It's no secret that Call of Duty: WWII is going to have a Zombies mode; over the past few years, it has become a staple of the Call of Duty series. In addition, we already know the cast that'll appear in this year's mode. Today, Activision finally revealed WWII's Zombies in a new trailer.
Not surprisingly, considering that this year's game takes place during World War II, the mode will once again focus on Nazi Zombies. The trailer reveals that, like in years past, this Zombies mode will feature a storyline centered on zombie killers. You can check it out below.
The trailer was revealed at Activision's San Diego Comic-Con panel, and the company will likely talk more about Zombies soon. We'll update this article with any new details that are revealed. However, we already know that David Tennant (Dr. Who), Elodie Young (Daredevil), Udo Kier (Blade)and Kathryn Winnick (Vikings) will star.
Call of Duty: World War II launches on November 3 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. A beta will take place before launch, and you can get a spot by pre-ordering the game.
Update: The strange stream is part of today's reveal of Call of Duty: WWII's Zombies mode. The Call of Duty Twitch account is also streaming a mysterious scene from a town called Mittelburg, and the Call of Duty Twitter account confirmed that it's Zombies related. We'll have more about the Zombies mode once it's officially revealed today.
Original Story: There's a new mystery afoot: the official PlayStation Twitch account is streaming something, and there's no indication what it is.
The stream is called "Mittelburg Footage," and it shows a grainy, lo-fi scene of a rainy town. Every so often, it switches quickly to a new scene for just a few minutes with the sound of a camera shutter.
This is complete speculation, but it seems to be a tease for some sort of horror or thriller project. It's definitely atmospheric and spooky enough to be that. "Mittelburg," however, doesn't seem to be related to any other PlayStation property. The word itself appears to refer to a German castle in the town of Neckarsteinach.
Take a look at the stream yourself in the embed above. Can you make sense of it? Do you think that it could be a tease for a new PS4 game? Let us know in the comments.
There might be a new frontrunner for "game title that sounds most painfully from the early 2000s," and that's PWND. It's a new rocket-arena shooter for PC, and it enters Early Access today.
Developer Skydance Interactive announced today in a press release that PWND is now available. According to the studio's description, it sounds somewhat like Quake Champions: it's a character-based shooter that's fast-paced and emphasizes verticality in combat. You can watch its trailer below.
PWND's distinguishing element is its scoring system. Instead of scoring points in the traditional shooter way--by simply killing enemies--you have to down an enemy and then dance on top of them. It's somewhat similar to Call of Duty's Kill Confirmed game mode, but instead of just picking up a dog tag your enemy drops, you have to perform dance moves on their body.
The game currently has four heroes, each with different abilities and stats, as well as three maps. From today until July 26, you can pick the game up for $24; its normal price will be $30.
Amazingly, this isn't the only game that's been announced recently with an aggressively 2000s name. Several ex-Payday developers revealed their new game, called GTFO, which is a four-player cooperative first-person shooter. You can read more about it here.
Bandai Namco has released a batch of new screenshots for Code Vein, the publisher's upcoming vampire RPG. The new images give fans a look at two of the possible companion characters they'll be able to team up with on their adventure, as well as a pair of giant bosses they'll encounter.
Set in a dystopian world populated by "vicious enemies and monstrous bosses," Code Vein pits players in the role of a Revenant, a vampiric race who have traded their memories for the "Gifts of power." Players select a companion from the Vein, a hidden society where the other remaining Revenants reside, and use their combined powers to explore the world and battle enemies.
Today's batch of screenshots introduces two of the other Revenants players will encounter: Mia Karnstein and Yakumo Shinonome. Mia is a wandering Revenant who wields a bayonet-like weapon that allows her to attack from a distance; Yakumo is described as a "faithful man" who is "loved by others and conducts himself in a cool and professional manner during combat." The screenshots also give fans a small glimpse at two of the horrific bosses they'll need to batle. You can see the images below.
The Saw series is one of the most successful horror franchises ever made, and the first trailer for the latest entry has been released. Jigsaw hits theaters in October, and it looks every it as gruesome, inventive, and scary as previous episodes. Check it out above.
Jigsaw is directed by Michael and Peter Spierig, who previously helmed the vampire movie Daybreakers and the sci-fi thriller Predestination. In a recent interview, Michael Spierig explained that although film is a bit lighter in tone than previous parts, it would still deliver the gory goods.
"We've got some pretty wild traps in the film," he said. "We don't shy away from the gore. It's such a perfect Halloween scarefest. [But] it's perhaps not quite as vicious; it's more fun, which is something we tried to inject into it.
"But it's still full of good fun gore, that's for sure. And, on top of that, it's got a really great mystery, and there's very interesting twists. It's Saw for 2017."
Jigsaw takes its title from the movies' psychotic, trap-setting villain, who is played by Tobin Bell. Although his character died in the third movie, filmmakers have found a way to include him in every subsequent entry. The trailer suggests that a copycat killer is on the loose in the new movie, but we'll find out for sure if Jigsaw is back when it arrives on October 27.
The original Saw was released in 2004 and made more than $103 million worldwide from a budget of just $1.3 million. In total, the series has grossed more than $870 million. The last movie to date was 2010's Saw 3D.
Remember a few years back when a lot of developers announced hero-based shooters? Overwatch was, of course, the most notable of the bunch, but there was also Battlecry from Bethesda and Gearbox's Battleborn. Gigantic was another one of those hero shooters announced at around the same time, and it finally launches today.
It's available now as a free-to-play title on Xbox One and PC. Following an update released today, there are now 19 playable heroes in the game. The latest, Ramsay, is a "heavy hitter" that wields a sword, according to a press release. Developer Motiga promises that a new character will be released each month from now on.
Although the Overwatch comparisons are clear--it's a colorful, cartoony hero shooter--Gigantic is distinguished by its third-person perspective and its low-poly art style that's somewhat similar to Team Fortress 2's art. It also looks similar to third-person MOBAs like Smite and Battleborn. In addition, matches in Gigantic consist of two teams of five battling on a single map. Each team has a Guardian, a massive creature that has its own skillset; the goal of the game is to kill the other team's Guardian. You can see the launch trailer above.
Although it's free-to-play, you can buy the $30 Ultimate Pack to access all 19 heroes and any additional heroes added in the future. You also receive skins, progression boosts, and in-game currency.
Gigantic has faced a troubled development cycle since its announcement back in 2014. Motiga had to switch publishers in 2016 following layoffs. Further, the game was originally scheduled to launch in 2015, but it was pushed back to 2016 then, finally, 2017.
Sony has kicked off its latest Flash Sale on the PlayStation Store. This one starts earlier in the week than most, and it features quite a lot of deals for all PSN members--no PlayStation Plus membership required.
All of these offers are available until 8 AM PT/11 AM ET on Monday, July 24; you can see them all here. These overlap with the standard weekly PSN deals, which feature a special Totally Digital promotion going on for the next few weeks.
Figment is a whimsical-looking adventure game that is also a full-fledged musical. The game has previously been announced for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, but now developer Bedtime Digital Games says a version is coming for Nintendo Switch too.
"Figment is a musical action-adventure set in the recesses of the human mind: a strange and surreal world; a place filled with our deepest thoughts, urges and memories, populated by the many voices we hear in our heads," reads the game's description. You play as Dusty as he navigates the different sides of the mind, solving puzzles and contending with a cast of nightmarish enemies who also happen to sing. You can see the game's "music video" gameplay trailer below.
In addition to puzzle-solving, Dusty will also battle sinister nightmares. The full score of musical performances are defined by your exploration of the hand-drawn world.
"This mind has been quiet and calm for many years. But something has changed. New thoughts have started to emerge--taking the shape of nightmarish creatures who spread fear wherever they go. The only hope is for the grumpy Dusty, the mind's former voice of courage, to get back to his old self and help the mind to face its fears," Bedtime Digital Games said.
Figment will launch on PC in September, with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions to follow. Bedtime Digital Games says the Nintendo Switch version is coming later this year.
The much-anticipated adaptation of Stephen King's classic novel It doesn't arrive in theaters for two months, but plans for the sequel are already underway. It has been reported that the second part of King's epic horror saga could start pre-production next spring.
In a new interview with Variety, director Andres Muschietti confirmed that he would start work on the It sequel soon. "We'll probably have a script for the second part in January," he said. "Ideally, we would start prep in March. Part one is only about the kids. Part two is about these characters 30 years later as adults, with flashbacks to 1989 when they were kids."
While it isn't surprising that Warner is making plans for the second movie, the studio is clearly confident enough to move forward with it before the first one has been released. Pre-production in March means that the film is likely to start shooting by the summer, making a 2019 release probable.
Muschietti also explained how the new film would differ from the 1990 TV adaptation that starred Tim Curry as the demonic clown Pennywise. "People who read the book and got the book, they're not crazy about the miniseries," he said. "It was a very watered-down version. It didn't contain the darkness that the book had. They couldn't make something for TV about a clown who eats children."
"I wanted to stay true to the essence of [Pennywise]," he continued. "I knew that I didn't want to go the road of Tim Curry. Bill Skarsgard caught my attention. The character has a childish and sweet demeanor, but there's something very off about him. Bill has that balance in him. He can be sweet and cute, but he can be pretty disturbing."
It comes to theaters on September 8. A first trailer was released in April, and this creepy clip followed in May. The movie features at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, so it's likely we will see some more footage soon.
The Magitek Exosuits will be added later this month as a free update, Square Enix announced via Twitter. Donning the suits makes your party invincible for 30 minutes. However, the suits can only be used once every 24 hours.
The Magitek Exosuits were originally intended to be released as part of the game's DLC Booster Pack in February. However, the costumes were delayed due to their obvious similarity to the ones worn by the Power Rangers in the recent film. To make up for the delay, Square Enix will be offering the Magitek Exosuits for free to all players with this month's update. The publisher has said the suits would be redesigned to further differentiate them, though it hasn't shared any new images of costumes yet. You can see their original design above, however.
Last month's free update introduced the Regalia Type-D, an off-road customization option for the party's car that lets players leave the road and drive anywhere. The most recent DLC chapter for Final Fantasy XV, Episode Prompto, was also released last month. Unlike the main game, it is set in an arctic environment and follows the eponymous Prompto as he fights to discover the truth behind his origins. It also features third-person shooting and snowmobile segments. A DLC episode starring Ignis is slated to follow this holiday season.
One of the biggest games to date for Nintendo Switch, Splatoon 2, arrives tomorrow, July 21. Ahead of its release, a pair of new titles have arrived on the system's Eshop.
First up is Boost Beast, a sort of action-puzzle game. It consists of match-3-style gameplay, but with the added element of fighting off waves of zombies as you play. You assume the role of "Alec, the king of the dogs," who uses his army of animals to fight off these monsters. It's priced at $10/£9.
Today's other new addition is the obligatory ACA Neo Geo release. This time around, it's Samurai Shodown, the 1993 fighting game that kicked off the long-running series. It distinguished itself from competitors at the time with a focus on weapon-based combat and a Rage system where, after taking a certain amount of damage, players' attacks become stronger. Samurai Shodown carries the usual Neo Geo game pricing of $8/£6.29.
This is all an appetizer for tomorrow's release of Splatoon 2. The colorful shooter introduces new weapons and mechanics while retaining a similar style of gameplay to that of its popular Wii U predecessor. You can check out GameSpot's Splatoon 2 review now, but be forewarned that its online voice chat setup is less than elegant.
Nintendo's next micro console, SNES Classic, is set to launch this fall, but that may not be the end of the company's retro plug-and-play line. A new trademark filing suggests that a miniature Nintendo 64 could also be on the way.
The filing in question is for a controller that appears identical to that of the Nintendo 64. Nintendo recently applied for a trademark for the distinctive three-pronged gamepad with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (via NeoGAF). The application is listed under goods and services, which suggests the trademark pertains to a physical product. You can see the image from the filing below.
Nintendo filed similar trademarks for NES and SNES controllers prior to the announcement of those respective micro consoles, which suggests that the company may also plan to release an N64 Classic at some point in the future. Some analysts have predicted that a plug-and-play version of the N64 could follow the SNES Classic, so this trademark application lends some weight to those theories.
The NES Classic was released in November 2016. It retailed for $60 and came pre-loaded with 30 classic games. Most fans, however, could not get their hands on one as the console sold out almost immediately as soon as new shipments were released. Despite its success, the NES Classic was discontinued globally only six months after it launched.
The new trailer for the upcoming spy sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle is here. It arrives just ahead of the movie's panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and delivers a mix of outlandish action and impressive star power. Check it out above.
The SDCC panel is set to take place on Friday, July 20. A teaser promises that it would be "a panel like no other," and many of the cast of The Golden Circle are expected to be there. New character posters were also revealed this week, while the first trailer hit in April.
The movie stars Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, and Colin Firth once more, while new members of the cast include Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Julianne Moore. It's directed by Matthew Vaughn, who also helmed the hugely successful Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2014.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Vaughn spoke about casting Moore as the movie's main villain, who takes over from Samuel L. Jackson in the first movie. "For this film, I needed a performer who could fill the shoes of Sam Jackson without any sense of intimidation," he said.
"Someone who could make this character pretty insane but at the same time real. And though Kingsman is hopefully a big popcorn film, I love to put fantastic, brilliant, Oscar-winning talent like Julianne Moore into crazy environments. That's when we get magic happening."
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is released on September 22, 2017.
Legendary Pokemon have been a long time coming in Pokemon Go. One false start aside, they will finally be introduced later this week to celebrate the game's one-year anniversary.
In order for the first one to arrive, players around the world will have to catch enough creatures during the upcoming Pokemon Go Fest Challenge Windows, which were recently announced. If that happens, a Legendary will show up at Grant Park in Chicago as part of the live Pokemon Go Fest event this Saturday, July 22. Should the players there succeed in defeating it, that Legendary--whatever it might be--will start appearing around the world after the event. Suddenly, developer Niantic's plans to livestream the event make a lot more sense.
As the live-action trailer above suggests, a Legendary Pokemon is fought in a similar way to standard Raid Battles. Players team up to fight it and then have a chance to catch it if the Pokemon is successfully defeated.
Provided you're not in Chicago for Pokemon Go Fest, in the future you'll stumble across Legendary eggs at Gyms where you'll also have the chance to fight and then catch these creatures. If you're fortunate enough to get your hands on one, however, you'll find it differs from other Pokemon in at least one way, as you won't be able to leave it behind at a Gym to defend it.
It's unclear what will happen if efforts to unlock the first Legendary fail this weekend. We'll report back with whatever happens.
Ahead of Pokemon Go Fest, a new update for the game has begun rolling out. This includes some bug fixes along with some refinements and new features, including the ability to give berries to a Pokemon you've left at a Gym without actually visiting it.

[THIS POST CONTAINS GAME OF THRONES SEASON SEVEN SPOILERS]
Sunday night's Game of Thrones Season 7 debut featured the massively popular singer Ed Sheeran in a small role. He played a singing Lannister who Arya meets in the woods. Not everyone enjoyed Sheeran's performance or the fact that he was on the show at all. Now, the director of the first episode, Jeremy Podeswa, has responded to people saying mean things.
"I think Ed did a lovely job--he's a lovely actor and a lovely person," Podeswa told Newsweek. The director further defended Sheeran, saying the criticism of his appearance on the show comes from his international stardom. Since he's one of the biggest and best-known singers on the planet, that adds another level of "hoo-ha," Podeswa said.
"He was appropriate for the part because he needed to sing. If people didn't know who Ed was, they wouldn't have thought about it twice," the director said. "The hoo-ha seems to be from things that are outside of the world of the show. In the world of the show he did a lovely job, and he looks like he belongs in that world."
Sheeran himself is a big fan of Game of Thrones, and Podeswa said Game of Thrones shies away from "stunt casting" to get more attention.
Sheeran temporarily deleted his Twitter account after the Game of Thrones episode aired, but the singer says on Instagram that the timing was only a coincidence.
"I came off Twitter Coz I was always intending to come off Twitter, had nothing to do with what people said about my Game of Thrones cameo, because I am in Game of Thrones, why the hell would I worry what people thought about that," Sheeran said. "It's clearly f**kin' awesome. Timing was just a coincidence, but believe what you want."
Sheeran is not the first musician to have a cameo Game of Thrones. Sigur Ros, the drummer from Coldplay, and members of the metal band Mastodon have all been on the show in the past.
Another week, another No. 1 for Activision's Crash Bandicoot remaster package in Australia and New Zealand. The IGEA today released the weekly sales charts for the week ended July 16, showing that Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was yet again No. 1 in both regions on the all-platforms physical sales charts, a position its held for a while now.
Earlier this month, Activision said the N. Sane Trilogy, which includes updated versions of the first three games, was an experiment of sorts to see if the Crash band still had power. It appears that it does, so it'll be interesting to see what Activision does going forward.
See below for the complete physical games sales charts for the week ended July 16, divided by platform and region. Note that these charts only account for physical game sales, not digital, so it may not be necessarily representative of total spend. The charts were supplied by the Interactive Games & Entertainment Association (IGEA).

A sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming is on the way, and now it's been reported that Sony is looking director Jon Watts to return alongside star Tom Holland. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony and Marvel are planning to stick with Watts for the sequel.
The sequel's story will begin after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, according to the report. Holland is coming back as Spider-Man, but that's all we know about the story.
Watts also directed the Kevin Bacon movie Cop Car and the 2014 horror film Clown.
It's not a big surprise that Sony and Marvel would want to bring Watts back for the Homecoming sequel. The superhero movie was generally well-liked and it has made more than $480 million so far, after just two weeks, according to Box Office Mojo. The movie also starred Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, and Zendaya.
The Homecoming sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
The Xbox Live Creators Collection, a new page in the Xbox One Game Store, is now available to some testers as part of a pilot program. The Collection is a section in the store that features titles made using the Creators Program, which was announced at GDC 2017 and Microsoft says lets developers "rapidly" publish their digital games.
The Creators Program lets developers--or anyone for that matter--use their existing retail Xbox One system to make games. You can learn more about the program here.
If you're part of the Xbox Insider program, you should be able to check out the Creators Collection now. There are only six titles in the catalog now (see above), some of which are free. More details are available here on Major Nelson's blog.
The Creators Collection and other features are released first for Xbox Insider members for the purposes of testing. Members are encouraged to leave feedback about here on the Xbox Feedback site.
There is no word yet on when the Creators Collection will become available for all Xbox One owners or what titles might be added to the library later. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

One of the rarest games out there, Stadium Events for Nintendo Entertainment System, has sold at auction for a huge price. According to to Kotaku, the rare game went for $41,977, but it wasn't a traditional auction.
The seller of the sealed Stadium Events copy intended to sell the game on eBay, but the person who won the auction reportedly didn't pay. The seller then connected with a "serious buyer," who paid the enormous sum to acquire the ultra-rare game.
Stadium Events, which saw a very limited release in 1987 and was paired with the short-lived Family Fun Fitness pad, is considered one of the first exercise games. It's incredibly rare on its own, and the fact that this one is factory-sealed certainly added to the appeal.
The identities of the seller and buyer have not been disclosed.
Who has copies of Stadium Events? The seller involved in the aforementioned 2015 auction told GameSpot that they worked for Nintendo and acquired it that way. After hearing about how much the game was worthy, they decided to sell.
Ahead of that, GameSpot is speaking to Jesse Rapczak, the art director and co-creative director at developer Studio Wildcard, which he co-founded. This is a rare opportunity to speak with one of the higher-ups at the studio who helps guide the direction of the hit dinosaur action game.
We're trying something new for GameSpot with this interview. We want YOU to submit questions about Ark for Rapczak. Post them in the comments, and we'll select some to put directly to Rapczak. Ask whatever you want, but there is no guarantee that your question will be selected. We'll choose them based on newsworthiness, originality, humour, and other criteria. Go ahead! We're cutting off questions on Friday, July 21, so ask away!
Ark: Survival Evolved has been available via Early Access for two years. The game is getting a physical release on August 8 and will retail for $60. "Stormborn" Synopsis:
"Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) receives an unexpected visitor. Jon (Kit Harington) faces a revolt. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) plans the conquest of Westeros."
The Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere episode, "Dragonstone," picked up 16.1 million viewers, which is a 50 percent increase over the Season 6 premiere. Season 7 will run only seven episodes total, three fewer than past seasons.
The previously announced Mega Man film is moving forward, as it's now been reported that the directors of the documentary Catfish will direct the video game movie. Those directors as Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman; they also made Paranormal Activity 3 and 4.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joost and Schulman are in "final negotiations" with film studio Fox to write and direct the untitled Mega Man film.
Mega Man--known as Rock Man in Japan--debuted in 1987's Mega Man, an action-platformer for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Since then he has gone on to star in numerous new entries in the main series, as well as spinoffs.
There is no word yet on what the story would be for the film or which actors might star in it. It's also unclear if it's live-action or animated.
The next Mega Man game is this year's Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It comes with Mega Man 7-10 and a new Challenge Mode that remixes stages and lets you compete against others via online leaderboards.
Game of Thrones still has another season to go after the current one, but showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have announced their next show. The pair will return to HBO for Confederate, a dramatic imagining of an alternate future America that sounds every bit as provocative as their fantasy hit.
Benioff and Weiss will begin production on Confederate once work on the final season of Game of Thrones is completed. HBO have released a synopsis for the new show, which reads: "Confederate chronicles the events leading to the Third American Civil War. The series takes place in an alternate timeline, where the southern states have successfully seceded from the Union, giving rise to a nation in which slavery remains legal and has evolved into a modern institution.
"The story follows a broad swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone--freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, journalists, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall."
In a statement, Benioff and Weiss explained that the concept for Confederate had existed for some time, and was originally considered for a movie. "We have discussed Confederate for years, originally as a concept for a feature film," they said. "But our experience on Thrones has convinced us that no one provides a bigger, better storytelling canvas than HBO. There won't be dragons or White Walkers in this series, but we are creating a world."
Benioff and Weiss will serve as writers and showrunners on Confederate. It currently has no premiere date, but with Season 8 of Game of Thrones yet to even start production, don't expect it for at least a couple of years. There are also several Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works, but Benioff and Weiss will not be heavily involved in these.
The Nintendo Switch already has an officially licensed basketball game in the form of NBA Playgrounds. NBA 2K18 and a version of FIFA 18 are coming later this year. Now, another officially licensed sports game has been announced for the console.
Major League Baseball announced that R.B.I. Baseball 17 is launching for Switch on September 5. The company said in a press release that this is particularly notable since it'll become the first licensed pro sports game to be available at retail for the Switch (NBA Playgrounds is a digital-exclusive, apparently).
R.B.I. Baseball 17 is already available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. For the Switch version, you can play at home or on the go, though there is no word yet on what differences there might be between the Switch version and the others.
Unlike Sony's MLB The Show series, R.B.I. Baseball is a more stripped-down, arcade style take on pro baseball. Nine-inning games can be completed in under 20 minutes, the developers say, and all 30 MLB parks are included and teams are updated with the latest roster of players.
R.B.I. Baseball 17 for Switch will launch on September 5, priced at $30.
The first official Pokemon Go live event kicks off this weekend in Chicago, but fans who aren't able to attend can still join the festivities. Today on Twitter, Niantic announced that the Pokemon Go Fest event will be livestreamed this Saturday, July 22, on Twitch.
While the developer hasn't revealed just when the stream will begin, the Pokemon Go Fest event begins at 8 AM PT/11 AM ET. Attendees are able to participate in a variety of activities, including three "Challenge Windows" that have players working together to catch a certain amount of Pokemon. These Challenge Windows are open to all Pokemon Go players around the globe, so even if you can't make the event in-person, you can still take part in its activities. If players successfully complete the challenges, they'll unlock bonus perks for all users to enjoy.
Pokemon Go Fest is only the first official live event that Niantic has planned for the popular mobile game. That same weekend, players in the UK will be able to participate in a different event hosted in the historic city of Chester. Additionally, Safari Zone events will be held across Europe throughout the summer at select Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers. These events give fans a chance to capture some rare monsters, including ones that don't normally appear in the region. You can find more details and a list of participating cities here.
Pokemon Go developer Niantic has announced the details of the latest update for its popular mobile game. While not a major one on par with the recent update that introduced Raids, it does make some improvements.
The update is rolling out now and brings the Android version to version 0.69.0 and iOS to 1.39.0. The Pokemon Collection screen's search functionality has been improved, while Pokemon info screens will now house an icon that shows how it was caught.
In terms of Gyms, players no longer have to return to one in order to feed berries to their Pokemon, which was a recent change. Now, you can go to a Pokemon's info screen and feed them berries from afar, although doing so is "less effective" than actually visiting the Gym. Additionally, you'll now be able to spin a Gym's Photo Disc right after finishing a Raid.
The rest of the update deals primarily with fixing various issues and bugs; some of these are outlined in the patch notes below. This patch comes just prior to the start of the next big Pokemon event, which takes the form of a live Pokemon Go Fest event in Chicago (and will be followed by events elsewhere in the world). Those who can't make it in person can still participate in their own way, though.
Pokemon Go Update 1.39.0 (iOS) / 0.69.0 (Android) Patch Notes
Added icons to the Pokemon information screen to indicate how the Pokemon was caught.
Added the ability for Trainers to spin the Photo Disc at a Gym after completing a Raid Battle.
Added the ability for Trainers to send Berries to their Pokemon defending Gyms through the Pokemon info screen when they are not nearby. Motivation regained will be less effective through this method.
Added the ability for Trainers to give Berries to Pokemon defending Gyms if their motivation meter is full.
