Season 11 of Diablo III is officially underway as of today, marking the first one where you'll be able to play as the recently released Necromancer class. It brings with it a new round of rewards, including some brand-new cosmetics.
The main reward that you'll likely be gunning for is a new pet, the Emerald Dragon. As pictured in the gallery below, it's a green serpent-like creature which, like all other pets, follows you around and picks up nearby gold (but otherwise doesn't affect gameplay). In addition to that, making your way through the Season Journey objectives will get you new portraits that feature a Treasure Goblin theme, as well as the Pant and Boot slots of the exclusive Conqueror set.
As always, completing certain milestones in the Season Journey earns you Haedrig's Gift, entitling you to the parts of a classic-specific set. For Season 11, here is the set for each class:
Barbarians -- Wrath of the Wastes
Crusaders -- Roland's Legacy
Demon Hunters -- Unhallowed Essence
Monks -- Raiment of a Thousand Storms
Necromancers -- Bones of Rathma
Witch Doctors -- Helltooth Harness
Wizards -- Tal Rasha's Elements
With Necromancer still being a relatively new class, there's a good chance you may not have Bones of Rathma just yet. It's a six-piece set that resembles the Necromancer's look in Diablo II. Depending on how many pieces of it you have equipped, it offers a chance to reduce Army of the Dead's cooldown, provides damage reduction, and increases certain damage you deal when Skeletal Mages are active. You can see this, along with the other sets up for grabs, in the gallery above.
While Marvel's schedule is packed with future movies, things have been a bit less busy at DC. Justice League and Aquaman are both due out in the next 12 months, but beyond that, it has been unclear what the next movie from the studio will be. It has now been reported that Shazam will go into production early next year for a 2019 release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg. Sanberg scored a hit last year with the thriller Lights Out, and his horror sequel Annabelle: Creation arrives next month.
Dwayne Johnson was previously announced in the role of Shazam's nemesis Black Adam and is set to appear in a spinoff movie focusing on that character. However, it is unknown if he will also appear in the Shazam movie.
Shazam first appeared in 1939, when he was known by the name Captain Marvel. The character was bought by DC in 1971, when he was renamed, due to Marvel's ownership of the name Captain Marvel. A live action Shazam TV show was broadcast in the mid-70s, while an animated show followed in 1981.
Fans got their first taste of Splatoon 2's Splatfest competitions in last weekend's World Premiere demo, which pitted Team Ice Cream against Team Cake in a battle for dessert supremacy. Today, Nintendo announced when the next Splatfest will take place, and this one is also revolves around food.
On Twitter, the company revealed that the next Splatoon 2 Splatfest in Europe and North America will be about your condiment of choice: mayo or ketchup? According to the tweet, the Splatfest will take place the first weekend of August, though Nintendo hasn't revealed any more details about the event just yet.

Splatfests are a returning feature from the first Splatoon. The events are held regularly and ask players to pick a side on a divisive topic and earn points for their team. While Splatfests typically occur on the same day around the globe, the theme occasionally varies by region. This was the case for the World Premiere demo; while players in the US and Europe had to side with either cake or ice cream, Japanese players were asked to choose between rock and pop music.
Splatoon 2 released exclusively for Nintendo Switch today. The game was very well-received by critics; GameSpot's Kallie Plagge awarded the game 8/10 in our review and said, "At first glance, Splatoon 2 seems very similar to the first game. But all the small changes, and even the bigger ones in single player and League Battles, make for a fresh take on the already unique shooter. If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in."
The biggest comic convention of the year is happening in San Diego this weekend, and the DC Comics booth has some cool statues of the members of the upcoming Justice League movie and a Batman: The Animated Series-styled Harley Quinn. Check them out below.
Justice League will drop in November, and its first trailer was revealed in May. Each of the members-- Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Flash, and Wonder Woman--are featured in the center of the booth in glass cases.
In addition, DC is helping celebrate the 25th anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series, which first aired in September of 1992. The beloved character Harley Quinn made her first appearance on this show, and since then, has become one of DC's most popular characters, appearing most recently in the film Suicide Squad.
To date, Ghost Recon: Wildlands has lacked any kind of formal player-versus-player component, but that's set to change later this year with the release of Ghost War. Before it arrives, the new competitive multiplayer mode will be tested publicly through an open beta.
Ubisoft announced today that Ghost War will enter open beta on all platforms "later in the summer," though it didn't offer a more specific date than that. The full mode itself is planned for release as a free update that's due out this fall.
Ghost War pits two teams of four against each other in a "deathmatch experience that builds on the tactical squad play from the main game." Rather than simply play as your character from the campaign, you'll choose from different classes to do battle on "large-scale, open maps." Ghost War won't play identically to the campaign, as it features new mechanics--the two Ubisoft cites are suppressing fire and sound markers.
After years of development, World of Warcraft's fan-made legacy server Felmyst is going live. The server rolls the game back to launch of The Burning Crusade. The first expansion to the game was released in 2007, and following Felmyst's open-beta (which closed July 18) the unofficial server will go live starting at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM BST.
Felmyst aims to keep the game as authentic to The Burning Crusade experience as possible. Unlike other unofficial servers, there are no bonuses to the amount of gold or loot you get and levelling happens at the same rate as it did in 2007 (up to level 70). There are two realms, one for Alliance and one for Horde, and both are PvP. You can see the legacy server's release trailer below.
In a detailed video, developer Gummy how complicated it was to create the legacy server because of The Burning Crusade's level of detail. World of Warcraft was also, at that time, a much-more difficult game to play. Gummy said players can look forward to the challenge of replaying the game with its 2007 build.
Today's update includes a substantial overhaul of helicopter controls, meant to make them easier to use. Ubisoft also stated that the new controls are meant to make them feel more authentic. Each type of helicopter will fly slightly differently, and you'll need to get the rotor up to a sufficient RPM before you can take off.
Most significantly, Ubisoft is changing the way that weapons systems work on each type of helicopter. Gatling choppers, for instance, will have new crosshairs, rocket helicopters will have lock-on targeting, and small helis with rockets will fire salvos instead of locking on. There's also a new control scheme, which you can see below. You can also check out the full Title Update 6 patch notes at the bottom of the article.
In spite of not getting a new game in years, the Half-Life franchise continues to show signs of life. Today, the third chapter in the Half-Life comic series, A Place in the West, was released on Steam.
Chapter 3, titled The Pit, is the latest installment in the licensed comic that was officially released in September 2016. But the origins of the comic are much older: it began as an unlicensed fan project with an issue published in 2014. Valve then granted the creators the Half-Life license and let them continue making issues. Check out its new trailer below.
According to its website, "A Place in the West follows three characters who are, each in their own way, drawn to a strange American city called New Franklin. Once inside, they discover a powerful secret, but the city holds many dangers, deceptive temptations, and a society on the brink of madness." The new chapter features more characters and The Pit, a community of aliens that centers around a gladiatorial arena.
Although Valve has given the comic the official Half-Life license, the company does not contribute to its creation--it remains a fan-made project. The comic is only available on Steam, and chapters 2 and 3 cost $2/£1.50 each. The first chapter is free.
Nintendo is giving away another set of free items for Pokemon Sun and Moon. This time, players can snag four rare Mega Stones using a special Mystery Gift password.
With this code, players can get their hands on Mega Stones for Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Manectric, and Aggron. Those who participated in May's International Challenge may have already received the former three stones, but this marks the first time that Aggron's is obtainable in the seventh generation titles. All four Pokemon are especially powerful when they Mega Evolve, so you won't want to miss your chance to get these items.
To receive the Mega Stones, select Mystery Gift from the games' menu screen and choose to receive your gift "via Code/Password." When prompted, input the code "SABLEVOLANT," then pick the items up from the deliveryman inside any of the games' Pokemon Centers. Today's code is universal, allowing players around the world to download the items.
Those aren't the only bonuses Nintendo is distributing for Sun and Moon. Players also still have a chance to add a rare Shiny Tapu Koko to their team. Nintendo is giving the Legendary Pokemon away via Mystery Gift from now until August 14. Tapu Koko cannot be found in the wild in its shiny form, making this the only legitimate way for players to obtain one.
A new pair of seventh generation Pokemon titles dubbed Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are slated to arrive for 3DS on November 17. The games are set in the same world as the original versions, but they tell an "alternate story" and include some Pokemon that weren't originally obtainable in Alola. Players can pre-order a steelbook dual pack right now from Amazon. The series' second generation titles, Pokemon Gold and Silver, are also releasing on the 3DS Virtual Console this September, and any Pokemon captured in those can be transferred to Sun and Moon using Pokemon Bank.

While the 1994 sci-fi hit Stargate was not followed by any further movies, it did spawn a hugely popular, long-running TV franchise. It has now been announced that the property is to return with a new show titled Stargate: Origins.
Stargate: Origins is a 10-part show that will debut this fall. The news was announced at a panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con celebrating the 20th anniversary of Stargate SG-1. It was also revealed that the series will debut on MGM's new dedicated Stargate streaming channel, Stargate Command.
Stargate: Origins will focus on the character of Catherine Langford, who featured in the movie and is the daughter of the man who discovered the ancient interstellar gate of the title. A first teaser was screened--check it out below:
In a statement, Kevin Conroy, president of digital and new platforms at MGM, said: "We've been eager to revisit the Stargate franchise, and create an all-new story that honors the founding mythos and gives loyal fans more mystery and adventure. We view Stargate: Origins as a thank you to fans who have been keeping the spirit of the franchise alive for nearly 25 years.
"With the increasing popularity of digitally native content that can be streamed to any device, MGM is committed to the production of premium linear mid-form content and are proud to launch with Stargate: Origins."
According to Variety, the Stargate Command channel will have both paid-for and free elements, and will provide a "comprehensive collection of content related to the franchise," although it is unknown whether the movie or earlier shows will be available.
The film was directed by Independence Day's Roland Emmerich. Stargate SG-1 followed three years later and ran until 2007. Other shows include Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, plus the animated series Stargate Infinity.
We got our first details on Piccolo and Krillin from the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump. The publication gave some insight into how the two characters would stand out among the many powerful Saiyans on the roster; Piccolo, for instance, can extend his arms to grab opponents from afar, while Krillin's signature Destructo Disc attack is unblockable. You can get a better look at the characters and their abilities in the screenshots below.
