the Cuphead IP. A representative for the company subsequently reaffirmed all of this to Eurogamer, stating explicitly, "There will be no PS4 version."
Beyond the Xbox One and PC releases, StudioMDHR only intends to offer versions for Mac (at some point "down the road") and Linux ("beyond that"), barring anything disastrous happening to the company. Cuphead is StudioMDHR's first game.
Cuphead was first shown during Microsoft's E3 press conference back in 2014; it immediately caught people's attention thanks to its visual style, which resembles that of 1930s-era cartoons. The project has since expanded in scope, and at this year's E3, we finally got a release date: It's due out on September 29. It supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing you to buy a digital copy on PC or Xbox One and access it on both platforms.

Dunkirk is the latest movie from Dark Knight and Inception director Christopher Nolan, and it hits theaters later this month. It's a star-studded World War II adventure, and a spectacular new trailer has landed. Check it out below:
The movie stars Tom Hardy (The Revenant), Mark Rylance (Bridge of Spies), Kenneth Branagh (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Cillian Murphy (Inception), and Harry Styles of the boy band One Direction. It tells the true story of the mission to rescue 400,000 stranded British soldiers from the French beaches of Dunkirk in 1940.
Hardy plays a fighter pilot in the film, and in a recent interview with Fandango, Nolan spoke about the challenges of shooting the incredible dogfight sequences. "I don't think anyone's ever tried to do aerial combat the way we've done it and photographed it in this film," he said. "My DP, Hoyte Van Hoytema, just never gave up.
"When we would look at how you can't fit a camera in the cockpit and fly the plane, we would build a special kind of snorkel lens and put the camera there. We'd work with the pilot and plane owners to really just go for it, and do as much of it for real as possible."
Nolan also explained that the film would place the visual experience ahead of dialogue and exposition. "It's the kind of film where the visual aspect of the film is dominant right from the get-go," he said. "There's dialogue in the film, but we really tried to approach the storytelling very much from a visual point of view, and an action and suspense point of view. Trying to create suspense visually--a visceral sense of what it would be like to be confronted by this awful paradoxical situation."
With the WWE franchise going through some changes in the last year, WWE 2K18 plans to give the game series some major upgrades and rebalances in an effort to--as the McMahons like to say--do what's best for business. Publisher 2K Games held a special development summit where they revealed more information for the upcoming title in the WWE 2K series. Speaking with executive producer Mark Little, we learned what's in store for the WWE franchise's next foray into the gaming world.
Incorporating years of fan feedback to the upcoming title, including a substantial change in its visuals and mechanics, 2K claims that WWE 2K18 is the most realistic and comprehensive wrestling game to date. Unfortunately, the developers weren't able to share too many details about the game in its present state, but they did give us a rundown on the general features and upgrades coming up. With a reworked graphics engine, new modes and story for MyCareer, an expanded creation suite, 8-Man battles and match types, and enhancements to the grappling system--WWE 2K18 is looks to be a big change for the series.
With the recent brand split and roster shuffling resulting in some majors changes to the different WWE divisions, such as RAW, Smackdown, NXT, and the 205 Live brands--many storylines and plans for the weekly shows went through some substantial updates. Because of this, the WWE Universe mode in 2K18--which is a simulation of the televised WWE schedule--has evolved out of the static storytelling of its predecessors. Moving away from the format of one pay-per-view every four weeks of live-shows from previous years, the general progression in 2K18's changes to Universe mode intends to be much more fluid and organic, featuring a lot of surprises to match the current pace of WWE's TV and PPV schedule.
Presentation was one of the key areas that the developers--a collaboration between Visual Concepts and Yuke's--wanted to focus on. For starters, WWE 2K18 will feature an updated graphics engine, which the developers claim went through a substantial rewriting process over the last two years. It now features dithered rendering, new skin shaders, real time reflections, and physically based rendering--all of which will add greater elements of realism to the characters, while also giving a much stronger atmosphere to the many environments. From the technical demo we saw, which unfortunately featured the new lighting and post-processing effects paired with older character models from 2K17, the game does look noticeably improved over the last title.
"This is something we've been trying to work on for over three years now, and this is the year we're finally able to get it up to where we can pull the trigger and switch it over," said executive producer Mark Little. "There's a lot of R&D that goes into all of the unique problems we were coming across in our experiences working on it. Obviously in traditional sports games, there's not a lot of dynamic lights, but in our game, we have crazy entrances and thematics, and all this stuff with the pyrotechnics going off. So for us, we have to figure out how to use these techniques inside of our problem space, and how do we pull all of these things together into a cohesive package? This last November, we finally realized we passed a number of hurdles that gave us the impression that we could do it this year while pushing ahead. I think it is a pretty big update, even though the video was really zoomed in, and it's not the final models either. There's still a lot tweaks that need to happen--and that's usually where the magic happens, in those little tweaks--and it's already showing great promise."
One area which they acknowledge wasn't up to par in 2K17 was the in-game commentary, which is also being overhauled. Working with the NBA 2K team, which is known for its authentic commentary quality, WWE 2K18 brings in Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, and Corey Graves as the lead commentators. To give it a more organic feel, the three commentators were given extra time to work, and also had the chance to perform in the same room as their co-commentators to lend the recording process more of a natural feel.
Building from the last game, My Career returns and will feature a more serious story. As the last game was criticized for its somewhat sprawling nature, the next attempt at building your character's career will be more concise and narrative-driven than its predecessor. The main reason for this different approach to the story is the inclusion of the brand new Road To Glory mode, one of the new forms of online content for the My Career campaign. While the developers were tight-lipped on mentioning just what this offers, they stated that My Career's story is the lead up to Glory mode, which is the end-game of sorts for My Career.
Along with the expanded My Career comes new changes to the core gameplay. In addition to Promo Engine 2.0--an upgraded and more accurate take on the wrestler's trash-talking dialog system from 2K17--the fighters now go through a brand new progression system which yield unlockable upgrades and perks after matches. To encourage flexibility, the upcoming roster has been increased over the last year, and is set to be the largest in series history. Added to this, the developers working on a brand new character archetype system known as 'fighting styles.' Each wrestler in the roster is set up with a particular archetype, like high-flyer or giant, which reflects their physique, moveset, and physical prowess in the ring. This is not only to reflect the variety in the roster, but also to give players diving into Create-A-Wrestler more defined archetypes to attach themselves to.
One area the developers were aware was a bit too complicated was the core grappling and submissions system. To remedy this, key parts of the submission system have been reworked and overhauled entirely, making it easier to learn and use. In addition to an overhauled dragging system (the technique of using opponent's' momentum against them), a new carrying system has been introduced, which allows players to pick up their opponents, leading to a variety of different moves like power bombs, cradles, and environmental moves. Moreover, there's also a new 'position feeding' mechanic, which allows players to 'sell' their position in the match, launching a move from a groggy or ground position. The developers claim that the grappling systems are more dynamic, leading to a greater level of possibilities compared to the comparatively static system from the previous game.
This will not only come across in the expanded backstage brawl gameplay, which now has 1v1 online and will have three times the interactables and places to fight across in the arena--which the developers describe as a free roam arena--but also in the brand new eight-man battles, along with revamped multi-man match types such as a heavily reworked Royal Rumble mode with new mechanics, Battle Royale, Ladder matches, and 8-man tag matches. Moreover, there will be many different options to play around with, including mixed-gender wrestling and other options such as interactive items and win conditions, which can be added in the new create-a-match feature.
Furthermore, the entire creative suite has been refined and buffed with new features. Along with the previously mentioned Create-A-Match, there's enhancements to the Create-A-Wrestler engine, including upgrades to Create-A-Video--featuring free-cam movement, more effects, and better editing functionality. Added to this is the return of the Create-An-Arena feature, which includes enhanced options, along with better functionality of the community UI and search features to find the sort of content that you want easier. While we learned a surprising amount of information about WWE 2K18, the developers say it's still too early to show off new videos and images, as the title is still very much in progress. With that said, they credit the fans for giving them a constant 'reality-check' to keep on track.
"We're always trying to do more," said Little. "But really, there's pros and cons of working on a 3-5 year game as opposed to an annual release. You have more time to try new things and experiment, find your niche and find the play you like, but you're really in this bubble, and you're not able to get the outside feedback you want. On the annual releases we're on, there's a constant reality check with the game. What's resonating with the consumers, what we can get done, and I think just after working like for awhile, you get used to the constant level of feedback and iteration. It can sometimes get too iterative, especially over the next year. It's good to be able to look at your product and say 'now what are we gonna do? And where do we want to take it?'."
While it's disconcerting to not have seen much of the game, considering the game is scheduled for release on October 17, they state more info is coming soon. With the reveal of Kurt Angle as the pre-order bonus last week, we've still much to learn about WWE 2K18, including our first actual look at the new visuals in action, but the features they have detailed are an interesting start, which will no doubt make the next game feel like a bigger step forward for the series.
The Marvel Universe is filled with costumed characters who use their powers and abilities for both good and evil. At times, these superhumans team up in order to work together for a common cause. In the case of the group Damage Control, their cause is to put the city back together after a superpowered battle.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, it seems like this group will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During an international trailer for the film, it's revealed that Michael Keaton's character, Vulture, was involved in cleaning up New York City after the battle that took place in the first Avengers film.
If you're a fan of Marvel comics, that scenario may sound a lot like the group Damage Control to you. In addition, inside a recent Spider-Man: Homecoming Lego set, the letters "DODC" appear on crates, which you can check out here. This is leading many fans to believe that stands for "Department of Damage Control."
Prior to the release of the film, we're not 100% sure whether or not Damage Control is a part of the film, but they're worth talking about. The group was created by writer Dwayne McDuffie and artist Ernie Colon and first appeared in Marvel Comics Presents #19 back in 1989. During the issue, we meet the smooth-talking John Porter, the future Account Executive for Damage Control, and Anne-Marie Hoag, the founder and owner of the company. In addition, readers are first introduced to Lenny Ballinger, the head foreman of the company. The eight-page story introduces the team and their clean-up of a bar after a battle between Daredevil and Turk.
Immediately after the group's first appearance, a four-part miniseries came out, chronicling the day-to-day jobs of the team. This comedic series introduced the full team, which included new members Robin Chapel, Gene Strausser, and Bart Rozum. No one on this team has superpowers--they're just characters living in a world filled with superhuman characters, which was the backbone of the first and second miniseries in '89 and '90.
Later on, Damage Control did add characters with powers to the team, like when Black Goliath joined to help clean up after the World War Hulk storyline. The super strong Monstro also joined the team during this time as part of the Search and Rescue division. One of his most comedic moments came from when he wanted to fight the Chrysler Building, which became a sentient being.
The most notable superpowered addition came from the comic Irredeemable Ant-Man, when criminal-turned-reluctant-hero Eric O'Grady joined the Search and Rescue team with his stolen Ant-Man costume. This storyline was weaved through the Marvel summer event World War Hulk.
Damage Control may be a really bizarre concept, especially since its contents are treated so comically, but it's an important group in the Marvel Universe. It's bureaucratic, downright bizarre, and answers the age-old question, "Who cleans up after all these superhero battles?"
Looking to read more about Damage Control? Check these stories out:
Damage Control Vol. 1: The four-issue series from 1989 introduces the world to Damage Control and its members. The team's creators, Dwayne McDuffie and Ernie Colon, were the minds behind this run.
Damage Control Vol. 2: McDuffie and Colon return for another four-issue miniseries, and this time, Damage Control is dealing with the likes of the Wrecking Crew, the Punisher, and more.
Damage Control Vol. 3: McDuffie is joined by artist Kyle Baker for this 1991 four issue miniseries. Once again, the crew is cleaning up the city, and there is even a Damage Control movie hitting the Marvel Universe.
World War Hulk Aftersmash: Damage Control: After Hulk fought the heroes of the Marvel Universe, New York City was a mess. It needed Damage Control to clean it up. This 2008 mini would be the last time McDuffie got a chance to write a story involving the team before his untimely passing in 2011.
Irredeemable Ant-Man: The newest Ant-Man, Eric O'Grady, gets a job working Search and Rescue for Damage Control. This story takes place in Irredeemable Ant-Man #7-12.
Sega has announced a new line of spinoffs in the Total War series. The games will all be labeled under a new brand titled "A Total War Saga." Rather than focusing on wider eras, these smaller-scale games will build on previous titles in the main series, and "center on pivotal flashpoints" within them.
In a blog post, the first Total War Saga game's director, Jack Lusted, said, "Total War Saga games will be the same mix of turn-based campaign strategy, real-time battle tactics, and hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay as a regular Total War game, but focused down on a distinct moment.
"Sagas won't be revolutionary new titles or introduce brand-new eras; they'll follow-on from previous Total War games and inhabit the same time-period, or at the very least relate to it. But these are certainly Total War games."
Although no specific Total War Saga title has been announced, series developer Creative Assembly compared the new line to a previous title, Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai. That was a standalone expansion to the base Total War: Shogun 2 game, specifically focusing on the Boshin War.
Lusted said these new titles will not be smaller or shorter than mainline Total War games, however. "We don't mean short Total War games," he stated. "They'll have a narrower focus, but they will still be the epic sandboxes players are familiar with."
He went on to tease that the game he's currently working on will have a gameplay map similar in size to that of Total War: Attila, "but focused on a smaller geographic area, and the campaign will take as long to complete as any other Total War title does." The new title is apparently "another spiritual follow-up to Total War: Rome II, like Total War: Attila."
Total War: Attila was a standalone game set in the period of transition into the Dark Ages. It launched in 2015 and was awarded a 7/10 in our review. Critic Nick Capozzoli said the strategy title contained "austere writing" and "campaigns that come to a close rather quickly compared to many games of this ilk." However its production values were "strong enough to keep you clicking." For more, read our full Total War: Attila review.
Sony has announced that PlayStation Trophies now sync "much more quickly" on PS4, meaning you'll be able to show off your achievements quicker than ever before.
Although syncing to the server is noticeably faster than before on PS4, it is still not immediate like on Xbox One: you're still required to go into the Trophies sub-section of the main menu to trigger the synchronization. It's unclear if sync speeds from PS3 and PS Vita have been improved.

Specifically, you can no longer exit a vehicle that is blocked all the way round, and tire effects will change immediately when a vehicle moves onto a different type of surface. Elsewhere, the game's UI performance has been improved, and a south-east Asia server has been added.
Take a look at the full patch notes at the bottom of this article. The update is out today on Battlegrounds' test server, and it will likely drop on Thursday, July 6, "if everything is stable."
Developer Bluehole announced the new maps at E3 2017, where it also showcased a new weapon--the short-to-medium range OTS rifle--and improved traversal animations. More weather effects are also on the way, along with mod support further down the line.
Multiplayer in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be getting a new difficulty mode soon. In a new trailer, developer BioWare and publisher EA have teased Platinum difficulty for the game's Apex multiplayer missions, challenging players to "take your skills to the next level." Little more is revealed in the video, but we'll presumably learn more about the update in the near future.
Apex missions are Andromeda's multiplayer squad-based challenges, and new ones have continued to be introduced since launch. The Platinum missions join Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels for more skilled players.
The trailer also appears to tease a new race for Andromeda: the batarians. One is seen in the video above, despite not being found in Andromeda to this date. The species was seen in the original trilogy, most notably in Mass Effect 2.
The news comes just a few days after reports emerged that Andromeda would not be getting any single-player DLC and that a sequel had been shelved. They followed previous reports that EA had put the Mass Effect series on "hiatus" and scaled down BioWare's workforce. According to Kotaku, a small team will remain working on Andromeda's multiplayer portion to add content and push out fixes. However most of the game's primary development studio, BioWare Montreal, has apparently moved on to other projects.
The Edmonton, Canada-based developer has since unveiled its new IP, Anthem, which is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2018.
In our Mass Effect Andromeda review, critic Scott Butterworth said, "In many ways, Andromeda feels like a vision half-fulfilled. It contains a dizzying amount of content, but the quality fluctuates wildly. Its worlds and combat shine, but its writing and missions falter--and the relative strength of the former is not enough to compensate for the inescapable weakness of the latter." He awarded the game a 6/10.
Hollywood producer Adi Shankar (Dredd, Lone Survivor, The Voices, and more) today announced his next project--and it's for one of the biggest franchises in gaming. The 32-year-old producer revealed that he's working on an Assassin's Creed anime series.
It is based on Ubisoft's massively popular stealth-action franchise, but it will tell an entirely original story. There is no word as of yet regarding its title, premiere date, network, or cast. Ubisoft itself has yet to say if it is involved in the production.
Those details will come later down the road; it sounds like the project is still relatively early in the production process.
Shankar is a big fan of the Assassin's Creed series, and he says he was floored to get the opportunity to work on the new Assassin's Creed anime. "If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life, they are wrong," Ankar said.
"I played the first edition of Assassin's Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles," he added. "At that moment, I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day, Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin's Creed and create an original anime story set in it as an anime series."
Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest on the new Assassin's Creed anime.
In March this year, Assassin's Creed head of content Aymar Azaizia confirmed that an Assassin's Creed TV series was happening, but until we did not know much about it, if this is indeed the series in question. Last year, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the company was in talks with Netflix for a series, but he did not say which Ubisoft property might be spun into a show. It's possible Assassin's Creed--one of Ubisoft's biggest and most recognizable brands--is the franchise in question.
This won't be the first time the Assassin's Creed series has extended to circles beyond gaming. Fox produced a live-action Assassin's Creed movie last year starring Michael Fassbender. The Justin Kurzel-directed film apparently made more than $240 million worldwide and is reportedly getting multiple sequels.

Telltale Games' first Nintendo Switch game will be Minecraft: Story Mode Season 1 at some point in the future. But could the company bring more of its titles to the system? It sure sounds like it, according to Telltale head of communications Job Stauffer.
Minecraft: Story Mode Season 1 is heading to Switch, and it looks like Season 2 and more of Telltale's franchises could show up on the hybrid console in due time.
"We haven't quite announced [Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 for Switch] but we certainly hope to continue things on that platform; we're big fans," Stauffer said.
He went on to talk about why the Switch could be the "perfect" home for Telltale's games. "It wouldn't be unheard if more of our series also made it to Switch; we love the platform. It's kind of perfect for what we do," he said. "All of our games are the same on mobile as they are on consoles. And for a mobile console [like the Switch] it's pretty awesome."
A release date for Minecraft: Story Mode Season 1 on Switch has not been announced as of yet. As for the other Telltale titles that could come to Switch, the developer has a big library of high-profile episodic franchises. Some of these include seasons of Game of Thrones, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Walking Dead, Batman, and The Wolf Among Us.
The other piece of news announced during the panel was that The Longest Five Minutes is now coming in 2018, delayed from its previously announced 2017 release window.
The game was released in Japan last summer, only for PS Vita.
NIS America also confirmed that there will be a limited edition version of The Longest Five Minutes for Switch. The $55 bundle will come with the game, the soundtrack (feature two discs and a booklet containing game art), and four lapel pins. All of this comes inside of a collector's edition box, DualShockers reported.
Here is the official description for The Longest Five Minutes:
"Our hero faces the origin of all evil, the Overlord himself, but suddenly loses all memories of his adventure. His finishing moves, the name of his hometown, and even the reason he's trying to defeat the Overlord in the first place, all gone. Our hero tries to regain his priceless memories before it's too late, but the Overlord stands before him, his power unyielding! What can happen in the The Longest Five Minutes!?"
[UPDATE] It appears today's PSN issues have been resolved. The PSN status website shows that all services and features are back up and running.
The original story is below.
It looks like the PlayStation Network is experiencing some issues right now. The official PSN status page shows that basically all PSN services are running into problems currently.
This includes Account Management, Gaming And Social, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Vue, PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Music. Affected platforms include all the big ones: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PC, and mobile.
"Our engineers are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, and we thank you for your patience," Sony said.
People on NeoGAF are saying that they are receiving notifications that this downtime could be related to maintenance.
It's not immediately clear how widespread these issues are. As always, some people may experience issues while others don't, and there could be many reasons for that.
We'll update this post with new details as they become available. We would expect the issues to be sorted out relatively soon. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.
Destiny 2 game director Luke Smith has teased the upcoming shooter's first raid. Raid 5, as it's known only right now, will be set in a place that players "believe is real," Smith said in a new interview with Mashable. He added that this raid, whatever form it takes, will be unlike the four that came before it.
"Raid 5, when we looked at it, it was about building a place you believe is real. That was our priority," he said. "A place that you believe could exist. It's unlike anything we've done. The team is incredibly talented; it is a joy to see them work."
Destiny 1 had four raids: Vault of Glass, Crota's End, Kings' Fall, and Wrath of the Machine. Raid 5 sounds like it's going in a new and exciting direction, and we're eager to hear more about what's in store.
In other Destiny 2 news, Smith wrote on Twitter recently that he is very excited to be playing a new build of the shooter at home. Really excited.
[UPDATE] In a Reddit post (via PC Gamer), Team Guru outlined the "no shortcuts, no cheating, legit way" to access GTA Online's alien mission.
To trigger the mission, you apparently have to complete 601 Gunrunning sales, and then begin a supply run between 21:00 and 23:00 for the in-game clock. "Yep, it really is that simple. But considering the amount of time it takes to do 600 sales means that this isn't an easy thing to achieve," reads a line from the Reddit post.
Additionally, the alien mission will reportedly only trigger once.
The original story is below.
GTA Online's Gunrunning update, which was released in June, apparently contained clues about a secret alien mission, which modders have now unlocked and played. As Kotaku reports, the Gunrunning update's code suggested that there might be a UFO crash site nearby the Zancudo military base. Now, the folks behind a modding group called Team Guru have found a way to unlock the mission, which you can see below.
As you can see, it's not the most thrilling of missions. At least in the state it's in now, the player comes upon a massive, crashed alien ship, with dead scientists in a swamp. There is an alien egg out in the open that the player acquires, at which point a few ETs spawn and must be dealt with. Then the player drives the egg to a bunker to finish the mission. Bear in mind that this mission, if it's real at all, might not be finished, as it was discovered in the game's code and before Rockstar made any mention of it.
"Much hard work, two weeks of sleepless nights, and years of research have gone into bringing this to you guys," Team Guru said in a Reddit post. "What does this mean for the mystery?? Who knows, we still don't have the undamaged ship being used, yet!!"
This isn't the first time aliens are in GTA V. There is a sequence in GTA V's single-player mode where Michael does drugs and sees aliens that he has to gun down with a huge chain gun. The new GTA Online alien mission could be the signal of grander plans.
The newest GTA Online is out now, adding a number of 4th of July-themed items, as well as a new mode and a number of discounts. For lots more on the update, check out GameSpot's full breakdown of everything it comes with.

A sequel to the Dark Souls-like game Lords of the Fallen is still happening, but developer CI Games has put only a "very small team" to work on the project, suggesting it might not come out anytime soon.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski told Eurogamer, "We definitely have that game in our plans and we definitely want to make this a great game. We're very serious about Lords of the Fallen the sequel."
He added that CI Games is not going "halfway" with the game. Giving the team the time it needs to make a good game is "the quality way" of moving forward, he said.
"I wouldn't say it's a couple of years away," he told Eurogamer in the new interview. "We've been working quite a lot on Lords of the Fallen 2, we really did a lot. It's really finding the best teams who can work on that game together, and when we have that setting, we pretty much know what we want to do."
Also featured in the interview is Tomasz Gop, the producer for the first Lords of the Fallen game and the sequel before he stepped away in 2015. He has no left CI Games entirely, telling Eurogamer he was let go "because of a reduction in team, in scope, in budget, in business approach." Gop is now working at Destructive Creations, the team behind the controversial shooter Hatred.
GameSpot's 8/10 Lords of the Fallen review praised the game's combat system and atmospheric worlds. Reviewer Kevin VanOrd also enjoyed its grotesque creature designs that helped hammer home the dark setting.
Ahead of Spider-Man: Homecoming's release this week, Sony has published a four-minute clip from the superhero movie showing off "A Film By Peter Parker." The cool clip shows what happened when Tony Stark/Iron Man came to New York to recruit Spider-Man for a fight against Captain America in Civil War. We see some of Spider-Man's perspective during the airport battle in Germany, and then a lighter scene at the end.
Speaking to the PlayStation Blog, Homecoming director Jon Watts said the film does tell an origin story for Spider-Man, but it's unlike the others that have come before it.
"It's not the same moments of the origin story that we've seen before in other movies: we don't see Uncle Ben die, we don't see a spider bite," he said. "But I think this is the beginning of Spider-Man, in a way. He's still learning how to be a superhero. In a way, it is an origin story--just not one we've seen before."
Also in the interview, Watts said it was important for him to have Spider-Man come across as "regular kid" in the new film.
"He has to be dealing with the same kinds of problems that a regular kid is dealing with," Watts said. "We also have to know that Peter is smart, and learn about his home life. But ultimately, that's what makes Spider-Man, Spider-Man: he's just like you and me."
The main villain in Homecoming is Vulture, who is played by Michael Keaton. Watts said he was drawn to Vulture as a villain for a number of reasons, one of which was that Vulture is one of the first villains that Spider-Man ever came to know.
"And two, because it really opens up the possibilities of some very cool action sequences," Watts said. "A guy in a wingsuit fighting Spider-Man? [laughs] That was very attractive to me."
Now, Patti has shared a little more insight into his departure from Playdead. Speaking to Eurogamer, Patti acknowledged some level of "fallout," adding that Playdead still has a place in his heart and he is on speaking terms with almost everyone at the studio.
"There was some kind of fallout," Patti said. "It is kind of delicate. It's also combined with other personal reasons. I really like Playdead. It's something that's deep in my heart. I love the people there, they're still my friends. I'm on speaking terms with 98 percent of the people there..."
"For me it was just time to do something else. I found a way to do it in a way where I could do whatever I wanted afterwards."
Patti is the executive producer for the new game Somerville, which is being developed by The Avengers movie animator Chris Olsen from a new studio, Jumpship, in Guildford, UK.
