Season 11 of Diablo III is officially underway as of today, marking the first one where you'll be able to play as the recently released Necromancer class. It brings with it a new round of rewards, including some brand-new cosmetics.
The main reward that you'll likely be gunning for is a new pet, the Emerald Dragon. As pictured in the gallery below, it's a green serpent-like creature which, like all other pets, follows you around and picks up nearby gold (but otherwise doesn't affect gameplay). In addition to that, making your way through the Season Journey objectives will get you new portraits that feature a Treasure Goblin theme, as well as the Pant and Boot slots of the exclusive Conqueror set.
As always, completing certain milestones in the Season Journey earns you Haedrig's Gift, entitling you to the parts of a classic-specific set. For Season 11, here is the set for each class:
Barbarians -- Wrath of the Wastes
Crusaders -- Roland's Legacy
Demon Hunters -- Unhallowed Essence
Monks -- Raiment of a Thousand Storms
Necromancers -- Bones of Rathma
Witch Doctors -- Helltooth Harness
Wizards -- Tal Rasha's Elements
With Necromancer still being a relatively new class, there's a good chance you may not have Bones of Rathma just yet. It's a six-piece set that resembles the Necromancer's look in Diablo II. Depending on how many pieces of it you have equipped, it offers a chance to reduce Army of the Dead's cooldown, provides damage reduction, and increases certain damage you deal when Skeletal Mages are active. You can see this, along with the other sets up for grabs, in the gallery above.
While Marvel's schedule is packed with future movies, things have been a bit less busy at DC. Justice League and Aquaman are both due out in the next 12 months, but beyond that, it has been unclear what the next movie from the studio will be. It has now been reported that Shazam will go into production early next year for a 2019 release.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shazam will be directed by David F. Sandberg. Sanberg scored a hit last year with the thriller Lights Out, and his horror sequel Annabelle: Creation arrives next month.
Dwayne Johnson was previously announced in the role of Shazam's nemesis Black Adam and is set to appear in a spinoff movie focusing on that character. However, it is unknown if he will also appear in the Shazam movie.
Shazam first appeared in 1939, when he was known by the name Captain Marvel. The character was bought by DC in 1971, when he was renamed, due to Marvel's ownership of the name Captain Marvel. A live action Shazam TV show was broadcast in the mid-70s, while an animated show followed in 1981.
Fans got their first taste of Splatoon 2's Splatfest competitions in last weekend's World Premiere demo, which pitted Team Ice Cream against Team Cake in a battle for dessert supremacy. Today, Nintendo announced when the next Splatfest will take place, and this one is also revolves around food.
On Twitter, the company revealed that the next Splatoon 2 Splatfest in Europe and North America will be about your condiment of choice: mayo or ketchup? According to the tweet, the Splatfest will take place the first weekend of August, though Nintendo hasn't revealed any more details about the event just yet.

Splatfests are a returning feature from the first Splatoon. The events are held regularly and ask players to pick a side on a divisive topic and earn points for their team. While Splatfests typically occur on the same day around the globe, the theme occasionally varies by region. This was the case for the World Premiere demo; while players in the US and Europe had to side with either cake or ice cream, Japanese players were asked to choose between rock and pop music.
Splatoon 2 released exclusively for Nintendo Switch today. The game was very well-received by critics; GameSpot's Kallie Plagge awarded the game 8/10 in our review and said, "At first glance, Splatoon 2 seems very similar to the first game. But all the small changes, and even the bigger ones in single player and League Battles, make for a fresh take on the already unique shooter. If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in."
The biggest comic convention of the year is happening in San Diego this weekend, and the DC Comics booth has some cool statues of the members of the upcoming Justice League movie and a Batman: The Animated Series-styled Harley Quinn. Check them out below.
Justice League will drop in November, and its first trailer was revealed in May. Each of the members-- Aquaman, Batman, Cyborg, Flash, and Wonder Woman--are featured in the center of the booth in glass cases.
In addition, DC is helping celebrate the 25th anniversary of Batman: The Animated Series, which first aired in September of 1992. The beloved character Harley Quinn made her first appearance on this show, and since then, has become one of DC's most popular characters, appearing most recently in the film Suicide Squad.
To date, Ghost Recon: Wildlands has lacked any kind of formal player-versus-player component, but that's set to change later this year with the release of Ghost War. Before it arrives, the new competitive multiplayer mode will be tested publicly through an open beta.
Ubisoft announced today that Ghost War will enter open beta on all platforms "later in the summer," though it didn't offer a more specific date than that. The full mode itself is planned for release as a free update that's due out this fall.
Ghost War pits two teams of four against each other in a "deathmatch experience that builds on the tactical squad play from the main game." Rather than simply play as your character from the campaign, you'll choose from different classes to do battle on "large-scale, open maps." Ghost War won't play identically to the campaign, as it features new mechanics--the two Ubisoft cites are suppressing fire and sound markers.
After years of development, World of Warcraft's fan-made legacy server Felmyst is going live. The server rolls the game back to launch of The Burning Crusade. The first expansion to the game was released in 2007, and following Felmyst's open-beta (which closed July 18) the unofficial server will go live starting at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM BST.
Felmyst aims to keep the game as authentic to The Burning Crusade experience as possible. Unlike other unofficial servers, there are no bonuses to the amount of gold or loot you get and levelling happens at the same rate as it did in 2007 (up to level 70). There are two realms, one for Alliance and one for Horde, and both are PvP. You can see the legacy server's release trailer below.
In a detailed video, developer Gummy how complicated it was to create the legacy server because of The Burning Crusade's level of detail. World of Warcraft was also, at that time, a much-more difficult game to play. Gummy said players can look forward to the challenge of replaying the game with its 2007 build.
Today's update includes a substantial overhaul of helicopter controls, meant to make them easier to use. Ubisoft also stated that the new controls are meant to make them feel more authentic. Each type of helicopter will fly slightly differently, and you'll need to get the rotor up to a sufficient RPM before you can take off.
Most significantly, Ubisoft is changing the way that weapons systems work on each type of helicopter. Gatling choppers, for instance, will have new crosshairs, rocket helicopters will have lock-on targeting, and small helis with rockets will fire salvos instead of locking on. There's also a new control scheme, which you can see below. You can also check out the full Title Update 6 patch notes at the bottom of the article.
In spite of not getting a new game in years, the Half-Life franchise continues to show signs of life. Today, the third chapter in the Half-Life comic series, A Place in the West, was released on Steam.
Chapter 3, titled The Pit, is the latest installment in the licensed comic that was officially released in September 2016. But the origins of the comic are much older: it began as an unlicensed fan project with an issue published in 2014. Valve then granted the creators the Half-Life license and let them continue making issues. Check out its new trailer below.
According to its website, "A Place in the West follows three characters who are, each in their own way, drawn to a strange American city called New Franklin. Once inside, they discover a powerful secret, but the city holds many dangers, deceptive temptations, and a society on the brink of madness." The new chapter features more characters and The Pit, a community of aliens that centers around a gladiatorial arena.
Although Valve has given the comic the official Half-Life license, the company does not contribute to its creation--it remains a fan-made project. The comic is only available on Steam, and chapters 2 and 3 cost $2/£1.50 each. The first chapter is free.
Nintendo is giving away another set of free items for Pokemon Sun and Moon. This time, players can snag four rare Mega Stones using a special Mystery Gift password.
With this code, players can get their hands on Mega Stones for Tyranitar, Abomasnow, Manectric, and Aggron. Those who participated in May's International Challenge may have already received the former three stones, but this marks the first time that Aggron's is obtainable in the seventh generation titles. All four Pokemon are especially powerful when they Mega Evolve, so you won't want to miss your chance to get these items.
To receive the Mega Stones, select Mystery Gift from the games' menu screen and choose to receive your gift "via Code/Password." When prompted, input the code "SABLEVOLANT," then pick the items up from the deliveryman inside any of the games' Pokemon Centers. Today's code is universal, allowing players around the world to download the items.
Those aren't the only bonuses Nintendo is distributing for Sun and Moon. Players also still have a chance to add a rare Shiny Tapu Koko to their team. Nintendo is giving the Legendary Pokemon away via Mystery Gift from now until August 14. Tapu Koko cannot be found in the wild in its shiny form, making this the only legitimate way for players to obtain one.
A new pair of seventh generation Pokemon titles dubbed Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are slated to arrive for 3DS on November 17. The games are set in the same world as the original versions, but they tell an "alternate story" and include some Pokemon that weren't originally obtainable in Alola. Players can pre-order a steelbook dual pack right now from Amazon. The series' second generation titles, Pokemon Gold and Silver, are also releasing on the 3DS Virtual Console this September, and any Pokemon captured in those can be transferred to Sun and Moon using Pokemon Bank.
Update: The official Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite trailer for the new characters has made its way online. You can check it out above or read on for the full story and some screenshots.
Original Story: The list of confirmed characters on the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roster has grown quite substantially today. As part of the Marvel Games panel at San Diego Comic-Con, a total of four more characters have been announced.
These new additions focus on returning characters for the series. On the Capcom side, there's Nemesis (Resident Evil), Mike Haggar (Final Fight), and Frank West (Dead Rising). Marvel's newly confirmed character is Spider-Man.
All four characters were quickly shown in action at the panel, along with another look at the recently announced Gamora. You can check out a new trailer showcasing them all above; it provides some sense of how each one will operate.
While the 1994 sci-fi hit Stargate was not followed by any further movies, it did spawn a hugely popular, long-running TV franchise. It has now been announced that the property is to return with a new show titled Stargate: Origins.
Stargate: Origins is a 10-part show that will debut this fall. The news was announced at a panel at this year's San Diego Comic-Con celebrating the 20th anniversary of Stargate SG-1. It was also revealed that the series will debut on MGM's new dedicated Stargate streaming channel, Stargate Command.
Stargate: Origins will focus on the character of Catherine Langford, who featured in the movie and is the daughter of the man who discovered the ancient interstellar gate of the title. A first teaser was screened--check it out below:
In a statement, Kevin Conroy, president of digital and new platforms at MGM, said: "We've been eager to revisit the Stargate franchise, and create an all-new story that honors the founding mythos and gives loyal fans more mystery and adventure. We view Stargate: Origins as a thank you to fans who have been keeping the spirit of the franchise alive for nearly 25 years.
"With the increasing popularity of digitally native content that can be streamed to any device, MGM is committed to the production of premium linear mid-form content and are proud to launch with Stargate: Origins."
According to Variety, the Stargate Command channel will have both paid-for and free elements, and will provide a "comprehensive collection of content related to the franchise," although it is unknown whether the movie or earlier shows will be available.
The film was directed by Independence Day's Roland Emmerich. Stargate SG-1 followed three years later and ran until 2007. Other shows include Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe, plus the animated series Stargate Infinity.
We got our first details on Piccolo and Krillin from the latest issue of Japanese magazine V-Jump. The publication gave some insight into how the two characters would stand out among the many powerful Saiyans on the roster; Piccolo, for instance, can extend his arms to grab opponents from afar, while Krillin's signature Destructo Disc attack is unblockable. You can get a better look at the characters and their abilities in the screenshots below.
2K Sports has announced the lineup of songs that will be present in its pro basketball game this year, NBA 2K18. It's comprised of 49 songs, one fewer than that of NBA 2K17.
This is an important bit of news for 2K18 fans, as it represents the list of songs you'll listen to ad nauseam while contemplating trades and managing the salary cap. There's a mixture of more contemporary artists and older ones--you've got songs by everyone from Kendrick Lamar to Drake and Quavo to Nas and Lin-Manuel Miranda to A Tribe Called Quest to Outkast.
2K didn't make any special note of who was responsible for curating the soundtrack. In previous years, it's attributed them to the likes of LeBron James, Pharrell Williams, and Imagine Dragons.
Last years's reboot of the comedy classic Ghostbusters wasn't the success that many expected it to be, and we're very unlikely to see a direct sequel. But that doesn't mean that the franchise is dead. Producer Ivan Reitman was at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend and spoke about plans for a new animated movie.
Reitman, who also directed the original film, appeared on a panel for the launch of a new series of Ghostbusters comic books. Reitman was asked about the current state of the franchise, and he revealed that the next film could focus on the ghosts themselves.
"We have wonderful plans for an animated feature that we're deep in design on already, and [it has] a really great story," he said. "That's going to surprise everybody, I think, when it comes out. We're dealing with [the] ghost world quite a lot. We're looking at the film from a ghost point-of-view, and the Ghostbusters from a ghost point-of-view. I think that would be something very interesting for you. And of course a new live-action film."
Reitman also hinted that one of the Ghostbusters projects would be released in 2019, to coincide with the original film's 35th anniversary. "We're going to try to tie one of our films close to that date," he said.
Reitman recently admitted that a big reason for the reboot movie's failure was the size of its budget. "We certainly would've loved to have a larger hit," he said in April. "But considering the last film was almost 30 years ago, it really did extremely well. I think the film cost too much, frankly, and that's the real issue."
A virtual reality game for the PSVR called Ghostbusters: Now Hiring was released earlier this year. Reitman was heavily involved with its development, while the game's ghost was voiced by American comedian and Agents of SHIELD star Patton Oswalt.
The European PlayStation Store is offering discounts on a variety of PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita titles as part of its Summer Sale, which lasts until August 16.
Those that weren't able to get early access to the Destiny 2 beta will be able to download and play it without a code from today. As previously detailed by Bungie, the Destiny 2 beta becomes open to everyone from 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM BST on July 21.
The Destiny 2 beta offers a taste of the campaign and multiplayer. You can try the opening mission, Homecoming, and see some of the cinematics from the campaign. As well as that, there's the attack/defend Countdown mode on the Endless Vale map.
For those that want to try a strike there's the Inverted Spire, which is set in a Vex stronghold and can be played with two friends. Matchmaking is available to fill these slots for those that aren't using a pre-arranged Fireteam.
Then, from 10 AM PT on July 23, you can visit the social space, which is called The Farm. There you can goof off and do things like kick around a soccer ball or make friends with a chicken. You can find more on what's in the Destiny 2 beta, what isn't, and known issues here.
This week sees the release of the next major Switch game, Splatoon 2. Nintendo's colorful shooter launches today, and like its Wii Upredecessor, it puts a unique twist on team-based shooters. In the series' signature mode, Turf Wars, two teams of four compete not to amass the most kills, but to cover the most terrain with their shade of ink.
While Splatoon 2 shares many similarities with the original, Nintendo had added new content as well to round out this sequel. Along with new weapons, gear, and special abilities, Splatoon 2 features an expanded single-player campaign that has players blasting through levels on a quest to find the missing Squid Sister, Callie. There's also a new Horde mode called Salmon Run, in which a team of players take on waves of Salmonid enemies and collect their eggs.
Reviews for Splatoon 2 have begun surfacing online, and as always, we've compiled an overview of the game's critical reception. Below you'll find excerpts of reviews from various publications, along with the score each awarded the game. For a wider look at what critics think of Splatoon 2, be sure to check out GameSpot sister site Metacritic.
"At first glance, Splatoon 2 seems very similar to the first game. But all the small changes, and even the bigger ones in single player and League Battles, make for a fresh take on the already unique shooter. If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in." -- Kallie Plagge [Full review]
Polygon -- 8/10
"What the first Splatoon did well is still built into the sequel's barnacle-encrusted DNA, and now it's on a system that you can stuff in your bag or play on the couch. It's baffling that Splatoon 2's best feature is held back by a frustrating lack of proper online support, and in many ways, it's the same game with some new tricks. But there are still enough imaginative additions for anyone who played the first game to death, especially via its strange, captivating supporting cast. It may be much more of the same, but the same is still pretty fresh." -- Chelsea Stark [Full review]
IGN -- Review In Progress
"It feels as if the paint had just begun to dry on Splatoon after its release on the Wii U in 2015 when Nintendo applied a fresh coat and relaunched it with Splatoon 2 on the Switch. That may be why this sequel feels less like a whole new game than a new version of the first one that rolls up the best post-launch updates to the colorful and adorably non-violent team-based shooter and adds some new toys. Of course, considering the first game is a lot of fun, that's not necessarily a bad thing, especially if you missed it for lack of a Wii U. And despite some questionable choices that can leave you trapped in matchmaking purgatory, the addition of a standout and clever take on a co-op horde mode provides some seriously addicting fun that has me coming back for more." -- Brendan Graeber [Full review in progress]
Eurogamer -- Recommended
"So yes, Splatoon 2 is more of the same. It's a lot more of the same, seeing how it folds in all the improvements and additions that were introduced to the original over time and gives returning maps a significant makeover. It's going to be a lot more of the same--with the potential for some new surprises--given how Splatoon 2 is going to benefit from the same steady roll-out of new weapons, maps and modes. By any reasonable measure, this is a better game than its predecessor, and not just on quantity alone. It no longer benefits from the shock of the new--for that, you have to look towards the outstanding Arms--but it's most definitely an improvement on what remains one of Nintendo's finest games in many a year. It was only inevitable, though, that this one was never going to feel quite as fresh." -- Martin Robinson [Full review]
US Gamer -- 4/5
"As for me, like a good pop song being woefully addictive, I'll likely be singing Splatoon 2's tune well past its launch. While I was initially disappointed by how familiar the game felt, I still got a big goofy grin as I splatted my way to victory time and time again. It amounted to some of the most fun I've had in any multiplayer game in years. Probably, to be honest, since the last time squid kids splashed paint onto my screen. In the meantime, when Splatoon 3 inevitably hits in a few years I hope something spices up the tried and true splatting formula now that more than the twenty people who owned a Wii U can finally give the charming, innovative shooter a spin. Until then, as Pearl and Marina would say, Splatoon 2's off the hook. (That's slang for cool, I think. Don't ask me.)" -- Caty McCarthy [Full review]
GamesRadar+ -- 4/5
"If these gripes appear minor, that's because they are. They came nowhere near ruining my time with Splatoon 2. It's the most multiplayer fun I've had in a while: the bright colours and squelchy sounds draw you into a mechanically complex shooter that you could spend weeks trying to master--and still learn new tricks. Splatoon 2 doesn't improve much on the excellent original, but it's a timely reminder of just how fun it is to throw a bucket of paint at a man with a pointy head until he explodes." -- Samuel Horti [Full review]
Marvel premiered a new trailer for the Inhumans TV show today, providing another look at the anticipated superhero TV show. Adding on to the first trailer in June, this one shows more of the family of superhero beings, including a giant teleporting dog named Lockjaw.
The new trailer premiered at San Diego Comic-Con today and can be seen below.
The first episode of Inhumans premieres in theaters on September 1, with the rest of the series continuing on ABC starting on September 29.
Anson Mount stars as Black Bolt, with Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Ken Leung as Karnak.
The Inhumans were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in a 1965 issue of Fantastic Four. Their first self-titled comic line ran from 1975 to 1977, and they have subsequently appeared in a variety of limited and ongoing series over the past four decades.
The premise is provocative, for sure, and the announcement of the show hasn't been without its critics. Now, showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, along with husband-and-wife producers/writers Nichelle Tramble Spellman and Malcolm Spellman, have responded.
Speaking to Vulture (via EW), Benioff started off by confirmed that not even one script is written for Confederate yet, nor are there even outlines of the stories that will be told.
"We haven't written any scripts yet," he said. "We don't have an outline yet. We don't even have character names," he said. "So everything is brand new and nothing's been written. I guess that's what was a little bit surprising about some of the outrage. It's just a little premature. You know, we might f**k it up. But we haven't yet."
Malcom Spellman added, "This is not a world in which the entire country is enslaved. Slavery is in one half of the country. And the North is the North. ... the imagery should be no whips and no plantations."
Nichelle Spellman said she understands the concerns some people might have about a show like Confederate, but she says people should wait to see the final product.
"The concern is real. But I think that the four of us are very thoughtful, very serious, and not flip about what we are getting into in any way. What I've done in the past, what Malcolm has done in the past, what the D.B.s have done in the past, proves that," she said. "So I would have loved an opportunity for the conversation to start once the show was on the air."
Malcolm Spellman went on to talk about why it's difficult to have a constructive conversation about a subject like this these days.
"There's a new emerging group of black filmmakers, right? And we have a good standing there with our peers," he said. "But there's no connective tissue between us and what's coming out in the media. I don't know that we can change anyone's mind… but what people have to understand is, and what we are obligated to repeat in every interview is: We've got black aunties. We've got black nephews, uncles. Black parents and black grandparents. We deal with them every single day.
"We deal with the struggle every single day. And people don't have to get on board with what we're doing based on a press release. But when they're writing about us, and commenting about us, they should be mindful of the fact that there are no sell-outs involved in this show. Me and Nichelle are not props being used to protect someone else. We are people who feel a need to address issues the same way they do, and they should at least humanise the other end of those tweets and articles. You know what I'm saying?"
Benioff and Weiss will serve as writers and showrunners on Confederate. It currently has no premiere date, but with Season 8 of Game of Thrones yet to even start production, don't expect it for at least a couple of years. There are also several Game of Thrones spinoffs in the works, but Benioff and Weiss will not be heavily involved in these.
[UPDATE] The eShop issues appear to be resolved and the store is now working normally.
The original story is below.
It looks like the Nintendo Switch's eShop is having some issues right now, as people are reporting that they cannot access the store. It's unfortunate timing, as Splatoon 2 launches today. Attempts to log into the eShop return the error code 2811-7504.
GameSpot was unable to log into the eShop from a US account, though we were able to sign in with no issue from an Australian account. As usual, your mileage may vary, but what seems clear is that there is some issue affecting at least a portion of players.
Splatoon 2 launched today, July 21, exclusively for Switch. GameSpot's review scored the game an 8/10. Reviewer Kallie Plagge said, "If you played a lot of the original, the sequel has enough to keep you coming back, and if you're new to the game, it's a fantastic place to jump in."
We will update this post with more details on the eShop issues as they become available.

The beloved '90s animated TV show Rocko's Modern Life is coming back as a movie called Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling. The first trailer for the movie aired today at San Diego Comic-Con, and it shows Rocko, Heffer, and Filburt struggling to make sense of the modern world. Among other things, the trailer pokes fun at Apple and its products. The characters talk about competing to have the latest "oPhone," and a billboard for an "oWatch" can be seen. The tagline is "Look like a tool!" Enjoy the trailer below:
Rocko's Modern Life creator Joe Murray told Motherboard (via Pedestrian) that the new movie is set in modern day. As for where they've been for the past 20 years, Murray said Rocko and his pals have been drifting through space.
"My work has always been to poke fun at where we are and hold up a mirror to where we are and see the insanity of it," Murray told the site. "Some of the things that we're doing is just insane."
Static Cling airs on Nickelodeon in 2018. The TV movie features the same voice actors as the original show, including Carlos Alazraqui as Rocko, Tom Kenny as Heffer, and Doug Lawrence as Filburt.
"Rocko's Modern Life: Static Cling brings the characters back to Earth after being lost in outer space since 1996," reads a line from the movie's description. "Rocko has trouble accepting this 21st century modern life, while Heffer and Filburt embrace every aspect of new technology, social media and the endless diversity of food trucks. Rocko whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world."
Rocko's Modern Life originally ran for four seasons, from 1993-1996.
Nickelodeo is also producing TV movies for some of its other classic shows, including Hey Arnold: The Jungle Movie and Invader Zim.
A new map is available for Battlefield 1 right now, though you may have to pay to get it. The new map, Prise de Tahure, is available for people who own the the Premium Pass or the They Shall Not Pass expansion individually. Another way to play the map is by joining the squad of a player who owners the Premium Pass; this is called the Premium Friends service.
Also going on right now (July 20-27) is Battlefield 1's first Premium Trials event. This lets everyone who owns the base version of Battlefield 1 play all of the Premium Pass maps at no extra cost. This includes They Shall Not Pass' six maps, the Frontlines mode, and more. You can also play the just-released Prise de Tahure map.
One thing to bear in mind is that you won't earn XP from expansion pass maps unless you own the Premium Pass or They Shall Not Pass.
Prise de Tahure is set in the region of Champagne-Ardennes, and you can play as either the French or German. Every game mode (except Operations), along with all the weapons and vehicle are supported on the map.You can read more about the Prise de Tahur map here and Premium Friends service here. In other news, here's a silly video of DICE LA developers trying to pronounce Prise de Tahur:
We asked @EA_DICE LA how they've been pronouncing the just-released second night map around the studio. How'd they do? pic.twitter.com/QIsk7yHWqH
Battlefield 1, which came out last October, will join the EA and Origin Access free game Vaults later this year. Launch dates were not announced, but additions to the Vault are typically permanent, so you'll have plenty of time with the games once they're added.
The Destiny 2 beta is going on right now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It wraps up on July 23, and now Bungie has discussed the purpose and importance of the testing period. In Bungie's latest weekly blog post, producer Jared Berbach said the beta has already been "amazingly helpful" for the development team.
"The analogy I always give is that the beta is the plow on the front of the train that blasts all the snow off the tracks to clear our path," Berbach explained. "We had many updates to the original, but Destiny 2 is a brand-new game using brand new technology in order to deliver an awesome experience. This new technology needs a lot of testing."
Berbach added: "This testing ultimately helps us validate that our new server model is working as we thought it would, and at the quality and scale we had hoped. It helps us evaluate our new tech advancements, including enhancements you'll understand more fully when you play the full game. Ultimately, it paves the way for us to have a much smoother launch."
Also in the blog post, beta design lead Rob Engeln said another major purpose of the Destiny 2 beta is to, of course, gather feedback about gameplay and balance. He clarified that the version of Destiny 2 that this beta is based on is actually "months old," so the feedback players send in is more about validating choices that were already made.
"In addition to retuning the drop rates, we built a system that guarantees power ammo drops for you and your Fireteam from certain enemies, giving power weapons a more reliable and predictable role in your arsenal," Engeln said. "Other areas where we've made significant tuning changes include grenade effectiveness in PvE, Boss vitality, and weapon damage against non-player combatants."
Since the Destiny 2 beta is still going on, Bungie isn't ready just yet to talk about the "full suite of statistics," but it sounds like those details will come later.
"This grand experiment is ongoing, and we're tracking every data-point and forum thread," Bungie said.
The Destiny 2 beta opens to everyone on PS4 and Xbox One on July 21. For everyone, the beta wraps up on July 23, so play now while you still can!

Netflix has released a new trailer for the intriguing-looking "action-thriller" Bright, which stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as cops--human and orc, respectively.
Bright is directed by David Ayer, who made Suicide Squad and Fury. It's set in an alternate present-day where humans and non-humans live and work together. Smith's character, Ward, and Edgerton's, Jakoby, go out on a regular patrol only to find that they got a lot more than they bargained for. A lot more.
"Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a deadly, thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything," reads a line from the movie's description.
Bright also stars Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, and Margaret Cho. It was written by Max Landis (Chronicle, American Ultra) and debuts on Netflix on December 22.
With Injustice 2 topping the charts in May and Tekken 7 in June, it's now two months in a row that a fighting game has come out on top. Another notable takeaway is that the N. Sane Trilogy charted so high (No. 4), despite only being available for two days in June. It's the first game in the series to land in the top five since Crash Bandicoot: Warped back in 1998.
Year-to-date, the best-selling game in the US continues to be Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Its publisher, Ubisoft, remains the leader in terms of total revenue so far in 2017.
Total game sales for June in the US rose 1 percent to $375 million.
The news comes by way of the US report from the NPD group. According to the report, PS4 sales were driven by the release of the gold PS4 Slim console with a 1 TB hard drive. As is usual, we didn't get sales numbers. However, in spite of not selling the most out of the consoles, the Switch has still sold a substantial number of units this year.
Hardware sales were strong in June 2017 compared with June 2016, up 27 percent. Year-to-date sales are up 19 percent over last year, totaling $1.4 billion. The increase in sales is due primarily to the release of the Switch earlier this year.
Total sales for the month reached $765 million, which is an increase of 7 percent year-over-year. Every category except accessories saw an increase in spending during June.
Ahead of that, GameSpot is speaking to Jesse Rapczak, the art director and co-creative director at developer Studio Wildcard, which he co-founded. This is a rare opportunity to speak with one of the higher-ups at the studio who helps guide the direction of the hit dinosaur action game.
We're trying something new for GameSpot with this interview. We want YOU to submit questions about Ark for Rapczak. Post them in the comments, and we'll select some to put directly to Rapczak. Ask whatever you want, but there is no guarantee that your question will be selected. We'll choose them based on newsworthiness, originality, humour, and other criteria. Go ahead! We're cutting off questions on Friday, July 21, so ask away!
Ark: Survival Evolved has been available via Early Access for two years. The game is getting a physical release on August 8 and will retail for $60. That is also true for the Steam version, which doubled in price recently to match that of the upcoming physical release. In addition to the standard edition, Ark will be released in an Explorer's Edition, which includes a season pass for $100, and a Limited Collector's Edition that comes with a number of physical extras for $160.
Microsoft today reported earnings for its fiscal Q4 ended June 30. Microsoft is a giant company with many divisions, one of which of course is Xbox, which exists inside of Microsoft's "More Personal Computing" business unit that also covers phones and tablets.
Revenue in this segment was $8.8 billion, which is down 2 percent year-over-year. The decrease was attributed primarily to lower revenue from phones. Gaming revenue specifically jumped 3 percent, or $44 million, to $1.65 billion, Microsoft said, noting that "strength in Xbox software and services offset lower hardware revenue."
Xbox software and services revenue rose 11 percent due to more Xbox Live sales. Xbox hardware revenue was a different story, however, as it dropped 29 percent. The downturn was attributed to lower prices and fewer consoles sold.
Xbox Live had 53 million active users for the period, up from 49 million during the same quarter last year. This figure covers users across console, PC, and phone.
Across all of Microsoft's divisions, the company posted total revenue of $23.3 billion, while profit came in at a massive $6.5 billion. You can read Microsoft's full earnings report here.
The next big hardware release for Microsoft is the Xbox One X, which launches in November.
Blizzard's games have a reputation of running well on low-spec PCs, but the operating system is one area XP users will have to upgrade to continue playing these games. The relatively new Overwatch didn't have XP or Vista support to begin with, and the upcoming StarCraft Remastered won't either. But Windows XP had a run unlike any other modern operating system; having released in 2001, about 7% of desktop systems still use the OS according to Net Market Share.
"Starting in October of this year, we will begin the process of ending support for Windows XP and Windows Vista in World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo III, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm.
"Microsoft ceased mainstream support for these versions of Windows in 2009 and 2012, respectively, but since a decent portion of our audience was still using them at the time, we continued supporting them. However, there have been three major Windows releases since Vista, and at this point, the vast majority of our audience has upgraded to one of the newer versions.
"The games will not run on these older operating systems once they are no longer supported, so we encourage any players who are still using one of the older OSes to upgrade to a newer version. We'll be rolling out this change on a staggered schedule, and will post further notices as we get closer to making the change for each game."
